Madonna is an ARTIST. She can take you to a different world with beautiful songs she co-writes and produces. She is in full control of every aspect of her music, lyrics, harmonies, melodies, concerts, coreographies, concepts, ideas. Everything. And it shows. That's what makes a difference between her and the rest.
It would be great if she got them back for the Celebration Tour. I don't think M or the backing singers will be doing much dancing. I would much rather that she concentrates on her vocals and does minimul dancing. Perhaps gets carried around by some the dancers. This is a chance to play guitar and piano.
Donna and Niki have just released a slew of remixes of their version of Rain. Each one is as beautiful as the last. My dream is that some time some place M will once again perform with D & N. Younger fans don't get they say but it's Madonna you're a fan of...and I agree but for those of us who lived through the period of those 3 ladies who made each other better and stronger singers and performers. They each lifted the other up. ❤❤
. This live performance is much more soulfull, melancholic and bittersweet than the album version, wich has lot of sense because the whole show has that vibe. I consider The Girlie Show one of her most evocative and inspired tour ever.
She added the lyrics "just my imagination ( running away with me) by the temptation & "Singing in the rain" instrumentation . It became meaningful & relevant more.
When this concert was originally aired on HBO, Donna (one of the background vocalists) said this was her favorite performance since it was the first time Madonna and the the singers had the opportunity to sit together onstage and really showcase how strong their harmonies were together.
That is EXACTLY how I react to and feel about this song.. Its a damn spiritual journey.. I love it.. I had such a strong response to this song when i first heard it.. Its like a musical epiphany for the soul.. Haha.. Can you tell I like it..? Love your reaction buddy.. It was mine. Keep doing what you do..

This one of Madonna's best live performances. Her other best performances were Sooner or Later at the Oscar in 1991 and You Must Love Me the Academy in 1997. She put a lot of emotions into her ballads. You could feel her raw pain in her voice. Madonna experienced a lot of pain in her life despite her attempts to cover up her vulnerability and make the public think that she is a hard and tough person. She lost her mother at 6 years old and she was raped when she first arrived NYC at age 17. She had an abortion due to the rape. She also lost a lot of her close friends to AIDS in the early 80's. She projected a lot of her pain in her ballads.
I remember the Girlie Show was the first time I saw her live. Wembley stadium, London on 26th September 1993. The second night of the whole tour. When she was asked why did she choose to open her tour in London, she said on this tour that she was not interested in preaching to the choir and she chose to come to London first because that's where she had the most enemies! Haha 😂😂 I will never forget that night for as long as I live. The stadium lights going out and just the red velvet curtains lit up as Smokey Robinson's Tears of a clown blasted out the massive speakers at each side of the stage. The after the show "Be a clown, be a clown" playing as everyone made their way out of the stadium and went to many merchandise vans, to but t-shirts and tour programmes. I had a really broken sleep that night, my friend and I stayed over at the Wembley Hilton hotel. I was on too much of a high to sleep and rest properly. Little did I know that it would be another 7 Years until her next tour and my next chance to relive the magic of being in close proximity to her. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌👍👍

It's divided into four sets, the first explores how sex is lust, passion, creation and tenderess(Rain), the second LGBT rights and HIV education which for 1993 was highly controversial, the third set is how the SEX release effected her and let to the GS then societies puritintical views followed by self love. Originally she asked Gene Kelly to cheorgraph the rain interlude but it didn't fit what she wanted and redid but he died not knowing she didn't use his work he did get credit for it though

One of #Madonna's best ballads ever written. When it was performed live to an audience, the mastery of a live performer and stage presence captivated the audience and of course, myself too. The instrumental interlude was great too. The Greatest Performance Artist EVER. Should listen to the radio mix instrumental of Rain. It is absolutely gorgeous!
Fun fact (super fun fact). Madonna asked italian director Federico Fellini to direct the video. He wrote her a letter to apologise: he could not do it because of his hillness. She kept the letter, saying she was honored for his response.
