I’m just tying to flip this around and if someone said and WHITE to a white couple, black folk and liberal white folk would be up in arms pulling out the racism card. Y'all had me cracking up 😂😂 love you both. Chance I believe GOD test our faith even in child birth in honoring our prayers. I am a 2nd generation twin. I'm a twin, my mom is a twin and I always wanted and prayed for twins since I was 5. Became pregnant, had to have an ultrasound early on is how we knew we were having twins. Went in for subsequent ultrasound and there was only 1 ❤️ beat. Dr said 'impossible" to conceive twins and have 1 ❤️ beat go home your body is going to naturally abort that fetus. I knew what I knew. Went home parents prayed over me went back exactly 1 week later. Dr did an ultrasound we have a ❤️beat on the right and a ❤️beat on the left ☺️🙏🏽 today they are 23yr old young men and both healthy. AMEN!!

As a retired nurse I can say sometimes it’s an emergency to change plans during childbirth to save lives. I had to have a c section and it was what was best for me and my child. No regrets ❤He is now 36 🙏☺️
The epidural didnt even work for me with my son, his head was stuck in my pubic bone, and I was dilated from 9 back to 5 I was so comfused. I was in pain for hours and no one knew. I broke and asked for a c section and thats when they found out my son head was stuck. Thankful to God he was safe after all them hour stuck like that. 🙌🏾❤️
I didnt want a c section or a epidural, but plans do change sometimes.
My mom had 2 c sections that saved her life and ours, my sister and I both had natural births my daughter was born in her veil. God bless Chance and Tab for this commentary
I’ve never had kids, but is the pain in the lower back, or all over the back?? Because I’ve had extreme lower back pain, although I’m sure birthing is more painful!

Yes I’m late to this episode. But as a retired labor & delivery nurse. I know this scenario oh too well. I was the type of nurse that whatever your wishes were, I tried to follow it to a T. But I can’t count how many first time moms that had birthing plans which is just fine but I’m telling you the torment some of the moms placed on themselves. Like you said, you got your birth plan but sometimes that baby or God almighty got some other plans. I’ve had some patients that we did everything we could with position changes, massages, distraction, but I would feel so bad because the patient would almost go into a depression because they couldn’t handle the pain and needed pain medication or an epidural. Or like you said the fetal heart tones weren’t looking the best and so now we’re prepping you for a stat c-section when you only wanted a vaginal birth. I say all this to say, especially when it’s your first baby, go with the flow, go with the changes that may come, because your birthing experience will be so much better. The bottom line, we want you to have this beautiful healthy baby!

I have been struggling with fertility since I was 22. I have not been able to conceive and now must have a hysterectomy in 2 weeks to save my life. (I have had ALOT of other interventions…this is really last resort. My docs been riding with me for years!) It’s heartbreaking. But your words give me life and light today…”Plans change and it’s alright!” Grateful for your light and life. Asé!

It's a hard conversation to have. I told my husband if he was asked who to save, me or our child to save our child. My husband looked at me and said "absolutely not! I'm going to say to save you! We can try again for another child but I can't replace you"! It reaffirmed to me that I made the right choice of husband!

I love how this message can be not only for birthing plans but for overall life planning. I was just talking to a friend about how I feel like I'm starting over from scratch because things didn't go the way I planned with grad school, so now I'm back home trying to make sense of everything but hearing you say "Your plan can change, and it's alright" just gave me so much comfort❤
Girl I left a job of 12 years with no intentions of ever going back and here it is almost 3 years later and I'm returning to that place on Monday 🙃 putting my pride to the side and going back in chy. We gonna be alright 😘

This is exactly the lesson I took away. I'm in a relationship that is leading to marriage but my marriage won't look like how I dreamed it. I had to accept that and lean into the positive aspects of my new norm. We got this y'all. One day and one step at a time. Onward and upward! Sending much love your way. ❤️

Such a beautiful and important conversation. I studied to be a midwife, was a doula briefly, and when I became pregnant created what I thought was the perfect birth plan. I birthed at a “teaching hospital,” and they ignored everything on my birth plan. I was completely disrespected every step of the way and that was more painful than the 36 hours of labor I endured. But, I pushed him out and thank God he was healthy.
I lasted unmedicated until I think 30 hours and then they gave me laughing gas. It was lit after that 😂
I did publish my birth story and got a chance to read it at an event for Black and Brown women who felt disrespected during their birthing experience. The hospital where I birthed sponsored the event.
Women co-create and give birth to life. It’s a powerful experience, indescribable.
Thank you beautiful Tab and Chance for sharing your story. In doing so you’re changing lives, empowering so many parents who are going through or have gone through this journey.
Whether through vaginal or belly birth, all women deserve respect for this process.

You are right about giving birth.! I had to babies and the first one was breech and it was the worst because his feet were trying to come out but by the grace of God the doctor was able to turn him around 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿. I would have had a hysterectomy at 27 years old 🙏🏾🙏🏾now I have two sons and I m grateful 😊
What a model for all mankind. Chance is our present-day Abraham. He was willing to sacrifice Quest; the son he'd prayed to God for. No hesitation; for many reasons. Reason number one: his trust and faith in, and love for God. He knew God would not fail him. And my God my God where would this world be without our Godsent gem, Tab. This cracked me up.I tried to go natural, too....until I went to the bathroom while in my hospital room and it felt like somebody tried to kick my insides out. I hollered, "NURSE!!!!!" She ran into the bathroom. I said, "Please get me the papers for the...." I didn't even have to finish the sentence. 😄😄😄 After that, it just felt like I was having a bowel movement.🤭

Wow that episode hit so close to home almost my exact same experience with my oldest and they did the same thing to my husband and trying to make him choose after causing me to stress out and crash... But lord help bring Chance peace....I can see the hurt and frustration he still has in his soul about the situation. He tried to fix his face but you could see the hurt in his eyes as he was talking and afterwards.

As a new mom , I loved everything about this conversation. I didn’t have a thorough birthing plan but I had certain things I expected to happen and as Tab said “plans will change”. What I’ve learned is you have to invite God within the room. We greet the doctors, nurses, etc. but we need to greet God as well because he is truly the doctor, deliverer and healer in that moment and always . It’s amazing what prayer will do & having faith in Him.

This was a double message for me. I'm a mother of (3) children and all of my births were completely different (one vaginal with epidural, one vaginal with no meds and one c-section) so I could relate to birthing plans changing. But in this season of my life I feel like I'm birthing a business and it's not at all how I planned it. God has another plan and as I'm surrendering my plan for His plan it's going to be ok. ❤

Tab I had the exact same deliveries as you minus the believing it was coming from the 'tooter'. When they asked me if I wanted my baby or me to be saved I told them to save my baby, so they wheeled me into the operation room for an emergency C-section with my first child and they gave me the up and down cut, because we both coded twice. Fortunately God had other plans, however with my third, the epidural wore off before she came out and I lost my forth. This was a great memory lane reminder. Luv ya'll.

Thank you so much Tab and Chance this message has came at the best time I think this is for my daughter to hear and understand. My daughter is due literally any time and she is wanting to experience her first birth all natural which is ok but I’ve let her know that it’s also ok if your decision changes and it doesn’t make you any less of a young woman. Her baby will be induced sooner than plan because her % of weight is not what they feel it should be so she already feeling some time of way. Just pray for her my first child in the next couple days and my first grandbaby as she brings life into this world. Thank you and love y’all 😊

Birthing stories are so special. Labor is very much superhuman! Giving birth is no joke! Women are magical. Shoutout to the men who are by their spouses sides.

My hubby will describe the epidural EXACTLY the same way Chance does!! He turned grayish green & almost passed out 🤣🤣

I'm terrified of needles but I had 2 epidurals! When that pain hit, you don't care about needles😆 The sad thing, the second baby the epidural didn't even work...felt everything!! 😄
