I have followed all your videos on that Playlist. You helped me to fix many issues and can't thank you enough man ❤ However one issue is still exists which is GPU temp jumps to 84 as soon as I join the lobby and some told me that I need to change GPU thermal paste, not sure if it will help me as I don't want to lose my GPU warranty and can't send it to US for the service as I live in Turkey. Idk what to do :(
If you still have a warranty, then you probably don't actually need to change the thermal paste. I have a brand new computer and I have the same temperature issues in lobby.
@Omega Desh You might be onto something. I did have higher frames than it was supposed to have despite ingame settings. I should review my settings outside of the game.
Guys this is not just happening with BF2042. It happens in all games. Unfortunately I have warranty but can't send it to US Asus service as I live in Turkey and Asus support told me I will cover any costs of shipping and taxes 🤦♂️ So it's not worth to send it to them tbh.
A really informative vid. Well done. I'm sure it will be very useful for many BF 2042 players. Many thanks for the time and effort. Cheers, Alchemist1961.
I run a 5800X with a 5700 XT and get around 90-120fps on low 2K settings. 1080p doesn’t help any. When you pointed out that this game isn’t utilizing hardware properly, it all made sense.
Thanks for making this video, I am having a horrible experience with my 5600X and GTX980 and I will try my last few EA pass hours after using the tips from your video. Portal (1942 and BC2 were playable, but BF3 and BF2042 is where the input lag is very noticeable, it seems that the 128 players and the weather effects have a huge impact on respectively CPU and GPU performance and do not add that much to the gameplay really. I already made the decision after the beta to cancel my preorder and buy the Xbox Game Pass for PC (1 euro for 3 months is so good which includes the EA pass) and try out the game for 10 hours.
@@xKibz Download EA desktop and login with your Microsoft account they give you EA play for free. 10hr trial for 2042. Thank god I'm using it, I already bought Vanguard which is enough of a mess for $100 AU
What i needed was better frames what you made me do was bf2042 look like Counter Strike from 1999 xD I mean, dont break the game and make it look so shitty if you really want to guide how to optimize. But few tricks here and there helped a lot :)
you speak out of my heart.. Gaming nowadays is just pure frustration. Big Studios only want your money and deliver heartless and buggy garbage, especially on PC. My pc is worth over 5000€, its my hobby, i love it, but on the other hand we have to deal with trash like this while a 500€ console performs better than your highend PC. beside all those triple A releases, there are all these small indie 3 man dev teams that scam you with fake titles. i cant count all these promising early access titles which were never released but i bought them because the devs promised a nice game... Maybe the golden age of gaming is over, im 36 now and my hobby is getting really frustrating at this point. i dont feel trends like fortnite or warzone, thats not my type of stuff i want to play. Vanguard is optimized very well but i have strange texture flickering and graphic bugs like many other players and this probably will never get fixed. its just disappointing.. My last hope at this point is dying light 2 :D
Great job on the video, thanks. So, if the beta was 3 months old, is this release 2.999 months old? Will be interesting to see how much EA stock drops on Monday and again in a week after the day 1 patch is released (i.e., the one 2.998 months old).
It was clear they lied about the build being 3-months-old. It would have been useless to have people playing on the old build that could have had many of its problems already fixed.
Appreciate your work getting these tweaks out to us. I am at a complete loss for words with 2042. I can only take so many punches with these game launches and it's making me super cynical about games in general now which isn't a nice feeling. Feeling hyped about a game launch now is just an exercise in setting yourself up for disappointment... So gutted to see the direction AAA studios are headed in. The core experience of a battlefield game is so watered down to try and capture mass appeal that it's honestly unrecognisable as a long time fan of the franchise. Going to refund this mess and revisit in a years time and see if it's playable with a mid-range PC.
Wow, I didn't expect that game engines can break lag that heavily! ESPECIALLY a triple A title like BF! This is crazy, and I realize I lost alot of time trying to optimize this game. Always wondered why higher FPS still feel bad in BF2042. Could you maybe revisit the game and test it again? Obviously it got optimized a bit more but I wonder if the lag "Bugs" are still persistent. Anyways, great video! 👍
After I did this is seems I cannot change some settings in game. Like they don't take effect. Also things seem to be a bit pixelated now? Anyone know why this may be? Edit: So I redid the process and my game seems to only want to run in 1080p now(game is smaller than my screen). Even though my screen is 1440. If i change my resolution back to 1440p in game the game will now fit my screen but the resolution stays at 1080p (game is blurry) Any ideas anyone?
OMFG! i still got rtx 2070... and lagging... because i have huge screen... so it feels bad for not having rtx 3060++++ ready for BF2042... but u mister.... legendary! save my ass.. bf 2042 is acually smooth running atm.. love it! thank u
@FR33THY as of the current nvidia driver the Image Sharping or Image Scaling is disabled or greyed out. You can not adjust it. Someone below might have pointed this out already but just didn't want to read through all the posts.
You can change the crosshair colors if you just dont put the pointer in the box all the way to the corner. Move it slightly inwards from the corner and it then saves. Confirmed it with a friend
Another one I found was the Controller Deadzone, this was giving your mouse input a deadzone like an emulator. I added 2 new lines to the config file which helped.
Hey @Fr33thy when we discussed the game running better on xbox series x during the beta, I had a feeling we'd get similar results in the final product but not this bad. Same with Forza Horizon 5. The render distance issues on pc are horrible, no matter what you do but on the Xbox series x, the performance and visuals look almost life like. However, for as expensive and hard to come by pc parts are these days, I'm always expecting things to just perform at a certain level on pc but it hasn't. This whole year has been one big opposites day.
Strange. Before these settings my cpu was above 80% usage and gpu at 100% usage at 1440p and around 110 fps. Now cpu is at 65% usage, gpu at 30% usage and fps around 90. But the gameplay seem smoother and less fps drops. Seems strange that my gpu is at 20-30% though. i5 10600K stock, RTX 3060 ti stock, 16gb 3200Mhz.
We really shouldn't be surprised by this. PM's and C-suite want the game out by X date or else, there are investors expecting dividends in 2022, however, with COVID and high quit rates, we should expect most AAA games to be unfinished. It's a shame. I'm sure the actual programmers at DICE knew this, don't feel proud that their work isn't done, and want to fix it. However, the managers, investors, and executives wanted what could not be done with the resources they were provided.
Nice video Chris! After 5 minutes testing I come to the realization BF2042 is a hot mess! Will check again after patch, but maybe time to shut DICE down if this is the best they can do.
THE THING IS I WOULDNT MIND THIS IF THE GRAPHICS LOOKED 10X BETTER THAN BF4 AND LOOKED NEXT LEVEL, its crazy to think that BF3 AND 4 even look better rn. This have some huge COD graphics vibes.
Not many games/engines are utilizing 5950x's and alike fully... Just saying. Remember it's primarily consoles devs are targeting. This gen consoles has 8cores, so expect 8cores/16threads to get used - ofc. I still hope they could do better, and maybe optimize in some areas. But generally, it's just hard to scale/optimize the CPU workload in games, since there is a fixed 'base' workload that just have to be met, and for example, it's not always possible to just 'divide'/'spread' that workload between more cores. Think back to school math problems: Often you have to calculate/find out some variables/answers before you can calculate the final answer - It doesn't help splitting that problem into more parts being calculated at the same time(in parallel), since you can only start calculating the final answer, when you have calculated the variables needed for it first.
They’ve just addressed the bad optimisation on pc especially the cpu load which is being fixed bit by bit with every update and eventually there will be a big update for it. For now we have to play like this and hopefully things will get sorted soon.
Thanks for the vid. I did what you recommended for most settings. Running with a 5950x and 3080 I'm getting around 100fps avg. Not great but better than what I had before. Playing on 1440. Its a a bummer about how the engine runs and the net code or whatever causes the latency.
@@alkestos nothing wrong with the pc. The game isn't optimized to utilize the hardware properly. I can max out pretty much any other game out right now in 1440 without issue. Bf is a different story.
A new drinking game! Everytime FR33THY says "guys" take a drink of Vodka! :-) (JK) I considered trying for a refund yesterday but after playing Portal, it was enough to keep me around. I wasn't excited about this game after the Beta. I've been playing BF games for 19 years and this is the worst BF release I've seen and that's saying a lot because BF has had a lot of rough releases.
I could tell they were totally incompetent after playing the beta. Battlefront 2 (released in 2017 with Frostbite) looks better and runs better. The only issue is a locked 200 FPS in that game. I also could tell there must have been some regressions in the engine when my 8K Hz polling rate works flawlessly in Battlefront 2 but not in Battlefield 2042. Aren't they supposed to be IMPROVING the engine rather than making it worse??? My friend was away from his main PC and bought a gaming laptop with an i9 and RTX 3060 and gets 50 FPS with DLSS on. At that point, what's even the use of playing? Refund time.

can't believe I'm checking fps boost guides while having a rtx 2080..sheesh..
Game plays well enough on my PS5. Not having a M+K sucks, but it plays nice on the Big screen with a controller
thank you , applied everything you did my game runs so much better and smoother for PC , I will watch for other game specs thanks
Idk what to do :(
the menu and lobby seem to run a lot hotter then the game itself for me too
If you still have a warranty, then you probably don't actually need to change the thermal paste. I have a brand new computer and I have the same temperature issues in lobby.
I would recommend getting RTSS (or similar software) and setting a global framerate cap to your monitor's refresh rate.
Cheers, Alchemist1961.
amazing vid! Here from Stod.
Thanks for this video! Definitely helped with my rtx 2070
I run a 5800X with a 5700 XT and get around 90-120fps on low 2K settings. 1080p doesn’t help any. When you pointed out that this game isn’t utilizing hardware properly, it all made sense.
Bro you nailed it, I thought I was the only one.. Start at 16:30
Thank you bro!
Great guide, thanks for doing this. Any idea why I dont have the 'Image sharpening' option in my Nvidia control panel?
Wait I also have the game pass for forza horizon 5 for three months, but I thought battlefield isn't going to be on it
@@xKibz Download EA desktop and login with your Microsoft account they give you EA play for free. 10hr trial for 2042. Thank god I'm using it, I already bought Vanguard which is enough of a mess for $100 AU
What i needed was better frames
what you made me do was bf2042 look like Counter Strike from 1999 xD
I mean, dont break the game and make it look so shitty if you really want to guide how to optimize. But few tricks here and there helped a lot :)
Thankyou, you got me above constant 60 fps.
you speak out of my heart..
My last hope at this point is dying light 2 :D
waited for this one !
Great work with this!
This is amazing. The difference is night and day. Legend.
OMFG! i still got rtx 2070... and lagging... because i have huge screen... so it feels bad for not having rtx 3060++++ ready for BF2042... but u mister.... legendary! save my ass.. bf 2042 is acually smooth running atm.. love it! thank u
Speaking the truth! Well put an very well deserved criticism! 🙏
@FR33THY as of the current nvidia driver the Image Sharping or Image Scaling is disabled or greyed out. You can not adjust it. Someone below might have pointed this out already but just didn't want to read through all the posts.
great stuff like always ;)
5600x and a 2070 S, all settings on high, DLSS balanced, 1440p, getting anywhere between 80 and 120 FPS. Game runs great.
Mad respect Chris U r the man
You can change the crosshair colors if you just dont put the pointer in the box all the way to the corner. Move it slightly inwards from the corner and it then saves. Confirmed it with a friend
I always trust FR33THY's guides
good video nice job man
Thank you! This worked.
Really wanted to love this game, but I feel you man. This game killed me, back to BF1.
I have a GTX 1070 (8GB)
32 GB of RAM
i7 4820k
and the Game runs way smoother and it gave me 10-15 Frames after this optimization
Another one I found was the Controller Deadzone, this was giving your mouse input a deadzone like an emulator. I added 2 new lines to the config file which helped.
You are the man, waiting for the Warzone video
Why does the latency measure using that physical device defer from the latency you see on RivaTunner value, right after fps?
Awesome video, cheers!
This have some huge COD graphics vibes.
on ultra this game looks fantastic.bf 3 and 4 are not even close.
Modern warfare looks good wdym
Wow. This is quality content. Thanks for your work. Please revisit after patches.
@@Zoinked Yeah, i hope that will be the case, that they can somewhat improve CPU performance.
@@kikuk321 yeah they hopefully will. I think Chris spoke about a memory leak issue aswel which is also causing problems.
I always wait for my boy Chris to do the honors!!
FYI, after the latest Nvidia driver update (496.76), the image sharpening option in the Nvidia control panel (NCP) isn't available anymore.
yeah found that out right now ripp
Great stuff, waiting for the Overwatch video 🤘
you need mesh on ultra or you get pop-in of building pillars and other building walls at range, and you will see enemies through them.
yo FR33THY, do you clear your cache every time before playing?
Sad but true, totally agree. Thanks for taking the time to get real data, even if it is just a massive dumpster fire.
New subscriber to your channel and loving the content. I'm completely shocked how bad BF2042 is
Thanks for the vid. I did what you recommended for most settings. Running with a 5950x and 3080 I'm getting around 100fps avg. Not great but better than what I had before. Playing on 1440.
Its a a bummer about how the engine runs and the net code or whatever causes the latency.
100 avg fps with that rig?!? That is madness. You have to have something seriously wrong with your BIOS/OS.
@@alkestos nothing wrong with the pc. The game isn't optimized to utilize the hardware properly. I can max out pretty much any other game out right now in 1440 without issue. Bf is a different story.
Great video thank you for all your recommendations. It's just 😔.
I like the game and I have faith in the near patch to improve the game experience!
I'm sure thye game is gonna be insanly good in a couple of month.
Thanks
Agreed. Battlefront II looks amazing and runs perfect. I can almost get 60 fps @ 4k with medium settings with a 980 ti
cheers ! now i cant see shit and everything is pixelated and i gained 10 fps on a 3080. totally worth it.
