Definitely give Splatoon a try! Really fresh and unique game play, really interesting worldbuilding, and just so much personality and aesthetic design in every little piece of the game. There is a bit of a difficulty curve for new players in the game play controls, I recommend trying out a few weapons based on classes you typically play in other shooters (rollers and buckets are heavy, chargers are for sniping, brushes are good for flanking and glass canon strategies, dualies are high speed and mobile, really accessible for beginners) And definitely turn on the motion controls, patiently learning to use them alongside the joysticks is good for maximum fun.

Unlike some folks (bullies) I liked Frye from day 1, but there was admittedly a pretty sizable gulf between her and Shiver, i liked Shiver way more, but meeting Frye in game has really made her grow in me and shrunk that Gulf. Shiver is still my favorite, but Fyres a much closer second than before.
The foot thing is the easiest move to do. I recommend slowing it down and watching it thoroughly so you can see what moves do what. This is what I did when I was trying to learn Ink me up.
