Awesome. Just replaced my fan with the Noctune and the difference is stunning. Thanks alot for this guide :-) - UPDATE. Some people raise concern about the less cfm output of the Noctune. I testet before/after temps on the motor housing and the difference after 3 hours of AC with max force was 3 degrees. That shows that the fan is not for cooling but for moving air. So you can all replace the fan and dont have to worry. 3 degrees is nothing and the motor should not care for this minor increase. The sun at my window raises the room temp more than 3 degrees.
Maybe my original Fan was already declining but with the Noctune the whole base is not warm whereby the latest times is took about 15 minutes until the original Fan would stop and the motor was cooled down. By accident i had the same connector so the original fan can be placed back for Waranty is something else is broken i can't fix myself (I could have send it back to Amazon but with the knowledge a new one probably gets the same issue i fixt it myself). Question: the Noctune is a little bit louder then the original one, is it wise to install one of the 2 RPM lowering cables or would the motor become too warm?
a tip to no have to wait 3 minutes to test the fan : Simultaneously press the “OFF” and “MODE” buttons to switch cooling modes: “Forced” mode becomes active : the LED flashes twice “Automatic” mode becomes active : the LED flashes once
Awesome tutorial! Just did this, one thing I’d like to recommend would be to use the 3-4 pin adapter that comes with the kit instead of the extension because the 3-4 pin adapter only uses the red and black wire. Thanks again for the tutorial!
Great instructional video! I love this mod and wish I had done it sooner. The servo base runs notably cooler on long runs and I can actually feel air exiting the case through the vents now, There's no way the stock fan was moving this much air and on the plus side the Noctua is silent. I used a "CRJ Electronics Mini 2-pin female adapter cable" (model number 4051) and it worked beautifully.
Thanks! Yes, same for me, should have mod the fan earlier and I do feel the air is actually flowing through the vent nicely as compared to the stock fan. Although the stock fan cfm rating is higher than Noctua, but the actual performance Noctua is on another level.

High CFM is irrelevant for obstructed vents if the static pressure is too low. High pressure but low CFM fans work better when the fan has to push air through obstructions.
@@0for30 Larger holes always help, but high CFM fans outperform high static pressure fans in open air. My T300 has an aftermarket fan that is nearly silent and has no trouble cooling the wheel even with the stock air vents.
Good guide. I used the molex adapter becuase of the shorter cable and its worked great. One thing I ran into was the Loctite on the screws and bolts were pretty annoying. One tip is to use flame (plus pliers so you don't burn yourself) to burn the loctite off the screw and nuts AFTER IT HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE OLD FAN. AFter burning it, it should come off with just some rubbing by hand or paper towel.

There's no need to hold the wheel for 3 mins. Just press "MODE" and "OPTIONS" after plugging it in and the fan will run. Press the combination again and the fan will turn off.
Did you manage to make it work? Mine work if conneced to a pc power suply but it cant work on the wheel. Fan is exa tly the same . Mode.does.seem buggy maybe it that , while reassembling i saw the small mode button went down from its correct position on the board, when i look under the button white rubber, i only see a black rubber tound piece and it quite does not seem to be that it could chnage anything ike that if pressed even if properly set on its place on the board....when i hold mode and ST quite a few seconds it doesnt do anything. Maybe a small metal.piece fell out?

Nice tutorial, but instead of cutting the fan wires one could use an three to two pin adapter cable. Available in every computer store or the big online store. And in case you don't want to spend the 1 or 2 € for the adapter cable you should solder the connections at least.
Any ideas why my t300 base have stong burnt plastic smell? Its not overheating issue, with fans on and cold wheel base its impossible to breath, even if im not playing but with fans on. Have this wheel for 3 month now, smell still same and strong
TMX base should be identical to T300, just try to open it and look at the structure inside based on my tutorial video, if everything looks the same then you can proceed to replace the fan.
Hi mate, just got a t300. Is this allowed for warranty? Don't want to lose that. Also I immediately setted my ffb to 50-55%, for better durability and keeping the steering wheel good. Really want to use it for a lot of years. Like I did with my g27. I always play American truck sim, beamng, dirt rally 2.0 and assetto Corsa. It's doing pretty well I think
Rob, I am just a user, but I can assure you that this will void the warranty. Mine is a couple of years old and I am replacing this fan - because the noise is really bad now - but my warranty is long gone.

one tip aswell.. you dont need to cut wires.. you can get adapter cables that have the plug you need for the board.. and you do not need the low nouse adapter cables.. noctuas are kinda low noise in general already

Hello, T300 is a good choice if your budget is within RM2000, actually I've been using my T300 for almost 2 years now, the only problem I have is the fan and the t3pa pedals need to maintain with some grease, other that that it's a solid set.

@@poseidondredd Apart from the fan issue, no issue for the rest. To keep T300 more durable, just don't run it with high FFB settings. I was a G27 user, I prefer the T300 a lot more than G27 (basically the same as G29), as for the pedals, T3PA is not as good as Logitech. Both has its own good and bad, depends on your budget.
@@poseidondredd the three pedals version comes with RS GT or Ferrari Alcantara. Anyway, if you just buy it for having fun and not serious into competition then it's fine.

Hey, you're welcome. No, I let the Noctua fan run at full speed, it doesn't feel noisy at all to me. I wouldn't recommend you to reduce the fan speed because Noctua airflow is slightly lower than the original fan, if you reduce the fan speed, the cooling is not good at all.
My idea was no extra adapter is needed and to save money by using the extra wire that comes with the Noctua fan, DIY hack. The 3-pin plug comes with that Noctua fan doesn't fit in the 2-pin socket from the Thrustmaster base.
I'm gonna be honest here. I don't know why the hell everyone goes for the noctua. Noctua fans are quieter, but depending on your use of the wheel it will hurt the performance. If you're a heavy drifter for example, the wheel will overheat much more quickly with the Noctua fan. Yes it's quieter, but the vibrations really aren't that bad with the stock fan and won't be much different with the Noctua fan. It's really if your stock fan is on its last legs. But make sure you take a good look at your use of the wheel first before you buy a Noctua fan. There are better performing fans that are just louder than the Noctua fan. Fans just don't do too well in this wheel because thrustmaster designed the cooling kinda bad
When the fan gets stuck i usually smash the wheel casing a few times and the fan starts spinning normaly. But i got tired of doing it so its time to replace :D
I tried it lasted 10 seconds, I ordered another similar one .. and I did plug the red on the red and the black on the black, I specify that I did the test with the mod ventilation force
Swaping/replaceing a fan gives literally nothing except a new fan🤷 Inside wheel base hot air is still mixing and that is true problem with T300. I added additional 2 fans inside - one 60mm sucking fresh air in and another 40mm pulls out. Everything connected to the motherboard. And it works perfectly - motor does not overheat.
A short time ago I bought a second-hand t300, with 2 years of use. As expected, it overheats and loses power. I can't buy the Noctua right now, but I will. In order to cool down my base, try another method. Take the transformer out of the base and the low temperature inside it. Now, I got to thinking, is the problem the cooler or is it the source?
@@embolemal The key was to widen the openings in the casing and remove warm air with an additional fan. I have not used Noctua. In my case it's SilentiumPC Zephyr - 6€ for both.

@@albertino4631 It was SilentiumPC 40 and 60 mm fans. Smaler one consume only 0.07 amps of power. These should be two wire fans same as original one. Just conect black wires from two small fans together and then conect them to the black wire which main fan is connected to the board. Do the same with red wires. Good luck:)

this is just the easiest way to mod by replacing the original fan, there are better mods like drilling many holes on the cover to allow more airflow and putting additional fans for better cooling effect, it depends on how much you're willing to do with your t300.
Did anyone solve the air flow? Noctua have airflow 29,2m3/h and stock 36,4m3/h. Is that enough for cooling? The noise is reduced, but the cooling properties?? Any advice? Thx
Noctua has higher static pressure so it can actually push the air through the narrow gaps. High airflow doesn't help if the fan can't generate enough pressure: The air will just circulate inside the chassis. Noctua may push less air but it will actually push it out of the case.
Stock Fan (Chiefly) air performance has 21.4 CFM (cube ft per minutes) and current 0.28A, but Noctua NF-A6x25 FLX only 17.2CFM and current 0.12A. Does the new fan have enough performance? Аt the same time the Chiefly thiсkness is 15mm, and Noctua: 25мм.
So far I haven't encountered any issue with the FFB motor getting overheat during long usage (Forced fan mode on T300). Based on the airflow performance data, no doubt Chiefly does better but it doesn't last. On the other hand, Noctua bearings guarantee superb running smoothness and excellent long-term stability, providing me a smooth and worry-free usage experience.
CFM only matters in open air. The air vents in T300 are so restricted that high static pressure is more important than CFM. It's the pressure that pushed air through the gaps. High airflow is wasted without enough pressure to push it out.
@Speed&Test Dude, if you have no idea what a "static pressure fan" means, don't come telling others they are wrong. Fans create static pressure to overcome obstructions in the path of the air flow. Some fans create more static pressure than others, thus helping them push air through obstructed vents better than other fans. A fan optimized for high airflow produces less static pressure and vice versa. But high airflow is almost meaningless if it can't push through the cooling vent.

I've switched on the force fan mode on my T300 and so far I don't feel my FFB fading even after an hour race with default FFB gain settings on Thrustmaster Control Panel and games.
I mean yes it should. You will still have to cut the cable to make it into a 2 pin or buy a 4pin to 2pin adaptor. 4 pins is used mainly for CPUs so they can adjust their speed depending on what you're doing on your pc. The weel doesn't need this feature.
Just get the wires connected to each other by the color code, RED to RED and BLACK to BLACK, you don't need to be an electrician to understand that, hope this helps.

I did this, but instead of splicing the cable I ordered a HJX MINI 2Pin fan adapter to 4Pin, so I won't have to splice everything.

Remember - to tighten those bolt nut screws you will need a pair of screwdriver wrench pliers.

I added additional 2 fans inside - one 60mm sucking fresh air in and another 40mm pulls out. Everything connected to the motherboard. And it works perfectly - motor does not overheat.
A short time ago I bought a second-hand t300, with 2 years of use. As expected, it overheats and loses power. I can't buy the Noctua right now, but I will. In order to cool down my base, try another method. Take the transformer out of the base and the low temperature inside it. Now, I got to thinking, is the problem the cooler or is it the source?
@@embolemal The key was to widen the openings in the casing and remove warm air with an additional fan. I have not used Noctua. In my case it's SilentiumPC Zephyr - 6€ for both.

@@albertino4631 It was SilentiumPC 40 and 60 mm fans. Smaler one consume only 0.07 amps of power. These should be two wire fans same as original one. Just conect black wires from two small fans together and then conect them to the black wire which main fan is connected to the board. Do the same with red wires. Good luck:)
Does it work in Thrustmaster TX?
I'm now watching this, in order to cooling down the motor temperature. Do this mod really cool down the T300 issues? Or there are more effective newest mods? Thanxs
this is just the easiest way to mod by replacing the original fan, there are better mods like drilling many holes on the cover to allow more airflow and putting additional fans for better cooling effect, it depends on how much you're willing to do with your t300.
If let's say I wanna place in the stock position, will the 80mm fan fit? Can you close the housing?
Not sure about that, just use 60mm to be safe.

Did anyone solve the air flow? Noctua have airflow 29,2m3/h and stock 36,4m3/h. Is that enough for cooling? The noise is reduced, but the cooling properties?? Any advice? Thx
Noctua has higher static pressure so it can actually push the air through the narrow gaps. High airflow doesn't help if the fan can't generate enough pressure: The air will just circulate inside the chassis.
Noctua may push less air but it will actually push it out of the case.
Is the fan running on fastest speed automatically or do I need to change a setting somewhere?
By default, it is running at maximum speed.
Stock Fan (Chiefly) air performance has 21.4 CFM (cube ft per minutes) and current 0.28A, but Noctua NF-A6x25 FLX only 17.2CFM and current 0.12A. Does the new fan have enough performance? Аt the same time the Chiefly thiсkness is 15mm, and Noctua: 25мм.
So far I haven't encountered any issue with the FFB motor getting overheat during long usage (Forced fan mode on T300). Based on the airflow performance data, no doubt Chiefly does better but it doesn't last. On the other hand, Noctua bearings guarantee superb running smoothness and excellent long-term stability, providing me a smooth and worry-free usage experience.
CFM only matters in open air. The air vents in T300 are so restricted that high static pressure is more important than CFM. It's the pressure that pushed air through the gaps.
High airflow is wasted without enough pressure to push it out.
@Speed&Test Dude, if you have no idea what a "static pressure fan" means, don't come telling others they are wrong.
Fans create static pressure to overcome obstructions in the path of the air flow. Some fans create more static pressure than others, thus helping them push air through obstructed vents better than other fans.
A fan optimized for high airflow produces less static pressure and vice versa. But high airflow is almost meaningless if it can't push through the cooling vent.
Don't know why but fan is running at 5-7V in my wheel. I bought Step-up DC-DC converter and set it up on 12V. No thermal issues now

TX is basically same as T300, so it will work.

Le seul gros bemol...lisez les etiquettes...celui d origine est en 0.25 amperes contre 0.12 le noctua et si vous les testez vous verrais qu il souffle beaucoup plus fort....j ai du redemonter pour remettre celui d origine le noctua etant bien trop faible.....

Yes, you can, just use the RPM reduction cable, if you buy Noctua, it comes with 2 different RPM reduction cables.

I've switched on the force fan mode on my T300 and so far I don't feel my FFB fading even after an hour race with default FFB gain settings on Thrustmaster Control Panel and games.

Does it work with a 4 pin Fan?
I mean yes it should. You will still have to cut the cable to make it into a 2 pin or buy a 4pin to 2pin adaptor. 4 pins is used mainly for CPUs so they can adjust their speed depending on what you're doing on your pc. The weel doesn't need this feature.

Just get the wires connected to each other by the color code, RED to RED and BLACK to BLACK, you don't need to be an electrician to understand that, hope this helps.

The fan seem pointless as the fan is drawing hot air and exhausting it back inside the casing....
