I agree with a lot of the other comments about wanting non-lethal traps. However, many of these can be used the same way, just use an empty container instead of one with alcohol/soapy water. This won't stop things that fly or can climb smooth things from escaping but anything that isn't able to fly or climb will be trapped but not harmed.
I found this one spider that was living with me on my bed so I decided to keep it and watched videos on how to care for a spider now I just needed a way to get food for it
My grandpa collected bugs for a living in red oak Oklahoma, Karl Heinz Stephan and use mason jars on a board nail to a tree. Not sure how what he used for an attractant before he died.
I understand that some research justifies lethal techniques for taking samples, but I don't see the justification of killing insects for casual objectives. I came to this video to learn about non-lethal trapping methods. I am disappointed.
Most of these could be considered non lethal by removing the killing agent, Assuming you check frequently enough so that they don't starve or get eaten.
