Thanks for this, I’ve got an Weimar Germany gcse today and because of the amount of Nazi Germany things we get taught I forgot all about the Weimar Republic 😂🙏🏻

In the years of Crisis (1920-1923) did the Rapallo Treaty have a significant impact on other countries (especially France the British) because of the Soviet Union/German agreement. I mean two common outcasts, teamed up for a common cause.
Great video however the timeline is incorrect according to google. Yes these events happened in for example 1919 but the dates don’t go in order, nor are the dates mentioned
Best of luck! Don't forget we have another Weimar Republic video (shorter summary) plus lots of videos on Hitler and Nazi Germany so do subscribe and check them out! :-)
It would be vast and fascinating. Countless stories/movies could made from the numerous struggles of the people of Germany at the time. Germany at the time had a sizable population of 62 million. It was struggling to get through it's loss of ww1. Massive inflation, high unemployment, desperation and thus as always...it gave way to extremism.
@@aone9861 it's not just about people knowing it's being printed, it's about the amount of currency units actually floating about in the system. There will be more money chasing the same amount of goods, causing the prices to rise. Although bear in mind that the effect isn't necessarily uniform, so you might see certain assets rise in price before others, e.g. lumber, housing, or stock prices increasing before you see food prices go up in the supermarkets
Great video, thanks! I am particularly interested in 1st or 2nd hand accounts of the street fighting between leftists and rightist in the cities leading up to the NS ascension. Anyone got any links or sources for this stuff?
Left wing? Right wing? Are you referring to liberalism vs conservatism? Last time I checked, Hitler didn’t rule by a conservative or liberal political belief...
These terms did not originate in American political discourse. They have existed since the time of the National Assembly of the early French Revolution, with supporters of the monarchy (essentially traditionalist, conservative elements) on the right, radicals and supporters of the abolition of the monarchy on the left. When the Nazi regime is described to as 'right-wing' or 'far-right', this refers to its essentially traditionalist, conservative views on matters of governance, social, personal and family life, and the German nation. It is a reasonable and appropriate distinction. Understanding the relative historical distinctions between how these terms apply makes the political climate of the period much easier to understand, instead of assuming that words used at a certain time have identical meaning to how they're used now in very different contexts.
The NSDAP was NOT renamed the Nazi Party. "Nazi" was a short-hand of "national socialist" in German by its critics, mainly OTHER socialists and liberals. The party was only renamed from DAP (German Worker's Party) to NSDAP (National Socialist German Worker's Party) to better describe the party's policies as both nationalistic and socialistic, on top of "caring" for the efforts of the working people.
You missed the financial troubles in which caused the allies to invade. Inflation caused all the anti Semitic and cultural problems within the republic.
The treaty didn't have this "war guilt" clause that placed the "sole responsibility" for "beginning" WW1. What this refers to is the clause that places the responsibility of Germany for the DAMAGES they caused during the war, and the REPARATION for such damages they caused. Dis- and disinformation is rife in this industry.
Article 48 is unnecessary. All you need is a crisis, media support, and a few key opinion leaders to support ruling by decree or executive order. Morale may be a deal breaker after some legal due process but by then it may also prove successful. The Weimer situation (development ) is attributed to more seasoned political wrangling to stabilize government on the center of both left and right political affiliations. It wasn't the people, per se tasked with electing a centrist government body. It was the politicians themselves trying to create a semi functional government with all the fringe and popular factions along Socialist political principles. This proved to play into the hands of groups that found instability advantageous.

Omg I need to know ASAP!!
Of course not, there's alot of other things you need to know, but this is probably just the basic knowledge you need to know about it.
I think it is but there is a whole lot more detail in terms of dates which will probably matter

Why is it "ironic" that printing more money would reduce the value of the currency? Isn't it just what we would expect?
Ironic because they were trying to print themselves rich, and instead ended up causing hyperinflation.
@@Bcbweb but it's still the same thing. The ultimate end result is inflation.
I don’t get it if they knew printing money could make the money have less value why didn’t they do it in a way where no knew it was being printed

How in depth can an 18 minute video be that covers a period leading up to a world war?
i find playing it on playback speed 0.75x is better . just taking it word for word making sure you don't miss out in any key words

Wei-mar, not "Wam-mer"
It’s not that deep
It you're going to be that pedantic it would be more like 'vei-mar' not 'wei-mar'
