    Ben Thanh market is actually the most expensive one in Saigon , because it's located in a tourist area so the rent there is very expensive . If you know some local friends they can take you to other much cheaper markets like Saigon Square , Tân Dinh , An Dong , Nguyen Trai cloth street or Russian Market ( don't worry , there are no Russian vendors there ) .

      Yep we definitely found that!! Fun to visit but we will refrain from shopping there next time 😊

      @hungcuongnguyen293 I'll be visiting in early september and am doing my research, I've heard that people deal in USD as well, is there a preference from local venders to use either USD or VND. Also are there any particular brands to look out for that are made in Vietnam, for example The north face that may be higher quality? TIA!

    • @hungcuongnguyen293
      @hungcuongnguyen293 Рік тому +2

      @@ignited141 Officially you are not allowed to pay with USD or any other foreign currencies . But in most hotels they accept American $ . For transportations ( bus, train, plane, taxi, grab...) , Sim cards , museums , tours , small purchases , restaurants or street food/beer/coffee it is easier to pay with VND . There are exchange spots almost everywhere in big cities like HCMC , Hanoi , Danang , Hue, , Nha Trang , Dalat , Cân Tho, etc... You get a better rate in HCMC and Hanoi . Ha Tâm or Mai Vân in HCMC on Phan Chu Trinh street ( facing the west gate of Ben Thanh Market ) and Quoc Trinh on Pho Ha Chung in Hanoi . They give the best rate in town . Don't go the exchange spots in touristy areas ( the rate they give there is always the lowest ) .Tip : bring new bank notes with no fold or tear . Sometimes they don't accept them or give you a lower rate (-20%).
      North Face , Adidas , Nike have plants in VN . But there are also a lot of fake stuffs so you have to be careful . In general even the fake brands are still pretty good quality for the price you pay . Don't forget to negotiate to get the best deal . Don't bring too many fake stuffs home because you might be heavily fined and blacklisted by your home country's custom agency if you get caught . Hope you will have a good trip in Vietnam in September . From late May to end of November it's still the rainy season in Vietnam ( especially in the South and Central parts of the country ) .

    The videos of foreigners practicing their bargaining skills in Vietnam are always entertaining. It doesn't really matter in the end if you paid a little bit too much or not as it's all about the entertainment for the viewers ('cept for Vietnamese folks whom think everything is always too expensive without taking into account that Ben Thanh vendors pay a lot of rent for their spaces so the prices are passed onto the goods).

      @@sunkissedbucketlist Just say Ho Chi Minh as that's the proper name of the city. Only the bitter overseas southern Viets will insist Westerners call it Saigon - and yes, they do coach/teach and insist incessantly from one video to the next. I've made a conscious decision to try and say HCMC just out of spite since they have agendas that aren't beneficial to the country. If they were to truly admit to what happen and who was at fault, they'd also not spout off so much negativity on youtube.

    You talk to much when they are making the deals, we don't need a narrator when we can hear what's going on. Those wallets should be like 12 for $75 USD. Also those belts should be like $4.
