Lovely scenery in Austria. The trip looks nice. Have u been to Bertesgarten. Germany. Obersaltsburg. Lovely scenery there too. We have told several people about your lovely videos. They say they have all subscribed. Take care. Best wishes David and Beverley. Norfolk
Hi both and thanks for spreading the word - much appreciated 😊 I haven’t been to any of the places mentioned tbh but I always make a note of suggestions. There’s so many places isn’t there! Hopefully, if lots of other people subscribe I can retire and get round them all 😂 cheers for the support 😊👍
I was speaking to a guy on a recent European rail adventure and he said Austrian trains were one of the best experiences he'd ever had so really looking forward to watching this one when I'm home! Cheers Mark, hope you're doing well.
Cheers Steve, I’m doing fine thanks (much better than the viewing stats on this video 😂)! I agree, you’ve got everything you need on one of these Railjets AND of course you have the scenery outside too! Definitely recommend this trip if you’re ever in the area 😊👍
Thank you for this, Austria was the first country I ever visited, I have traveled the world since but Austria will always be my first love. Steve, Castlefields.
Cheers Steve, you know what, I’d never been before this video. Just never found the need. It was a great train though and the scenery, well, it’s everywhere isn’t it! Wish I’d have done interrailing when I was younger tbh!
I have very fond memories travelling from the Old Wein SudBahnhof through to Klagenfurt when my father was stationed at the Maria Theresa Kaserne in Seidlung Vienna. The power up front was a Kreigslok 2-10 -0 which thorougly enjoyed itself
Great video, Mark! The Semmering line offers a lot of beautiful views. I had the chance to travel in the opposite direction, from Vienna to Graz, in September 2022. Although it was a bit foggy on the summit, it was fascinating to watch the loops and U-turns of the line. It must be nice to go hiking there and film trains passing through the scenery. The station building of Graz got a Brunel award for good railway infrastructure in 1994. There is a badge mounted in the platform access. I never knew before that there's an award like that - but it might be interesting for British people as it is named after one of the famous railway pioneers from your country. Kind regards. Dirk
Cheers Dirk - IKB yes lots of his stuff in the UK (GWR mainly). And that’s the thing with these scenic routes isn’t it - great to ride on them but like you say, filming the trains ‘externally’ so to speak would be fantastic and really necessitates stopping off at least a couple of times en route. I might try that next time because I’ve done a few of these scenic lines now but would like to appreciate the scenery from outside the confines of the train too. All the best, Mark 😊
Cheers bb, yes very relaxing and you’re right, the staff were really good. When I think back to my Regiojet experience, this was much better although more expensive. Sometimes, I guess you get what you pay for…
Hi mark, i frequently use that route down to Graz (I live in Vienna) and I must say, I never get bored of the Semmering pass, it’s just stunning. But make the most of it - there’s a tunnel opening in a few years. 😢😢
Looks beautiful. I have only travelled a little in Austria from Salzburg to Vienna so having done a Swiss tour it definitely looks like an Austria tour should be on the cards.
Absolutely beautiful! I had a trip booked here that ended up being cancelled by the beginning of the pandemic, you've reminded me that I need to rebook it!
This was wonderful to watch😊. Looks beautiful. We had booked to go to Vienna for my 50th in 2020 but then we all know what happened that year! Hopefully we will get there some day soon!
The Semmeringbahn is indeed a wonder of engineering, and also is famous for hiking locations, and was also one spot of the former 20 Austrian Schilling banknote
Cheers Martin, I appreciate your support mate. I’m heading over to Ireland again next week. Not staying long this time but I’ve got a real interesting trip lined up. Watch this space!
Quality train, beautiful weather, and spectacular scenery what more could anyone want? That's when you don't mind a slow trip! It would be great to actually get off the train, and soak in all of the splendor of the mountains. I am jealous of you again.

A real feat of engineering with wonderful scenery thrown in, thanks for taking me along and stay safe, cheers.
Yes, a lot of work gone into this and of course there’s a new tunnel being built which will change the route somewhat. Cheers Simon 👍
Amazing trip, Well done mate. Absolutely love rail jet, travelled on it last year and it was the best rail experience I ever had.
Cheers Kai, yes I’m inclined to agree. Great quality throughout. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for I guess.
Wonderful scenery. But that station ceiling ugg...
Yes it is an acquired taste isn’t it. I guess they must like it for the time it’s been there!
I hope to do this trip before the Semmering Basetunnel opens.
Great video , although I would expect nothing less from your good self 👍
Thanks Adam, appreciate the kind words 😊👍

Cheers Derek, whilst today’s train isn’t quite as exciting as yours was, the route was certainly impressive 👍
Brilliant train trip 👍 thanks for sharing
Cheers James, I would definitely recommend it 😊👍

Hi Andy, nice! And I bet it changes with the seasons a lot. Must be spectacular in winter with snow on the ground!
Looks beautiful. I have only travelled a little in Austria from Salzburg to Vienna so having done a Swiss tour it definitely looks like an Austria tour should be on the cards.
Yep, not a part of the world I’ve spent a lot of time in either tbh. Lots left to explore!
Absolutely beautiful! I had a trip booked here that ended up being cancelled by the beginning of the pandemic, you've reminded me that I need to rebook it!
Cheers mate, you should. I was just passing through tbh but it would’ve been worth stopping off so, maybe next time!
Worth the price just for the view, thought the train was nice and the leg room looked massive compared to what I’ve been on, top video
Cheers Mark, yep you can get the fare much cheaper than this in advance too. Leg room was superb, the train overall was very comfortable 👍
Mark, you sure get to some fascinating places. Love the enthusiasm and the well filmed videos. Wishing you a good weekend.
Cheers David, have a great weekend yourself 😊
This was wonderful to watch😊. Looks beautiful. We had booked to go to Vienna for my 50th in 2020 but then we all know what happened that year! Hopefully we will get there some day soon!
Thanks Sheila, yes it was. I really enjoy that part of the world, just wish I could spend some more time there!
