  • Just a very quick clip I recorded for fun. Didn't plan on uploading, but I figured some of my radio subscribers would appreciate it.
    Last night we had a huge event at church with hundreds of people, and I volunteered to cover radio communication, since that's something that was brought up in the hospitality meeting in preparation for this.
    I brought my TK-8180 and J-pole and set everything up near the childcare desk. I gave my brother and other members of the hospitality team my GMRS/FRS walkie talkies. We were operating on GMRS 10/FRS 2. The TK-8180 is set for low power on this channel, and I did put out my call sign prior to this video.
    This video really isn't much, except for the tail end of my brother replying to my question, and then me trying to contact other hospitality team members in the basement. When one person didn't answer, I called another one and she replied. I got right to helping them afterwards.
    The two walkie talkies you hear are my Audiovox GMRS862 and Motorola FV150 units.

      When I get out of school this year I'm going to record the bus chatter for you. And when l am in high school I get on the bus first so then I could record it from my high school then stop recording until I get to my old middle school if that is okay with you.

      If you hear kids cursing please let me know and just try to ignore it. And if you want to use it for rigs or rods or something please let me know and if I say yes you have to give me permission ryan.

      Yep. More than likely I'll be done with the regular ROR videos by next May.

    Prob exempt from the fcc laws due to being a church! Is that simplex no repeater? Just a tone and no offsets? Thanks

      No one is "exempt" from FCC laws. There is no such thing. Everyone has to get a license in one form or another

      Everyone needs a GMRS license, there is no exempt for a church. and there is no club licenses to buy. each person has to have a GMRS license (with the exception of immediate family who can share one license) and immediate family by the FCC is... Immediate family members are the licensee's spouse, children, grandchildren, stepchildren, parents, grandparents, stepparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws..
      So I wonder if the church is breaking the FCC law, since we did not hear any call sign, and you must do a call sign at the start of transmitting, or end.

    For some reason my bus drivers radio (the 7360( does something like Send Atr then after that it says complete then it goes back to normal.

      When does it do that? When the radio is keyed up, or randomly?

      +msj191961 Dead battery almost you think?

    • @msj191961
      @msj191961  7 років тому

      No. The only battery the radio is powered off of is the bus battery. If the bus battery were almost dead, there would be a problem, and the driver would not be able to take that bus for the day. What the radio is doing is normal. More than likely the radio is setup with a GPS module, and the radio is periodically sending GPS coordinate data back to base. Your bus radios could be trunked, meaning they are run off of a complex computer network, basically, and answer to a system controller. If you want to find out, you can look at the radio screen while you're on the bus. If the signal strength indicator only comes on while someone else is talking, like in this video, it's operating conventionally. If the signal strength indicator is always on, that means it's a trunking system. If it is a trunked system, you're out of luck when it comes to buying your own radio and trying to program it for the buses.

      +msj191961 It only has the GPS, not the Signal Strength.
