  • Thought about doing this for a while. I decided to give some tips and tricks around High Plains Raceway (HPR) that work for me. If you have success driving different lines, please share below! Knowledge is power! Hope this helps a little, sorry for how long it is, I tried to cut it up to make it as short as possible.

Good stuff. I recently bought a 2020 mustang pp1. I've never been on a track nor have I ever cared to be until I drove this car on a highway on ramp faster than I ever thought possible! I knew right there and then I want to try a track someday. Next summer I plan on going here. It's 750 miles away tho. There's nothing close to me except 1 track but they don't have open laps days. I've been doing research about HPDE here. That's my plan. I'm doing a few mods to the car but I want to keep it a friendly daily driver. I plan on changing the brake fluid and I've ordered extra brake pads. I'm hoping the factory pads will make it a day or two. Most people say they should considering they are pads on the brembo calipers. Plus I'm a newbie so it's not like I'll be super fast. How often do you go here? Anything else you'd recommend I do to my car?

Yo! You will have a blast for sure. I recently moved back to WA state, but will be back in CO for a few events next summer. While in CO I went to about 10 open lapping days at HPR each season, which is definitely on the high end lol. Pueblo Motorsports Park is also in CO and that's a lot of fun too! HPR is definitely more high speed, which is a blast.
Luckily you don't have to do too much to be ready for a track day. Your PP1 will be awesome. Brake fluid and pads are two really big ones so you're already on the right track. Besides making sure your other fluids are topped off there's not much else you need to do really. Tires near the 150-200tw rating are very helpful, but you can honestly make due with what you have. Once you're on track you will get an idea of things you'd like to improve for the future. Everything is a progression so don't feel the need to do a lot all at once.
      Have fun!!!

Ha yeah they were the cheapest gloves on Amazon at the time. Their palms are tearing already. I only use them as a sweat barrier so at the moment they're still okay. But I am planning on buying myself some nicer gloves (and shoes) for Christmas :D
