      Well the video explains that in the comics she eventually was able to phase through time to her past self; the movie takes that one step further where she can do that to others and not just herself. The video explanation of the movie logic that Kitty was not born yet in 1973 while Wolverine was a full-body adult in 1973 fits as well why she would send him back in time.

      Even if Magneto is right, it's his fault that the future is the way we saw in DOFP. If he hadn't antagonized the humans so much or ruined Xavier's peacekeeping goals, then the humans wouldn't have built an army of giant robots programmed to kill all mutants.

    • @doomed2063
      @doomed2063 9 років тому +17

      Kitty Pryde learns, in the comics, that time doesn't work the way they thought. The many worlds interpretation ends up being how time works in the Marvel universe and all they did by going back was create a new timeline. So in the comics the DoFP future is just an alternate timeline from the main 616 universe but when the story came out the idea of the main Marvel universe being 616 wasn't established yet and at the time, the DoFp future was the future, not a possible/alternate future.
      Overall, as a comic book fan, it's hard not to love what Fox is doing woth he franchise. Event though its not the faithful adaptation all is nerds would love, it's still been a good interpretation and thats all I want. Go ahead and make changes and reinterpret the source material, just do it well. People only take issue with changing the source material when it ends up sucking. If you do it well, like Marvel has done, fans will accept it.

    Personally, I think it's cool that there are differences in both the comics and the movies, because it creates a wider range of creativity and new exciting plot possibilities. For the movie, though, I think it would've been nice for there to be a few brief moments in the future that have Storm interact with the other characters; then we could either get to know their comic book origins, or we could get some new creative stories about their pasts. Overall, I love both versions of the Days of Future Past storyline.

    The question why they didn't bring Quicksilver to Paris, was a production problem. In the original script, it was said that Xavier, McCoy and Logan Went for Juggernauts help, so they could free Magneto. When the studio was going to film the scene where they rescue Magneto, Fox told the production team that they wanted Brian Singer to use Quicksilver instead. Why they did this? it was to spit on Marvel Studios saying like, "yeah, you use QS on Age of Ultron, we can use him too! But he will now be part of our universe!" Brian Singer obviusly didn't have any problem with that, so he used QS and made a better character than QS from Age of Ultron. But I Think the reason he wasn't on the rest of the Movie was that he wasn't on the originall script. So that's it!

He has difference, but is just how Singer wsnted the character, he doesnt follow too much the comics.

    Well the actual main reason for sending Wolverine instead of Professor X was because Wolverine was the only one who could actually go back that far because of his healing factor keeping his brain from getting ripped apart unlike Professor X who would've died attempting it. Charles having issues in the past had nothing to do with it since older Charles would've been the one in control of the body instead of damaged younger Charles.

      Exactly. The Sentinels are actually scary. They set out to make the deadliest robots ever put on film... and they succeeded. And the core story hasn't changed. Someone from the future has to go back in time to stop Mystique from assassinating someone, leading to the destruction of all life on Earth. That's this movie. In the wake of Avatar, having Kitty send Logan back in time to his younger self, to his avatar in the 70s makes total sense. Hell, the animated series didn't even feature Kitty

In the comics, Kelly had nothing to do with the sentinels and that future was just a reaction to the assassination.

    The reason Quicksilver is in the movie is because it's a giant middle finger from Fox to Marvel Studios. It was originally written as the Juggernaut, but when Marvel announced Quicksilver would be in the Avengers (the characters rights are owned by both companies), Fox changed the scene, so they could get the character onscreen first.
    Also of note - the reason Kitty Pride was given the time travel powers in the film was to nod to the original comic. She only has one power in the comics, but they gave her two for the films. (No explanation about how she has two powers IN the film, but I'm guessing they'd just call it a secondary mutation, kinda like Emma Frost.)

And then The Last Stand's treatment of the Dark Phoenix saga made me lose all hope in that ever properly happening. Then X-men Origins: Wolverine was released, and whatever hope that had remained was completely gone. I thought First Class was mediocre, and that the Wolverine was pointless filler. So naturally when I heard about Days of Future Past, I was angered. The movie was released, and I watched it. Best X-men movie ever.

      3 was better than DoFP. All that depressing shit with Charles pretty much bring a dope fiend, the fact that Jennifer doesn't have a demanding control of the camera's attention like Rebecca does, the story was boring, I mean I'll watch some of it if it's on cable, but I'm changing the channel at the first commercial break.
      X3 had Kelsey Grammer who I've always loved, way better visuals, way more bad ass not just fight scenes but full on battle scenes, shocking Xavier death, a sweet and almost human quote from Erik after Xavier's death, epic climax with another death, X3 was easily better than DoFP.

Professor X decides to send Wolverwine (Whom has a metal skeleton) back through time to stop Mystique (A shapeshifter) from assassinating the Sentinel's creator Bolivar Trask and to convince a long haired young Professor X (John Connor) to help him stop Mystique. When Wolverwine wakes up in 1973, he is bare naked. (The Terminators and Kyle Reese arrive in the past without clothes).

    I would like to see you compare and contrast the "Days of Future Past" story arc in the X-Men animated series with the movie version. This is where Bishop is sent into the past using a Vortex Manipulator that Forge stole from Torchwood...I mean...invented to send Wolverine back, but Wolverine was scorched down to his skeleton by a fight with the Sentinels, leaving Bishop as the only choice to go on the mission since Forge had to stay in the future to guide him with the computer system.
    That storyline was EXTREMELY interesting as it then creates an ALTERNATE future where Cable then comes into the past to STOP Bishop from changing things, and has to wear a device that keeps him grounded in the original future, because by Bishop changing the future it destroyed Cable's family. Though it was fun to watch Cable still be in the second Deadpool movie.

      Agreed. I was really looking forward to seeing a young Kitty struggle with becoming a hero in a giant block-buster motion picture. Could have been as epic as "Empire Strikes Back". Instead they took the path of least resistance and made another Wolverine movie. It was still pretty good, just not as epic as it could have been if the studio had been braver.

      I don't know that there'd be anything to contrast, really. Other than the progression of Joker's reemergence (he wakes up near the beginning in the comic but doesn't get released and appear on TV until after the Mutant problem is over, whereas in the movies, he wakes up and says "Batman....darling." when he hears Batman's name on the newscast talking about the Mutants' defeat, or the last line of movie 1) and some minor dialogue changes (most notably the absence of a lot of the inner monologues, which is fine, inner monologues don't work very well in film compare to in comics, and the ideas of them still come across), the movies are basically identical.

    How many versions of this story are there? Comic, 90s toon, movie, WatXM, is that it?
    Main difference: it's NEVER Kitty who goes back after the original comic! In the 90s toon it was Bishop, here it's Wolverine, in Wolverine and the X-Men it was Professor X who went forward and could only occasionally communicate as they gained clues on how it all went down. Kitty gets no respect.

I hate that they gave her a new ability without any explanation. why couldn't they have used a different, new, character to send Wolvie back or have Rogue do it by absorbing the power from someone else. Marvel already has a sprawling cinematic universe, incorporating the X-Men would fuck continuity all to hell.
      Also, Fox has no reason to either reboot or sell the rights lmao wtf

    what I find ironic the year 2023 is very relavent in the Infinity Saga of the MCU ... now X-men is also part Marvel Studios

    no mention of Nimrod...who is the ultimate sentinel ...able to travel through time, change his appearance, and basically do the T2 liquid thing metal before T2 came out,,,,also the creators of Superjail copied the look and shape of him for their robot!

    Quick question how can The sentinels have killed Ghostrider? I thought that since ghost rider is a spirit of vengeance he couldn’t die unless with holy weapons?

    Both a brilliant in my opinion. The comic was nice sendoff to Claremont from his run and the film just felt epic to me

    Am I the only one who likes The Last Stand just as much as the first X-Men?

      +Luke sol maybe not the only one, but in the small minority, I for one think the first wolverine movie is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be and actually enjoy it, but yeah I thought last stand was just okay, but as good as the first one? LOL, nope.

    • @lukess.s
      @lukess.s 8 років тому

      Omar Reyes if you're gonna state you like a film every single comic fan should loath and then bash my comment with a "LOL, nope" just don't comment

    • @omarreyes7626
      @omarreyes7626 8 років тому +1

      Luke sol I never said it was a bad film, like origins I don't get the hate, and sorry I misinterpreted your words, at first I thought you meant is as good as the first one, even I know origins isn't that good, just like last stand is just okay, to me and most of the fans apparently the best ones are X1 and X2 the order differs but those are top 2, as for the rest, the order again differs put origins and last stand always are bottom 2

    • @lukess.s

      Omar Reyes i did say The Last Stand is as good as the first X-Men, but I fucking despise Origins so gtfo

      Luke sol then yeah you are pretty much alone if you think last stand can even begin to come close to any bryan singer x men movie. there's a big difference between enjoying a movie and thinking a movie is actually good
