I have never once twisted/injured my ankles wearing Air Maxes or Jordans but the Nike Cortez’s yes probably once or twice I think it’s because of its small outer sole.
This shoe uses same technology and phisics as prothetics made for disabled runners. Enitre construction is made in such way that energy during movement is not wasted when foot hits ground but is tranfered in forward motion.
if you strengthen your ankle stabilizers you wouldn't need to worry about it, i honestly can't remember the last time i got injured from twisting my ankle
While I don’t disagree with these shoes being banned from official races it makes my wonder why shoes like the Alphafly and Vaporfly are still perfectly acceptable to use.
For me, the only time I ever twisted my ankle running was when I was running near a tennis court and I stepped on a stray ball. It really fucked up my ankle but I have never twisted an ankle other than that
This shoe is a copy of the strength training shoe from the 80’s. It was used by track & field and basketball players who aimed @ explosiveness, vertical jump & take off
Reebok tried to come out with a Jump shoe like this a decade or so ago. Looked like a basketball shoe with a frisbee at the toe end-supposedly it made a big difference but impractical in any use other than a training exercises
yeah i would wear these mostly because i have a very heavy focus on the front of my shows while walking anyways and running in them might be fun as hell
actually, it will take most of the pressure from calves though, these are designed to absorb as much shock as possible. it's for sprinting, not running. if u want to MAKE calves grow, you'd rather use flat shoes more, to make them take up the most pressure
Platform shoes are not new. They are decades old. People even make the platform you strap to your regular shoes. People play basketball in them, run, and do drills in order to work the calf. These type of shoes are 30-40 plus years old at least
these don't work the calves, they're made to increase running economy and less impact on the calves. You thinking of those training shoes from the 90s that put extra strain on your calves to strengthen them. Two totally different things here bro
@PatrickStar-km1dm There is no way to be on the fore foot full time and not work the calf. It can be at a lower impact, but if you're sprinting in them or constantly on the forefoot, that's the effect they will have. You can do that just by standing on the forefoot in normal shoes. The platform just adds more leverage.
@@mistermyself1128 Yeah duh but what you are talking about are strength training shoes vs marathon shoes. Two opposite things, these shoes are design for efficiency not to put more strain on the calves. The super shoes didn't come out till Nike's Vapor Flys in 2016. That's what the shoes in the video are basing their technology off of. Not "platform shoes" 😕
In fact 40 years ago the craze was ground feel and less stack height. It wasn't till 2016 that shoes started adding 40 mm to the heel for marathons. In 2019 Kipoche broke the marathon record in the Alphafly prototype which was then banned and they added legal limits to heel stack and amount of carbon plates. I don't know where you got this "platform" info from for running shoes.
@@PatrickStar_24Two things can be true at the same time. Jumping shoes were out way over 40 years ago. Rebound shoes filed patented in 1985. There were shoes before that. I know because I had a few pair. My dad was a gadget person when it came to working out. The ground feel stuff was hot then two. I had several pair of the Air Rift Nikes when I was still running. That was about 30 years ago. Never ran in those because of the velcro, just wore them. Then you had to buy the split toe socks. The platform style training shoes is what I was talking about. I first saw them in the late 70s. There are these block things you could strap to your regular shoes too. Like walking on a ledge. The big trend of "make your calves grow 2+ inches" and "take .2 seconds off your 40 time" was early 90s. They were in Eastbay for a while too. There was a string of those shoes that came out.
It appears to be a training shoe to improve calf muscle strength like strength training shoes. Run faster and jump higher after training in them for a while. Keeps you on your toes.
They have a pretty wide fore foot, I dont think its danger is being prone to ankle injuries but more dangerous for your foot bones during heel-toe transition...
They look like they would actually work pretty good for running, particularly sprinting because they are designed for running on your toes rather than being a heel stomper this enhances shock absorption and enhances speed

my thoughts exactly
The biggest problem, like most modern mainstream fashion shoes, is they are designed for people with 3 toes
They are doing it on purpose to ruin our feet,Nexus between the medical industry and shoes industry
This one actually seems to have a pretty good toebox. Not ideal, but it's there
Go for Brooks
all running shoes have a at least decent toebox. Even the more fashionable nike shoes like the pegasus

it is because they have removed the height stack and reduced the carbon plate to match the race shoes requirement.
These are just concept shoes by Puma. The clip here is very misleading.

Sprint on their toes. Distance uses more of the foot. There is no way you can run milage on your forefoot.
