J-Dawg man, that was cool. Mr Garza maybe shop around the warehouse and pick up some cool cds or records because anything in there is heavier than ķorn😅
Despised Icon aren't just brought up more because they were earlier. They put out 2 better albums before SS could make their unremarkable debut, which Despised Icon smoked again one year later with The Ills of Modern Man.
Gotta agree. I'm in Ontario, Despised Icon and the Montreal Deathcore scene was WELL ahead of SS. Also pretty respected in the DM world, in the early 2000s.
Two chill dudes I’d love to interview with. Got into Suicide Silence in 2009 right before No Time to Bleed and got lucky enough to see them a few times. Not into all of the records but Garza deserves all the good things he gets. He’s a down to Earth dude.

I love Garzas podcast, our band is more "thrash" but i love the road stories and people discussing recording/production. Turned me on to a lot of new music
I never understood why deathcore fans dont know, dont listen and dont like Death metal. is the reason that scene always will be considered poser. Imagine listen all these deathcores bands and thinks "I very brutal" but never hear about Malevolent Creation, Vader, Sinister, Deicide, Monstrosity, Dismember, Immolation...
Hate watching is a strange phenomenon. I'll never understand watching something that angers you or watching something just to look for a reason to cry about it. Seems like a dumb way to spend time.
Exactly. I’m not gonna go watch some deathcore youtube channel and talk shit just because I don’t like the music, what a lot of free time some people have on their hands 😂
Oh damn, he actually followed through! 🙀 Black Anvil is not a deathcore band. They're part of that NY USBM scene. Kevin Bacon's son plays in that band. The elitists crowd, he is probably referring to the blackened deathcore scene. Everybody thinks Lorna Shore, but there are more than them that aren't as popular or as known as them. I could see that mindset.
Not a SS fan but his podcast really has a finger on the pulse of modern slam. The scene is getting good again and reminds of the early United Gutteral scene with bands like Devourment and Fleshgrind. He's had some great interviews
Their first album "the cleansing" is pretty nostalgic for me, I'll jam it once in a great while... Honestly its more of an extremely groovey/homeboy take on death metal with a grindy production than what deathcore has turned into in the past decade or so. Didn't have any interest in that style beyond that
I can see that.. I remember when they're EP came out and then the first album dropped I had no interest. Checked out the 2nd record just out of curiosity and then the first one. As I have said that genre is just 'fun' metal to give a break from ear fatigue of whatever you're normally listening to. I feel that way about old Despised Icon (some of those drum blasts are insane) and Through the Eyes of the Dead 'malice' is sick closer in kin to something like cannibal corpse than most of the core bands. That was about it for me in that genre
@onewhitepony i remember "malice"... and the first couple job for a cowboy releases, early deathcore stuff like that.. it was easy to throw in real DM like CC and deicide at parties and everyone would jam.. These days it seems like deathcore has an over produced tech-death / slam sound pallette, but is just essentially aggressive hip-hop with emo and/or goth aesthetics. The gap has widened, the new shit sucks
@theakkusor I agree... and then Djent style took over for years and I saw the two styles mingle some. But you're right the old stuff had some gems in there for the style it was. I feel the same way about metalcore. I got blasted in one of jdawgs videos but I still think late 90s and early 2000s metalcore had some sick bands from labels like Tribunal, Solidstate, trustkill and then a few years later Deathwish... but like deathcore it got watered and changed with the catchy emo vibe clean singing stuff. Even Coalesce did a split with napalm death and put a release out on Relapse. I think too many metal heads get closed off to exploring other stuff even if it's for the sake of something fun to jam
Broooooo , love both these guys. Not much of a deathcore guy myself but def respect what he does and what has done for metal. And respect to braw braw here , never in a million yrs would of thought he would show respect by opening with "wtf is deathcore" anyone else woulda learned real quick how respectful this way into is lol

and he doesn't seem to know the bands very well either. He constantly checks his notes and he asks such trivial questions.
"your Drummer, *checks notes* Steve."
*I really loved your album *checks notes*
@@odinsire3879 That's what I thought 👍 Thanks for the heads up .
@@odinsire3879 are you a child? You're acting like one.
J-Dawg unexpected video! Garza has some cool stories!
Garza’s a good dude. Good role model for many upcoming musicians. Respects.
🤘💀🤘🎸
This humming sound in the mic during all interview was pretty deathcore-ish !!! :))
J-Dawg man, that was cool.
Mr Garza maybe shop around the warehouse and pick up some cool cds or records because anything in there is heavier than ķorn😅
Garza here to field all of J-Dawg's 'Poser Deathcore' queries! 😅
Possessed 7 churches….watch out Mike!!!!
He's got a homemade Bootleg that he's trying to pass off as a legit copy with the bad hand drawn cover. 🤣🤣🤣
@@dinkins335genius haha when I saw the picture I thought it was hilarious
@@humanbrisket7718 I died laughing. Worst Bootleg ever!🤣🤣🤣
12:02 lmao this is the paradigm shift many people have, said in the most direct way 😂😂😂😂
Dan liker would be 💯 for you to interview, just as Katon was 💯🤘🤘
That would be awesome
He interviewed katon? He lives about a mile from me
@@NAT-turners-Revenge Katon 💯
Damn! I couldn’t focus on anything other than that vinyl bin in the background that was leaning and warping as you guys spoke!😮🥺🫣
Two chill dudes I’d love to interview with. Got into Suicide Silence in 2009 right before No Time to Bleed and got lucky enough to see them a few times. Not into all of the records but Garza deserves all the good things he gets. He’s a down to Earth dude.
Did not expect this, but you know what? Garza seems like a cool dude.
J-Dawg, this might make you laugh. I went to California this last weekend, on the drive down (14 hours) I stopped in Fresno to get breakfast and a coffee at McDonalds. I also got one of them McGriddle's and it didn't hit me until after I bought them and I started laughing my ass off.
This dude seems pretty chill and cool. Even though i dont know what deathcore is or care or even want to know, I have respect for his work ethic and dedication.
We've reached the top boys
I love Garzas podcast, our band is more "thrash" but i love the road stories and people discussing recording/production. Turned me on to a lot of new music
THIS IS WHAT ITS LIKE WHEN TWO WORLDS COLLIDE!!!
What a fuckin reference
Hilarious reference!!!
That Garza dude really does like korn seen him with the shirt on lol 😂
Good interview between two determined businessmen
Sounds like they got a Peavey 5150 on the lead channel just chilling in the background
Love deathcore, but my favorite band is Death. I like most genres except noise core.
Imagine thinking you're "brutal" because you listen to any kind of heavy music let alone deathcore 😂😂
Dinkins dropping some truth bombs!
As a lover of both genres I love this.
Oh damn, he actually followed through! 🙀
Black Anvil is not a deathcore band. They're part of that NY USBM scene. Kevin Bacon's son plays in that band. The elitists crowd, he is probably referring to the blackened deathcore scene. Everybody thinks Lorna Shore, but there are more than them that aren't as popular or as known as them. I could see that mindset.
Black Anvil is definitely flat brim magnets
Bacon is out, he left last year
That's news to me. Is he out of music like Nic Cage's son is now?
Great interview!
GARZA?! WHERE'S MY FLATBILL, EAR GAUGES AND HIPSTER CANOE SHIRT? WOOOOOO!
Haven’t heard an entire song from this band (I’m a snob, won’t elaborate) but I respect anyone who’s busting their ass.
Fuck ya, glad this happened. I love this channel and I love Garza's podcast.
Not into metal/core, death/core that much, and never will, but Garza is the man. Funny, nice, passionate, curious and smart...
