Great review Mike & I'd 100% echo all of your comments as true & accurate. I have the Hanle Black on tubeless tyres.
Also just returned from a 3 day trip to wales, fully loaded with camping gear & i dont travel light. The bike was brilliant.
One thing on the servicing there seems to be different advice being given out by dealers. Even though the book says 300 my dealer told me it was 600. They too were booking a month in advance. I asked if leaving it until 600 would affect warranties etc and was told no.
Anway I stuck roughly to the rev range recommendations & she's going in today for service.
Looking forward to bigger trips on this great little bike.
Cheers.
Andy
Hi Andy. Thanks for adding your comments. There are different options from dealers in the service guide. I always stay on the side of caution due to warranty. They are brilliant bikes and do a fantastic job. like you, I can’t wait to get some serious miles and adventures on the 450. Cheers Mick.
Interesting review! I did watch your previous video around the Elan Valley etc, enjoyed that too, it looked like good biking fun. I was never a fan of the looks of the 411 Himy but, IMO, this new 450 is a sleek looking machine with great proportions, so much so that I took one for a test ride a few weeks ago ...... liked everything about it! Problem is, RE have now brought out the Guerrilla and I think I might just prefer the idea of a roadster although haven't ridden one yet ...... hopefully soon 😊 On the point of mpg, I'm pleased to hear what you're getting for swift riding, you're obviously using that semi long stroke engine in the right way. I bought a Hunter 350 last year and have accumulated nearly 7000 miles, it's a great little machine and it regularly returns between about 110 to 120mpg ...... absolutely mind boggling! Not bragging, just saying 😁Cheers, Phil (Somerset)
Hi Phil. Thanks for your comments, and glad you liked the videos. I’ve not rode the 450 road version, but looking forward to trying that out. I thought my 90 mpg was impressive but your fuel economy on the hunter is amazing. RE seems to be getting everything right at the moment. And a great future for us bikers. Cheers Mike
@@RAD_RIDERS_UK Hi Mike. 90 mpg is very respectable indeed for 40 HP and, in fairness, my little Hunter is only half that at 20 HP ........ on a good day 😊 I agree, RE certainly seem to be on a roll at the moment, good looking, well built and well finished machines ...... long may it continue. Something I really liked about your Himalayan, when I rode one, is that it feels like a really substantial motorbike with incredible handling even on some of our rough roads. A brilliant machine! You're one lucky guy 👍👍 Cheers Phil
Good review. Like the “calm gentleman saying normal person things” aspects.
Many thanks. I really appreciate your kind comments. Cheers Mick
Good review and I agree with many of your updates. I have just collected the long awaited Hanle Black 450 tubeless a week ago and took the precaution of booking the first service in advance. 2 things - cost will be around £180 and earliest date was end of september, luckily I have a second bike to use and the RE had been delayed for tubeless deliveries for many weeks.
The running in advice in handbook was 0-311miles - keep under 4000rpm and then 311-1243miles - up to 6000rpm (converted from km 0-500 and 500 to 2000km) Also with the handover was a single A4 sheet 'advice' that despite E5/E10 labels the dealer advice was to keep to E5 super unleaded to get the best results. I run all my bikes on shell super unleaded last 20 years and will follow this advice. Currently only 150 running in miles completed, on esso super unleaded, and the mpg shows 99.9 so over 100mpg - looks like that 90+ figure is very good in general use. Coming 'down' from a bmw R1200 I have no issues with the build and visible quality 0 well routed wires, cables etc, very tidy under the seat, all clips and switches feel solid. Not sure I like the indicator in the display - too small and need to remember the cancel. Already had all the accessories I needed - Zana India supplied last feb when I thought the delivery was march!! and can recommend their items although they are not quite as low price now.
Thank you for your detailed comments. I think the tubeless tyres are definitely the way to go. And I’m totally in agreement with the E5 fuel. I would have preferred to have the RE stamped service, but unfortunately I would needed to plan further in advance. I’ve just covered 750 miles on mine and keeping it under 6000rpm until at least 1000. Really happy with the bike and like you coming down from bigger bikes seems to be a very popular choice. Cheers Mike
I had 2 test rides and couldn't believe the way it corners. Amazing motor, too. You're spot on with Mitas tyres. I'm running EO7+ incredible on the road. Great review
Many thanks for your comments. Its good to hear that the Mitas E07 work well on the road, defenatly my next upgrade Cheers Mick
I've had mine for about three months. Its brilliant in every way. Good review.
Thanks John, and good to hear your enjoying your 450 also. Cheers Mick
It was great, you would think it was a 650cc . Also it does move quick too . Never missed a beat
it does move for a 450 single.
@mikelyon01 yeah ya telling me my HD struggles keep up sometimes ha ha . Or maybe it's just me 🤣
I've bought one , its still hiding at the dealers as have to hatch a plan to sneak it in. Think I got it cheap 1032 miles serviced for 4.3k. I Ride with 2 lads who have bought them. Out in Wales last weekend , I used an old 650 versys couldn't loose them I was so impressed with the capability for a small cc bike.
That sounds like a great deal. well done
That’s an incredible deal
I have a Kamet white and just got to 2,500 miles. Completed all the running obviously and serviced. 180 for service seemed a little high. I have been up to Scotland and did 650 over the weekend. Also getting 90mpg. Vibes are as you suggested and over 70mph isn’t particularly comfortable. Once I got over 1200 miles the bike seemed to loosen up and come alive, it feels a very different bike now and I am loving it. The only niggle for me is the indicator switch and light on the dash. The switch doesn’t have a definite feel when putting indicator on, and you have to remember to cancel them of course, but with thick gloves, when cancelling them they sometimes click across and put the indicator back on. The light on the dash is tiny and hard to see. Hardly anything to worry about, just an observation. I am so very happy I decided upon the 450, do try one if you are looking for a ‘do everything’ machine.
Its good to hear that they loosen up after 1200 miles. I also have a CRF300L and that just got better with the miles. I'm defiantly with you in the indicators. its just a slight niggle but can be annoying. Other than that, I'm totally impressed with the 450. now even more so to get to the 1200 mile. Cheers Mick
Check engine bolt torques, quite often will resolve the vibes on these.
Great tip thank you. I didn’t think of that. Cheers Mick.
I think it’s a great bike to and good value ,My only concern is ride by wire don’t know how it really works what if it stops working and you are in the middle of no where your stuck a cable you can fix ,you got and comments on this mate
Thanks for your comments. I’ve had a few bikes that use the ride by wire instead of the traditional cable. I’ve never experienced any problems or issues with them. I totally understand your point if it does go wrong and you are stuck out somewhere. However they seem to be pretty reliable.

@@RAD_RIDERS_UK and what do you think about ?
@@brunovikingbiker5084 yes they are great. Totally waterproof and very well made. Highly recommend them.
@@RAD_RIDERS_UK have another link? don't work
Thought my 500 Hornet was good at 70 mpg…90 is amazing👍
Id be happy with 70mpg but over the moon with 90mpg.. Cheers Mick
Hello sir may I know is the Himalayan 450 use a steel braided hose or just rubber hose, thank you
Hello sir The hoses are braided on my Himalayan 450. Cheers Mike.
What about if you geared it up ( front sprocket ⚙️ 1 tooth ) would drop RPM around 500 RPM .
Great suggestion. If that works, it would be a good cost effective improvement. Cheers Mick
@@RAD_RIDERS_UKI know it was a common mod with the old 411 , going to a 16 tooth front , if you try that out post it will you , haven’t found a video of someone doing this but most talking about a bit of vibe , that is a single cylinder but . I went up a tooth on a previous bike a SWM 650 Superdual it dropped the 0:08 RPM around 500 and didn’t effect off road ability ( as the engine has loads of torque) - like the 450 .
On my 411 Scram I use a 16 tooth sprocket and a K&N air filter as well as a different silencer. It is more comfortable to drive, in 2nd gear 80 km/h - 3rd gear 110 km/h - 4th gear 122 km/h - 5th gear 132 to 135 km/h. This makes it easy to drive at speeds of around 120 km/h on motorways.
I can’t believe you got 90mpg. I was getting 53mpg on the Niken. 😮.
@@GillyBikes yeah 90 mpg. I wasn’t talking it easy too. Impressive
Don't believe that horse hockey.
Individuals performing the 1000 mile run in 24 hours or Iron Butt can attest to MPG.
Documentation speaks loudly.
Everyone complains about the side stand, but they don't know why it's made that way. When you're in the tight streets of a town in the mountains, where there's not a single flat spot to park your bike, then you'll appreciate the side stand. This bike was designed for the mountains, stop talking like that. All other bikes just cannot use the side stand when there is a slope.
@@soeft thank you for your comments I totally agree with you on the side stand. It’s not an issue. and as you say made for parking on mountain camber roads. Also people complained it was too long on the 411. Can’t please some people. Cheers Mick
olá do Brasil!! A himalayam 450 tem o desempenho parecido com o versys x 300?
That’s for your comments. Unfortunately I haven’t rode the versys 300 sou unable to comment on this one.
Test riders in the states are not getting anywhere near that mileage. 50-55 MPGallon's here.
The 411 is around 65-68 MPG
🤔🤔🤔
Thanks for your comments. Very interesting to hear that. Maybe its the climate, sea level or fuel grades. My good friends in the UK are getting similar results to mine on their 450's Check out Nathan Millward.. aka nathanthepostman review on the 450. He is a very well known in the biking community. Cheers Mick
UK gallon=1.2 US gallon could be part of it...
US gallons and UK gallons are different. 90 UK mpg is equivalent to approx 75 US mpg.
👍
