Appointed To Bear Fruit

Matthew 21:18-19
”Now in the morning, as He returned to the city, He was hungry. And seeing a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, “Let no fruit grow on you ever again.” Immediately the fig tree withered away.“
This story symbolizes God’s judgment on Israel because of her fruitlessness. Outward, she appeared very spiritual but there was apostasy (abandonment of faith)
The story still speaks to you and me today. God desires us to produce fruit.

Jesus cursed this phony fig tree, its leaves gave it an appearance of fruitfulness, but it was barren.
I intentionally used the word “phony” because it clearly describes the state of this fig tree. This word means counterfeit, fake or artificial.
Dear friend, do not pretend to be fruitful, rather be fruitful as a child of God. You are appointed to be fruitful.
