  • Rising out of the ocean almost without warning, with endless golden beaches leading to lush vibrant rainforests and then sliding into another world of almost barren terrain this almost insane combination of topography and it's all within eight small islands. These are the Canary Islands, formed millions of years ago as volcanic forces fought their way out of the depths of the ocean and broke free to the surface, creating this magical archipelago 70 miles off the northwest coast of Africa. Learn more about the history, culture, and traditions unchanged by travellers of the beautiful Canary Islands.

Been fascinated by the Canary Islands and the Portuguese Azores/Madeira ever since I was a kid. Turned 40 this year, and I’ve been to the Iberian Peninsula, but unfortunately, a vacation in these islands still remains a dream.

This place is better to vacation at than the carribean in my opinion. And cheaper too. Americans don't know what they're missing out on.

I wanted to learn about the historical past rather than these newcomers who are transplants going to the beaches.
