this scene really breaks my heart , when i finished banshee i felt loneliness, i dont know why when i remember the good times i feel very sad , really it's been a great ride thanks banshee , thanks hood thanks for everyone thank you for every thing
I just finished it yesterday (super late to the party, I know) and you summed up how I feel. They wrapped it up so perfectly, but it just made me feel sad.
He's like the hidden Protagonist. He's the one with the arc. In the First episode, he desperately wanted to be Sheriff but wasn't ready. He was Too "by the book" which Just wouldn't work in Banshee. He would've caved in to Proctor. But through the series, he learned the balance of when to do things by the book and when to get his hands Dirty. It's only in that Last episode that he's truly able to be the Sheriff he wanted to be.
In the end, they may NOT have liked each other, but they understood what drives the other. Brock got a sense that protecting will sometimes mean going FAR beyond the rulebook he's gone by most of his life. Hood finally understood that parameters and structure are invaluable to ground and focusing a person. When he left prison he was literally nobody, not the man Ana loved, not the man Rabbit pursued, not the man Dalton trained, not even the man Job became best friends with. And becoming Lucas Hood helped him define the margins of his personality. But once Siobhan was murdered, Brock's words to Hood, "Everything you touch...[unspoken eventually in the pause] turns to blood." resonated in Hood's head. So Hood went feral for awhile. When he emerged he turned into a man of justice literally investigating like a cop and following procedure like a cop, he was a man with more clearly defined boundaries within himself.
Hood gave Brock the edge the sharpened tip to his foil and when they nearly died at the hands of the Satanic cultists, Brock realized that he DOES NOT have to bow to Proctor. That's why Brock firing the bazooka was such a pivotal moment for his development. It showed that Brock isn't going to be servile to anyone any more. That's why Brock realizes the cartel hitmen are coming for Proctor and happily sips his coffee.
If you look carefully when Hood leaves, there are two cops talking at the door who vaguely reassemble Siobhan and Emmett, Just to make it even more gut wrenching.
I'd rather it ended like this than on some ambiguous cliffhanger after annother three seasons. thing is... this character was in many ways on borrowed time. his cover would have eventually imploded or someone would have killed him if he'd stayed. I was damn sure he was leaving that town in a pine box this way... well Hood's identity is intact courtesy of the nice fed lady who left the file on him behind, he's got the potential to have a relationship with his daughter, his dragons have all been slain and he can actually take a minute to figure out who he is now. as endings go? that's a pretty good one.
I would have taking one to three more seasons of it with him dying at the end not every show needs a happy ending and I would have been at peace with him dying as his character was heading in that direction from season one.
I particulary love that when sheriff Brock is in the picture and nods it is synchronized with a powerful major chord but when Hood nods the chord is even more powerfull and deep, dark minor scale which is brilliant because it tells about these two characters everything without words.
Just finished rewatching this most excellent series tonight. My new final closing thought was that I wish Matthew Rauch had got some spin off series hopefully titled Burton. It would have been a show about his formative years and the bizarre things that happened to him to twist and shape him into the fastidious, yet lethally brutal killer he really was. Later on the old cast could do a guest spot as Burton gets closer to working for Proctor. It would be some hellishly bloody awful lovely stuff. Just like this show. Thank for posting this fine song.
Most heartbreaking scene. Really good and sad same time. There so much this two break trough together but now it's time to move on. And I like fact there is no words. Just respect and goodbye. Such a good writing.
From a gentle but violent and damaged soul who accepted his fake sheriff job as his life's purpose to a violent, damaged, hateful, megalomaniac piece of shit who fakes being a superhero that kills innocents for fun....that's range brother
I felt sad on ragnar's death in Vikings. I thought there would be no show like that. But this part made me felt a loss, like your close one is gone now.
The nod it was all needed for a perfect end for lucas hood and brock relationship still one of the wholesome moment from the show.... sadly underated masterclass tv show = banshee
This series was everything. The story was good, the characters were memorable and the setting blended perfectly with the action scenes. Starr gives the outline to Hood like he gives to Homelander. I feel so empty that I finished the series, I really don't know what series would rise to the level of Banshee
Why he got be an idiot though.. Also they wrapped it up as they didn’t get the American ratings they were hope for from the get go. They got most support from abroad and I blame Cinemax for that had they come out on HBO they could have when 5+ seasons easily. Antony Starr said so in an interview he did promoting the boys and asked about banshee
@Mookie Blaylock I didn't realize I had any replies, sorry bud, didn't see you down there little fella. And no it didn't, it ended fucked, kinda like your very existence dipshit.
I agree and you can tell Lucas hood actor wasn’t happy about the season 4 being the end even though he suffered many injuries making the series. Cinemax sucks at promoting their shows which why it’s no surprise they are now own my HBO and now called HBOMax now but they have be nerve to charge a fee to watch banshee on top of the existing charge to get that channel. I wish they would have a Netflix deal to continue the series at least to get us a season 5 then end it. But in 2016 Netflix wasn’t taking canned shows from other networks as much as they are doing nowadays. I like him as Homelander now on the boys but he will always be Lucas Hood to me. Underrated show and lead actor for sure.

The unnecessary sex scenes kept it from being picked up on a major network
I think that Sheriff Brock appreciates Hood even if he doesn't show it because he knows he's a great man
