You could not beat BLRC night at Hyde road, packed stadium great racing fantastic atmosphere, sadly all gone UA-cam keeps great memories alive. A big thank you to everyone who uploads speedway videos.
I had the fortune to meet Ivan mauger years ago,he was a legend here in NZ,i also had the privilege of transporting his gold plated Jawa, along with his trophies and cups, R.I.P Ivan, Ride hard and ride fast !
Peter had tremendous control over a speedway bike, and was my boyhood hero, I hold him in the highest esteem, even though he hated my local track at the Boulevard Hull....
Peter Collins a true legend and would've retained his world title in Gothenburg if it wasn't for his leg injury and rainy conditions but was very brave to still ride in it such masterclass of a rider.
PRICELESS BELLE VUE SPEEDWAY WHAT A GREAT NIGHT OUIT WHEN I WAS A KID LIVED WEST GORTON BACK THEN LOVED WHEN THEY CAME CLOSE TO THE FENCE AND YOU GOT A SHOWER IN GRIT WHICH USE TO SMELL NICE THOUGH PRICELESS
i lived in bellevue i knew them all my brother lived round the corner from hollins grove off license i used to go for cigarretes their son was chris morton ps i lived in greenwood house
Of course a PC was the master of Hyde Road but it was not Peter Collins, it was Peter Craven who was is in a different class to almost every other speedway rider ever.
I remember Peter Craven only getting post matchrace rides at Liverpool (The Chads). My dad, who was good at predicting the next generation of champions said Peter would never be a champion because he was always falling off. How wrong he was and how we all made dad pay for it later. He had predicted a string of world champions prior to that.

Yeah it was bloody marvellous...and sadly it has all gone. Speedway now is a pale shadow of what it used to be.

My favourite rider ever , watched him come up from reserve at Bellevue

Used to love going to Belle Vue to watch the Aces. The smells were incredible. Bike fuel mixed with hot dogs and onions! Chris Morton was also brill 👍
And the cinder track smell! Especially when you get a face full over the barrier! Happy memories
The fumes are still there 👍

Brilliant , well worth every penny then back in the day
Why we always loved the longer tracks and what a difference the dirt deflectors made.
I saw PC at western Springs in Auck. NZ. The best I had seen other than Ivan
Awesome ride Peter,

A lovely moment Mauger acknowledging Collins 2:54. I'm coming back in my next life to ride speedway :)
Pete Collins is a legend
I met Johnny Green when he moved to East London , South Africa, he and my father were buddies. Green moved back to Newcastle in the U k.

BLRC 70S had better rider's than the world finals.
Agreed the British League had the cream of the crop rider wise..no makeweight Germans, Norwegens, Russians and Czechs.

Collins was just as good round Hyde Rd, just not as spectacular.
