    Thanks for this and all your other great vids! With VIRL, Cisco used to give the option to download the images separately from the software itself. Looks like they're trying to make it a little less obvious this is possible. It's great to see the love for eve-ng, it just smokes everything else!

    Can you elaborate on what exactly the 'fixpermissions' command does / what permissions does it change?

    Great stuff! Really dig that more people are getting into Eve-NG. Would love, love, love if you could show how to make custom Linux images for Eve-NG and how to install the beefier Cisco images like the nx-osv. I've tried a few times but can never get them to work. :'(

    • @DataKnox
      @DataKnox  4 роки тому +1

      You Linux image might just need to change the console method to RDP or VNC 😁. I think the default is telnet.

      @@DataKnox - I had tried to get the Linux image setup in VMware and install everything I wanted to run, save then grab the vmdk and convert it before dropping it into Eve-NG but then it seemed to get stuck when trying to run it in Eve-NG. Been a while since I gave it a go so I can't recall what the exact issue was. lol... Will definitely have to try again.

      @@gustavomendez6279 Issues I usually have with Fortinet appliances are with memory, try to beef your images up with more RAM to see if that works.

    Thanks for the detailed instructions but I am just wondering if we would still have the legal right to use CML Cisco equipment images if the CML subscription is not renewed ?

    • @DataKnox

      I don’t know the answer for sure on that one. I could guess, but it would just be an assumption. You may want to carefully read the license agreement on CML

    In case anyone has an issue I named my asa volder asav- and put my proplerly named image in there. When I went to add the node eve couldn't see it. It wasn't until I changed the folder name to asav-XXX (the X's being the version of code my image) I was able to get eve to see the ASA code.

    Honest question: If I have a Cisco CML license, why would I use EVE-NG? why not just use the CML environment? Thanks in advance!

    • @mosasa1307

      You'd only do this if you want to add different vender images, such as F5 BIGIP load balancers, Palo Alto firewalls, Arista, Extreme, etc......
