I'd like to take this time to provide a personal comment, now that Case 2 is over.
I joined Elements of Justice back around September 2019, when I was a sophomore in college. I recall vividly coming across the first episode and seeing applications open up for proofreader roles only a little bit earlier. That, of course, was a few years after 1-1, so I was a little late to the game, as it were.
I was admittedly a little hesitant to apply. For one, I wasn't sure my experience would match. After all, I hadn't played every Ace Attorney game, and I was starting to fall off the pony ride around that same year. Seeing the thrall of applicants was also concerning, and given my college workload, I wasn't sure I'd be able to stand out.
Still, I tried anyway--and I was surprised when, some months later, I got an email saying I'd been selected to join the writing team.
Even then, my role was limited, by my choice. Aware of how much work I was doing for college and not thinking of this as anything but a fun hobby, I thought it would be better if I remained as a copy editor at most. I did not look into the editing or sound design or any of that for the rest of Case 1 because I didn't think I needed to.
Case 2 began largely the same... but very quickly changed.
I, for all my lack of experience, became a musician, because we needed someone to compose custom tracks, and I wanted to learn.
I, for all my uncertainty, stepped out of the copy editor role and began to actively participate in the creation process.
And now, at the end of Case 2, here I am: a writer for this project who will be nearing his four-year anniversary in September; the team leader for the musicians, working alongside amazing talent like Aljavis and Jyc Row; planner and developer alongside Mr. G for Bonds of Justice content; in short, someone who has been juggling a lot more hats than he had ever thought he would... or thought he would be capable of.
Case 2, for me, has been a case of personal evolution. I learned to step outside of my comfort zone and take the initiative. I learned how to lead and let others lead. In nearly four years' time, I have changed as a person, made incredibly friends and memories, and have never felt more fulfilled in what I am doing than I do now.
For all the hemming and hawing and for however long it took, I am immensely proud of the fact that the first major production I saw from start to finish DID finish. And I am more than excited to show you all what we have next in store.
Thank you for watching! And here's to Case 3!
    -- Jarvy Jared
    Veteran Series Writer
    Team Leader of Musicians
Lead Planner for Bonds of Justice, Season 1

I keep forgetting that Overgrowth (Katie Randolph) has voiced both Fair Devotion and Sugar Stamp. They just sound distinct from each other as if they could’ve been voiced by two separate voice actresses. She’s _really_ good at that, especially in this final episode of the second case! Bravo not just to Katie for the spot on performances here, but everyone else involved for their contributions to keeping me and everyone else hooked!

That was a wise choice of Luna to send Turning to military school because she knows pretty well about the importance of a second chance, and better yet because this is not a reward but a solace for him, he already has his punishment for the rest of his life by carrying in his conscience that he killed his father, and this is a chance to make Royal Order proud the right way.

Not to mention Equity is trying to put a rift between Twilight with the Wright anything Agency & among themselves. It feels like she is trying to proof Friendship is mean less when the truth can break it. But sometimes the Truth can proof that Friendship can pull through and overcome hardships. Phoenix should know better than anyone that Friendship has helped him find the truth and catch the true culprit. But I think it’s one friendship lesson that Athena, Apollo & Twilight need to learn.

Man, Athena's extended breakdown as all of her witnesses stone wall her trying to shield Turning at about 50 minutes in is *hard to watch* in the best way. That was actually some amazing acting and its hard to watch as our atorney looses her grip on the trail, and looses her composure as well. This was *gut wrenching* especially knowing that Luna herself also followed her own chain of logic to the same conclusion in the last part and was grappling with this moral issue just as much as everyone else present, if more stoically... damn, the characters, writing, animation, and acting all came together for this one.

At long last, we reach the end of this mind-boggling, heart-wrenching, twist-filled case, and get to the root of what really happened that dreadful night in the Everfree Forest. As always, you all have done an amazing job at weaving so compelling and incredibly a narrative. As should be expected, there will be spoilers below in this comment, lol
For giving a final testimony, Fair Devotion didn't pull any punches once she was on the stand. She proved herself to be incredibly shrewd, clever, and poignant in her words. It really stung to see her get under Athena's skin by attacking her emotional weak point: how much she stumbled during this case, jumping from one theory (and one culprit) to the next, a sign that she shouldn't be trusted with being a lawyer or a psychologist, even going so far as to cast doubt on her ability to use the Mood Matrix. Poor Athena's struggled this entire case with standing up for herself, proving that she doesn't need to be held by the hand to defend a client, but there's no denying the false steps she's made. Even so, it's helped her realize what she should have been focusing on all along: not winning or losing a case to satisfy her pride, but reaching the truth, no matter what it'll lead to, a conclusion that shows why she's more than worthy of being a member of the Wright Anything Agency. Twilight's willing to fully trust her as well, even after all that's happened.
But holy crap...What an absolutely heartbreaking revelation...Turning Page DID kill his father, if only by accident. Royal Order saw what Fair Devotion was saying when she said their son had become reckless and careless, not caring about the consequences of being so cavalier. In trying to ease Turning into understanding how he ought to conduct himself from now on, Turning...took it too hard, and...And all of this sprung from Fair Devotion wholeheartedly refusing to let her son be convicted for his father's death, managing to get Sugar Stamp and Private Eye to cooperate with her, and even convincing Sweetie Belle to keep silent. So much pain and hardship, born out of a strong love for this young colt...Turning won't have to be sent to prison thanks to double jeopardy, but no matter how this case would've gone, if Turning had never been accused and his mother and Sugar Stamp took the blame for the events of that night, it would still have ended in pain and heartache...It only goes to show that when the truth comes out, it won't always be a happy ending...There's also the fact that all of this started because of Diamond Tiara blackmailing the Crusaders. If she hadn't been so petty and vindictive, none of this would have happened. She bears quite a bit of the blame for all of this...
At the very least, there's a good chance that Sugar Stamp will be able to watch over Turning, and Fair Devotion is very proud of the honest, loyal, bighearted colt her son has grown up to be. Royal Order would be very proud as well. All of the voice cast have been excellent, but I think Overgrowth, Fair Devotion's VA, deserves especial props for all of the emotion she put into her lines. Powerful stuff...
Man oh man, though...If ever a victory felt hollow, it would be this one: the Crusaders still broken up about the secrets they kept and the actions they took, Apollo wondering if Athena really did do the right thing, given how things turned out, and Applejack, Fluttershy, and Pinkie still hiding something from Twilight...And now, Lawkeeper Equity. From her talk, she clearly thinks that while the truth does need to come out rather than fester behind lies, the truth only goes to show what a person, or pony, is truly like, and determine whether or not they're truly worthy of trust. And now, she's planting seeds of doubt in Twilight's mind about her friends' actions. Just what is her game, and what are Twilight's friends hiding?...
And now we're back to Overall Concept and his mysterious death...and Rarity's accused of murdering him?! What's going on here?!
And even more bitterness and doubt to conclude this case on, as Equity points out the disquieting truth that, much as Twilight and the Wright Anything Agency speak of trust, Twilight's not willing to be honest with them about certain things...What lies at the root of all this, and why does Equity have so much investment in it?...
In any case, I'll be awaiting with anticipation to see what comes next, and how our pony and human friends move on from this.

Edit: First, Rarity's friend, then her sister, and now it's HER! Seems this series is going to be just about saving Rarity and those close to her. 😂😂
It seems Apollo is having some second thoughts regarding the whole "revealing the truth", and since he's probably the next one for case 3, he'll be going to end up choosing either the truth or his client. Personally I am not on his side in this but curious on what he will do later.

At the very beginning of this case, i’ve had two suspects for this murder: Turning Page and Fair Devotion. When the clone theory was advanced, considering how perfect the double murder case seemed to be, Fair’s guilt couldn’t be changed despite the motive of the argument in the statue wasn’t about an affair. Plus, the set-up of the plan was what i was thinking at some point but then, when Athena diescovered everything was a lie, only Turning could be the real killer.
But there was one problem with this theory as Fair’s guilt could still happen at this time as her movements weren’t cleared as we didn’t have a complete testimony of her. I mean, it seemed more coherent to think Fair killed Royal during the argument, no one would have proved for sure she indeed ran away at the middle. Now, everything make sense despite there’s no concrete evidence that was the truth (I mean, it’s the dilemma of logic vs emotions as Fair said, there’s no cocnrete evidence it’s indeed the truth as both Turning and her are unicorns).
To be honest, now that i think about this, this whole set-up remininded me something for a fancase i never had the occasion to write in a fanfiction but it really make sense now. I just understand why Fair insist that many times it couldn’t be true because it’s a verdict obtain on emotions, not "logic". I misjudged Fair because i was really focused on the logic of evidences because it was the more "coherent" ending, after all.

I agree. I'm disappointed at Apollo for that. Athena was facing some heavy pressure and a lot of complications. Apollo wasn't even doing the case, so he shouldn't be trying to act like she should have done better when even the complications caused by Fair Devotion and even Turning Page made it so tough to find even the truth. Although Apollo is fresh out of what happened on Duel Destinies. So he's still emotionally immature since he has his grief about his friend's death.
Even Phoenix found out the hard way when he had a client that managed to put Maya in danger and used Phoenix's profession to get him out with an innocent charge. Apollo needs to understand that not all endings are going to be happy 100% of the time and being loyal to the point of not pointing out flaws from even the client could be problematic. He should talk to Phoenix of his previous cases. As for Scootaloo, I expected this from a child, she only focused on Sweetie Belle's role and left out other factors that shows that even Turning Page was in the wrong for even trying frame DT and her friend for something he did. She's not mature enough to put all things in factor, she's concerned about what got her accused and that Sweetie Belle in her eyes play a big enough role that not only got her in serious trouble, but Turning Page at the time when she believed him. But RD's another story that she should know that there's more to the story than her grudge with Sonata. She feels betrayed by her friends, yet can't see that they are trying to give Sonata a chance to do right. She's mature enough to know better, but refuses to see anything else. She's justified, but not for long when she abuses points with her past. She has a mantle of being one of the Elements, she hasn't acted like that ever since. She at least needs to be called out for her actions, but in a way that will allow to mature.
Whatever the other pony's secrets have, better not fuel the fire, because it's getting worse with even our beloved lawyers caught up into it.

I..have no words...What an utterly fucking soul crushing conclusion this was. This finale brought it home to the finish line and then some with a nuanced look into what defines what each character has tried to do with their best of intentions, make a genuine difference.
*MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW OF COURSE, SO STRAP IN THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG ONE*
Whether you look at what Sweetie Belle, Fair Devotion, Turning Page, Sugar Stamp, or Private Eye have committed in their actions, each integral character in this devastating case spiraling out of control, due to an angered outburst unintentionally causing the permanent loss of a caring soul, they all wanted to save individuals important to them. Can't begin to imagine the unending grief Turning was bottling up after striking down his father in a blinding rage. He never meant to hurt Royal Order obviously, but Turning was internally devastated hearing his father claim, "You're not ready. Not by a long shot...". There's a real somber symbolic weight to this whole ordeal. Royal Order's parenting had molded Turning so strongly it became his very identity to join the Royal Guard's ranks, or sole purpose if you will. Dedicating himself to his father's code of honor, only to then have said role model get a severe wake up call. In that split second, it must've been felt like Turning had a knife twisted into his heart, making him go berserk. Royal Order died in a grisly manner all because he loved his son Turning to above and beyond, as we see why Fair Devotion was so Hell bent on taking the fall for him. Fair dedicated herself to do right by Royal Order's love for them desiring to show her son that, despite their differences previously, she wanted nothing but the best for him. That is what honestly impresses me most of all about the entirety of Case 2's story and characterization, to boot. Much like Athena stated, "It was never about getting a victory for a client, but saving the life of someone precious.", which you can pretty much apply to many scenarios throughout this Case's twists and turns down the rabbit hole.
Fair Devotion's breakdown was painful to see her cave in. After maintaining an arrogant bravado and playing serious mind games with Athena, beneath it all was still a heartbroken mother whom wanted to protect her son from getting severely punished. No doubt, Fair was likely beating herself up for not being a "better parent", where she felt accountable for Royal's death. Who is to say maybe Fair felt like she deserved to take the fall for this involuntary murder, given she had ran off and wasn't there to help calm Turning down? There's a lot of in-depth self loathing that can be picked up on from her tearful pleading, "Royal, how can you ever forgive me...?". All the planning Fair desired had gone up in smoke instantaneously, given the honorable mark Royal had left upon individuals, like Private Eye and Sugar Stamp. Athena didn't need evidence anymore to finish off Fair's mind games. All she needed was to emotionally reach out to Private & Sugar Stamp in painting the full repercussions of what could happen if they stick to their guns in cover for Turning. Seriously, a round of fucking applause for the dialogue written in those respective rebuttal speeches Athena had against Fair's arguments, when being questioned about her competence as a lawyer and Turning's best resolution with going the double jeopardy route preferably. This final episode was a buffet of strong dialogue and character interactions.
Can't begin to throw enough praise your way for how greatly written Athena was handled throughout this entire case's run. Y'all have given her characterization serious agency and weight, in contrast to what little was done with her in Spirit of Justice, if you can even really call it that. Case 2-9 put Athena through the emotionally distraught ringer and then some, having straight up poured every fiber of herself into convincing Turning to not go down the same route, where she couldn't save Simon from prison as a child. The greater tragedy here is Turning did indeed kill Royal, albeit by involuntary murder, unlike Athena whom lived for good amount of years falsely believing she ended her parent's life. By far, it astounds me to see so much justice done for Athena's arc of development. Taking on a case wanting to prove herself and save another innocent child from suffering the scenario of, "What if I really did kill my parental guardian?", only to then flip everything upside down in giving Athena a bigger hurdle to overcome, having no choice but to convict her client of being 100% guilty for killing his father. This will haunt Athena for a long time to come, indeed. It doesn't matter that she found the truth, even if Athena is happy to have followed Phoenix's beliefs. Athena never wanted to see someone else go through what she endured in Dual Destinies, yet here history unkindly reminds her life can be cruel in every sense of the word. Having to dive back into said unending darkness, which ate away at Athena's conscious making every single day previously a walking nightmare and poignantly realizing getting Turning convicted was their best course of action to prevent anymore heartbreak? Good lord, talk about one Hell of a way to develop Athena's underdog rise to becoming a stronger lawyer. This is the world Athena chose to stick herself into becoming devoted to preventing other people from suffering serious hardships and it's not a pretty one. One line I adored has to be, "I found the truth, Ms. Devotion. That's worth everything, I should think.", because that line and delivery by Athena's VA hit so God damned hard. You can feel every ounce of reluctant sadness leaking out of Athena's resolve here. Such a bittersweet moment. A moment that signifies Athena's first big step into understanding many hardships of being a lawyer that fights for the truth to be heard, no matter what.

UA-cam wouldn't let me post the full comment for some odd reason, so here's the rest of it.
      *AGAIN SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY*
In regards to Turning Page's revelations on other aspects of this case, I did a straight up double take when he revealed the wagon and scooter were planted at the castle ruins area by him ending up implicating Scootaloo by accident. Like, holy shit, his deep rooted anger against Diamond Tiara & Silver Spoon made him go that far in wanting to frame them for Royal's murder. He's giving Sweetie Belle a run for her money in bitter revenge against bullying. Just another reminder of how dangerous the mentality Royal preached to him about putting evil-doers in their place truly was for a child's impressionable perception. He took it so strongly to heart in his mind pinning a serious crime upon them was "deserved" karma for their manipulative tactics. Not to mention, the severe grief he felt in that if they hadn't stolen Scootaloo's stuff, then it wouldn't have spiraled out of control into him lashing out killing his father shortly after their negotiations encounter. Quite frankly, I was expecting him to burst out into tears once he uttered those words of animosity at them, but it's so sad how much emotional restraint Turning can muster over himself not to cry. Turning isn't like other kids who have grown up in Equestria and the way Royal had raised him unfortunately shows a ton. Royal never intended for his son to be molded into this double edged sword life style, although Fair was completely right in this being a massive oversight. It's fine to stand up for one's self especially when bullying is involved, however assaulting them with a weapon so hard it could hurt them or worse? With great power comes great responsibility and Turning wasn't being considerate of what his actions could lead to, hence the whole situation with Spoiled Rich demanding every bit of money from his parents to be compensated for ruining the dresses. Disheartening would be the best way to describe the pain I felt watching Turning figuratively drowning and couldn't find an escape to confess the truth about murdering his father. What doesn't help either is he wanted to respect his father's final wish to him about listening more to Fair Devotion, too. What crushes me is Turning's expression of sadness at 1:40:10 after the dust finally settled. He wanted the truth to be known immediately unfortunately taking far longer because of stuff outside his control. So many have suffered covering for him and you can see the tremendous regret written all over his face. No child should ever be dealt a hand this terrible in their life. Turning Page & Fair Devotion's farewell before being taken away left me so empty in the best way. No matter how much time passes in their respective confinement, Turning & Fair's love will remain strongly unparalleled.
Elements of Justice Case 2 can be defined in one word, betrayal. A betrayal of innocence, friendship, and family values. Everything that could go wrong *DID* went terribly awful. There's no ifs or buts about it. Athena made the crucial right call in bringing to light what really went down in the Everfree Forest. Unfortunately, even the simplest solution of sticking to the truth and nothing but that still isn't going to be a cake walk, naturally. Consequences will follow after this with those that were deeply hurt by many of these revelations will stay so for a good long while. A family torn apart by a grisly accident, the Cutie Mark Crusaders brutal falling out once court was adjourned, Fair Devotion likely to face being in jail arguably longer than Private Eye or Sugar Stamp given she orchestrated this whole cover up, Apollo questioning Athena's pursuit of the truth in how she went about achieving it, and tragically Rarity being torn away from Sweetie after already losing so much from this ordeal. If Case 2 is already this emotionally draining, it makes me ponder what dramatic lengths Case 3 will go to in the future? To wrap up my lengthy analysis, all I gotta say is congratulations to making a strong follow up after your first outing with Case 1. Case 2 the entire ride through was a consistently great time overall with genuine twists and turns that surprised the fuck outta me. How lengthy it has been didn't bother me because I was too busy getting enthralled by the escalating stakes and organic character conflict. Hands down, this fan made sequel series has become something truly beautiful in capturing the defined personalities of both franchises.
Here's to your future with EoJ looking even brighter with new team expansion because my God your series is really something else. Nothing but the highest respect to everyone for involved persevering on such a demanding juggernaut of storytelling. It's very inspiring.

Damn near brought to tears. This whole case was such a wild ride over the past 2 years and it was completely worth the wait. After having the chance to let this stew in my head for a while this is the type of story that I want to see more of: the type that makes the main characters question their principles and makes the audience do the same. As hard as Athena fought for the truth and she won, her reward was to watch a family get torn apart and see a friend group brought to the brink of destruction. Was there another path she could have taken? Maybe, but you're forced to ask yourself: what is the truth worth? What are you willing to sacrifice for it? And in the context of Ace Attorney: What is your purpose as a lawyer? That's a question Phoenix had to grapple with once in the early parts of his career but the consequences were never quite so personal. Equity is right, their friendships may not be as on level or forthright as they appear with the insistence of keeping secrets from each other even under such high stress circumstances. It also seems like another trial of faith awaits the Agency as yet another friend is put on the firing line. Who knows what will happen next?
As for Overall Concept's case, when I said in a community post that him killing himself over stolen property struck me as excessive and that there were still some loose ends, what we got was not the direction I thought that would go. Even though it's been 5 years for us, it's only been a couple of days for them. We never did learn what Rarity's involvement in the case was or what her movements were that day since they weren't relevant, but now that there's apparently new evidence that implicates her we're going to have to hear about it and anything could happen. Putting all of this together was such a huge endeavor, just rest for a while. We've got plenty to digest before anything else happens.

There really was no happy ending for anybody, and now friendships are being strained or nearing the point of shattering. And on top of that, there are more secrets being kept, seeds of distrust are being planted, and it all ends with one of there own being accused for murder.

But now there are more questions left behind in the aftermath of this Case: What secrets are Fluttershy, Pinkie, and Applejack keeping? Why did Twilight summon the Wright Anything Agency when she seems to be capable herself? How does Rarity possibly tie in to the murder of Overall Concept, and what "evidence" did they find? The Base Cause of this is what happened with Royal Order and his son and her wiliness to keep it all a secret and have someone take the fall, even herself if it meant protecting her son. She had three other ponies involved to that effect. Her efforts to protect her son ended in separation from her son, and caused rifts that each involved now pay the price for their attempts to protect everyone from heavy punishement. Private's career is shot dead. Sugar Stamp will face punishment, and Sweetie Belle's interference now strained (near shattered) her bond with her friends for trying to protect Scootaloo since their rivalry with the DT and her friend pushed too far into a dangerous situation. Of course, Turning Page is not exempt from his actions, he even wanted to frame those two as well. Scootaloo even missed that and focused on Sweetie Belle.

Actually, this whole incident is Diamond Tiara's fault had she never tried to blackmail for the golden fabric in the first place.

Equity is the real villain, and there is nothing you can say that can change my mind.

    To use a TeamFourStar quote here;
“Ok, first: WHAT! Second: THE ****?!”
    Final thoughts time:
I… was not ready for the outcome. We knew the true identity and all but the road to get that conclusion. Holy cow…
If anything, this shows how much time and effort you all put into this. Because, my god. Ten out of fricking Ten.
One thing I will note is I am glad you didn’t go with the whole cliche happy ending theme at the end of the trial because this was NOT a happy ending. One small accident lead to a domino effect of lies on top of lies and ramifications in every direction. I’ll be billing you with the amount of buckets tears I had to fill. (Kidding)
Off all things I was expecting from the aftermath, Apollo was not one of them. Especially not the first case becoming another chapter in the story.
    Bring it on, Turnabout Discharge!

So the grand finale is almost upon us, the truth of this case will finally be revealed. If this video is gonna be anything like the last one, it may turn out to be something nobody could expect.
