I'm a Nikonian, and just want to know your thoughts of the Z9, Z8, and even your use of the Z6II. I'm transitioning to mirrorless and just like to grab as much insight as possible...
@@russellwright9961 I’d say at this point, don’t bother with the Z6ii or Z7ii. The Zf, Z8, Z9 are a much better generation of cameras and you’ll be much happier with their performance :)
Loved watching your photography process, Liam! Beautiful photos that are an inspiration. Thank you for all that you do. And many thanks to Taylor for filming this!
Damn! I've been on the wedding industry as a Photographer for 5yrs now. And this is the best and most chill example being a 1 man show as a photographer on the wedding day. I'm a fan now and this inspires me a lot. I so love the presets and shots so I'm planning to buy your preset.
Excellent photos! Absolutely enjoyed the vlog. Looking forward to more videos like this one. Taylor, I am a fan of your work since the beginning. Cheers!
35:45 This is really impressive! I’m terrible with names-I have dyslexia, so names and numbers can be a real challenge for me. It takes me a bit of time to get them down. I’m always amazed by people who can rattle off names in a group so effortlessly.
Why at the end, Taylor looks like he in creative mode like Kanye making an album wearing that big hoodie😂. I’m such a fan of him! I’ve learned so much that instantly improved my wedding photography because of him, keep rockin’ man! P.S. - The photos are insane! Taking notes, I love the photography community. Excellent video!! Can you explain your process for the ceremony & family formals in terms of how you handled that lighting? How were your images not muddy? They were so crisp and clear! Beautiful work!!
Dang perfect video! I shoot with almost the same setup as Liam but have been using the 35-150 allot when I shot for other studios especially which do not want their associate shooters shooting on primes.
8-12000 pix/event…crazy number. I wonder how many gets handed over? I may do around 3000 when lights aren’t perfect, but i suppose it depends on how much time you’re willing to spend on selecting at the end. Better to be safe I guess. All in all, great video, love the attention to detail. Keep them coming
Great video, and thanks for sharing! On a side note, I'm pretty surprised by the amount of photographers that just don't gel their flash anymore, especially for formal photos. I guess I'm the only one bothered by mixed color temps.
You're not alone - I'm a total flash nerd. I just got a second umbrella from MagMod and ridiculously excited about having two stands to balance things this wedding season. Love the look of it.
@liamgoodvisuals Great video guys. Just wondering, nearly a year on, still using the Tamron? Liking it just as much? I'm thinking of getting it, would suit the bulk of what I shoot, events, corporate, studio, school graduations etc. I doubt I would really need any other lens and the less changes during a shoot the better, or being able to keep it all on one camera body for most. Good work, thanks guys,
Thank you loved watching your video and you're such an amazing photographer I have a question where do you get your pictures developed or do you develop your own stuff? now a days the pictures that come out are not as good as the quality as the ones that we used to have back in our days with the 35 mm cameras with actual film
Hi Liam thanks for sharing this I enjoyed heaps, however I have a real dumb question, with the portraits indoors I noticed that the lighting was very orange and that you did not use a CTB gel on your flash, did you just drop your white balance down to about 3200K or some where around there because the color looked awesome, or were those images been edited? Thank you from Mark in Australia
Not dumb at all! No gels on my flashes and no external flashes - just mindful of how I bounce flash and then mindful of how I edit those images. White balance on those is probably between 3000-4000
@@liamgoodvisuals Hi Liam thanks for sharing I thought that you would have dropped the white balance to compensate for the orange lights, you are an amazing photographer
Liam your photos looked amazing..I noticed by the video the ambient light in the ceremony was very warm and yet your photos looked perfect light, white and bright. Did you set your white balance or were you using auto WB?
For your shots during the ceremony, like the one at 25:27, how did you get the lighting to look so good in post without the use of a flash. The room lighting was very yellow but the picture has a clean white look to it. Was this achieved purely through lightroom or was there an off camera flash elsewhere in the room that I didn't notice?
Oh great question! No external flash used, just really intentional and gradual adjustments in white balance and color (especially the orange and red sliders). Hope that helps :)
Almost always 3D tracking + eye/face detect. That said, I have my front function button set to toggle through focus modes if I need to change anything in a pinch. Something I love about the Z9/Z8 is you can actually *disable* focus modes you don’t need - so now my front function button allows me to scroll through 4 different focus modes rather than like 12 lol. This means that I can quickly go from auto area, to 3D tracking, to single point, all without having to open any menus.
That disable focus mode feature sounds awesome. I’m on the Z5 and my autofocus misses quite a bit during a wedding day. I’m definitely getting the new tamron you were shooting with and thinking of upgrading to the Z8 or the rumored Z6III this year. Thanks again for the insight, cheers.

Haha the pinned comment should say that it’s coming over from the Learn Wedding Photography Channel. Just leaving that channel for shorts and long form remains here
i really wana know how he is doing the focusing like when he sticks the camera behind flowers then shoots people who are standing in what is now the background of those flowers while they are in focus and the flowers are not in focus
Im so confused.. I started backwards.. a few months ago i was using primes 35mm f1.8 and 85mm f1.8 for 90% of my photos on weddings and events... but since i got a 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8 im using those almost entirely.. and only ever use the 85mm f1.8 for planned portraits pretty much.. but everything else im almost always with the 24-70 or 70-200.. or even both if im dual wielding cameras.. they're really heavy but they are so convenient tho.. Why is it that now i see everyone going with dual primes and no longer using zooms? but im now backwards? :(
... just a quick question: on minute 1 - why is there always a last shutter sound, when Liam puts his camera already down? Is it a Nikon thing or is the sound not synchronized?
Yeah just whatever I can find on Amazon! Something on the wider side is helpful, rather than being too long and skinny. That said, I didn’t use a prism at this wedding as far as I recall.
I feel like most diffusers are sold because photographers often don't learn very good bounce flash techniques. diffusers would make very little difference for me since I primarily use walls/ceilings to effectively create a larger light source which is then softer on my subjects :) I also just don't like the size of diffusers and adding extra bulk. hope that helps!
What i really want to know is... where can i get a dual camera strap like that? the ones i keep finding always have so many hooks and stuff.. i can't seem to find a sleek simple one like the one Liam is using
Hah! It’s just by holdfast. They have lots of options. That said, mine actually had a bunch of other hardware on it (for hanging bags and stuff) but I ripped them out and then used knives and scissors to shorten some of the straps. Thankfully it still looks nice hahah
@@liamgoodvisuals oooohhhh niiiice.. yeah all the ones i keep finding come with multiple hooks and stuff for hanging that i never actually use.. and i wanted something more elegant and simple, like this one.. hehehe thank you for the tip

Using faster glass will help you a lot, 1.4 primes are excellent getting less noise in your images but also maybe consider a flash with a good diffuser
