Allan Savory, full name Clifford Allan Redin Savory, is a Zimbabwean scientist, livestock farmer, and president and co-founder of the Savory Institute.
He has appeared in numerous films including @KissTheGround film "Kiss The Ground" and has taught and spoke on Holistic Management practices around the world including participation in the @unitednations COP26 conferences and @TEDx (watch his Ted talk on the @TED channel • How to green the world... ). His insight into holistic complex systems thinking and understanding how we interact with our "Ecoselves" goes beyond agriculture and encompasses every aspect of human life and conflict.

I agree 100% in the Holistic practices that he espouses. What Mr. Savory is saying about having a blind spot is true. He also has a blind spot that he hasn’t recognized and that is the Galaxy and solar system and planets go through cycles regardless of who or what inhabits them! Pharmaceutical poisoning and chemical Pollution are the most pressing issue that should be addressed, by limiting use of pesticides and herbicide is the main area we could address the destruction of biodiversity, especially at the Microbial level Antibiotics “Killing life”. Killing every microbe, insect, weed etc. suburban lawns and a perfect example!
Disrupting the natural environment with our development of new housing! Engineering roadways and drainage systems that accelerate rainfall runoff to go more rapidly, rather than to soak back into the Earth. Slowing the water down.
Allowing some “pests” to live to become food for the birds and other creatures higher up the food chain. And then there’s the issue of sequestering large parts of our freshwater deep within the earth to extract more oil. Water that is permanently removed from the hydrological cycle. Until until the next cycle a crustal displacement occurs to release it back to the planets surface . I know we need “fossil fuels” to continue to enjoy our modern conveniences. No easy solutions. Thank you for producing and sharing what Mr Savory has to say! We all need to be More aware of life that surrounds and supports us constantly!
Absolute legend. His work is vital to reversing desertification. Reversing desertification is critical to climate change!
I think Allen knows these practices will restore balance to all the land if done, but that climate is actually dictated by cycles. Those cycles dictated by the Sun and space. By electric and magnetic shields and forces. I think he knows we are very near the end of MANY of those cycles and he knows what each of them are. I do too 😔. That must be the cause of the underlying melancholy I sense from Allen. It's well controlled but can't be completely hidden. And may God himself bless Allen for the noble work he does. Having enemies only shows he's stood up for something in his life. Many things in his case I guess.

to my mind he is expressing what I have experienced at polyface farms in the Shenandoah valley of Virginia that is led by Joel salatin spent a week on his farm on my vacation some 13 years ago it was a beautiful experience and I use some of those practices on my own small little pot of land here in the deep South low country of South Carolina
When I saw the Hebei floods videos I thought of Savory when he says that dams are prone to failure and extreme disaster.

The problem with humans is, someone will desire to take other’s success instead of creating it themselves.
That’s why he says the problem lies in management.

I have noticed there are a lot of mr Savorys' talks about holistic planned grazing in theory where he talks about global policy etc but not a single video of him out in the field following his herd, herding it and explaining in detail the practicalities and details of how to do it year round in such a way that any illeterate herder, anywhere can see the video and understand what to do and how to do it. How for example can a single goat herder keep goats, whose way is to spread out and browse, bunched together? How can he mix them with cows and sheep who are mostly grazers and keep them all bunched together? How exactly can a single herder carry with him the fencing for the coral offroad in the mountains and set it up on rocky eroding terrain? And what exactly is he to do with newborn lambs, kids and calves without a stable to keep them in?
Wow. No fencing, the ranchers live with the cattle night and day, and the cattle stay right there tightly grouped. Unbelievable. 🤯
This story was right around the 1 hour mark by the way.

Since 2013, I have often heard Alan refer to military planning as the system he adopted for land management but I have never heard him expand on this. What is this 'Sandhurst' planning system?
I think the reason why political individuals/Presidents don’t ensure Allan Savory’s solutions are put into place are because (as Joel Salatin says which is maybe not PC, but it is human nature) you can be a nudist or you can be a Buddhist but you can’t be a nudist Buddhist (because then you will be ridiculed/othered).

What I've found in my almost sixty, is that the minute you use the word holistic or holistically, people's eyes glaze over.
Its time we retire that word.
Find anything else to use, just not holistic.
Same thing happens if you mention solar cycles, it really pisses me off.

Regenerative
Holistic, as you said, how do we see ourselves in a landscape that is composed of dependent living beings sensitive to small changes, including every species age structure?
No I don't think "regenerative" can take the place of the word holistic. And if Allan has been ridiculed ever since, why should we try to avoid all this aversion? It is not that important right now, better to try and correct what we are about, to see the vision of us in nature. Most people have left the landscape to cities to escape from being a part of looking at traces, at the full and divers landscape. It is hard to see what one would do out there with the animals. I think nature can respond quickly, but we are so used to think backwards: to chase our happines as if it was an impossible and rare thing. Holistic must mean the most apt and prefereable society dependent on the environment, and then every decision must be checked to the whole.
I suggest people look into what this person really did. Maybe try typing in his name and 40,000 elephants following his name. See if you still think he is so wonderful.
He has already spoken to this in the context of awakening to the natural ecological process and the difficulty of changing others.
Yes! I do think this man is wonderful. I have nothing but admiration for A. Savory. He did lead the work that resulted in the culling of thousands of elephants, but he wasn't alone. It was approved and supported by everyone in his field. The difference between them and Mr Savory is that Savory learned from this mistake. The others still haven't. What Mr Savory have developed since then... the Holistic Management framework for decision making and the Holistic Planned Grazing process... will show to be the solution that will save the remaining elephants as well as other wildlife.
I have a problem with anybody that labels humanity a problem, even if they put it in quotes.
The cause of the problem is Humans and too many of them.

Maybe he doesn't have the energy to try and get us folk to listen up and get going.He has repeated this many many times on talks all over the world.

I agree with the message but his delivery is very choppy and therefore is hard to comprehend. If I was new coming into this interview I would leave confused as to what the problem of humanity actually is. Just not good delivery.
@@kdavis4910 i understood it all, but his delivery put me to sleep. In a nutshell, he's talking about using regenerative farming practices with livestock, crop rotation, and nature to restore what we've wrecked and that humans and technology has its limitations. He also talks about how the sahara was a lush green forest at one point and how to reverse areas becoming desert wastelands through said farming.
It's not riding population, it's the concentrations of population! I wish those words climate change would not be used. It should be called weather manipulation!
