You are a ray of sunshine! I hope you’ll be able to make quilting your full time business. I’m so tempted to start this sew along but I’m trying to resist and stick to making what I already have.
Hi Rachel, My name is Suzanne. I live in Ottawa Canada. I started watching your videos a few weeks ago. Just loving your videos. I am waiting for shapes and fabric for the Hometown Sew along. Great idea to use your scraps. Take care!
Hi Rachel. I was so pleased to see that you posted another video. I just love these quilt blocks (not sure if you gave the bird an eye or not, I couldn't tell)...I've started slow stitching, which is all hand stitching with fabric scraps. I might just be able to use this technique for various shapes I need. I could watch and listen to you all day. I think you're just so lovely. ❤❤❤❤❤
@HazelSmith-y4l good morning, glad you enjoyed the video 😀 i haven't added the eye yet as it's a French knot and I thought it best to add the 3d elements after I've quilted everything. Happy stitching 💖
I am planning to try Lori’s appliqué method this year. I love this quilt and I subscribed to the cross stitch version. Your quilt is going to be amazing!🤩
Love your video’s as always- you make me feel like I can accomplish this too! Thank you for your continuous encouragement! Your channel is doing so well! Congratulations!
Loving your houses Rachel. I'm yet to start on mine. What I have done is cut everything out so each house is in its own bag. Then I just need to pick up a bag and start. For the extensions I just flipped the template over and have them the same way as per pattern. Love you idea of using heat and bond for all the bias. That's the only bit I haven't done yet. So thanks for that idea. I think it looks much neater. You design wall looks great too. 😊
I'm absolutely loving to see your work in progress. It is really pushing me to get my fabric and sewing machine out when I return home from holiday to make my first quilt ever!!! Your videos are really helping to build my confidence up in trying it all out!!!
They are all looking fab! Looking forward to the next instalment 😊 still haven’t started mine but I did have a play the other day and made the sheep ( I love sheep 😂) The shapes are a little expensive but they are very good quality and will last a lifetime, so many uses for them too. Thanks for sharing Rachel 😊
Hi Rachel, that house you're not so keen on really needs your touch!!! Love Vlieseline interfacing.Your fabric changes are much nicer. Lovely video. Xx
I am currently making Lori's Chicken Salad Quilt, and have the shapes to make 3 others of her designs. Your one looks lovely, I had not intended to make the Hometown one as was scared of all the tiny pieced blocks, but as you said you might not do them like that I have ordered the shapes for that now. Thanks for your very enjoyable content.
Hi Rachel, I love watching your tutorials, thank you. I think if your add curtains to the house that you don't like so much, I Ihink it will improve it.
Lovely video Rachel, thank you. Ive done my houses but not stitched any of the bits down, I was going to hand stitch them but after watching you blanket stitch them in place I think that is how I am going to move forward with mine. Ive also done about 8 of the smaller blocks and will continue on with that, Im determined to finish for the summer! Jx
how wonderful! I need to pull my finger out with the same blocks and start making those. I bet yours looks amazing. Any ideas on how you'll quilt yours? Happy stitching x
I just love the colour changes you did for this block Rachel. I'm hopeless at judging colour; just been up to Doughty's in Hereford for some background fabric for my next quilt and chose a colour that had everybody shaking their head!!! but got something I am happy with in the end. On a totally different note I just loved the pattern of the short sleeved cardigan you had on at the beginning of the video as it had short raglan sleeves and wondered if it was a pattern you bought as I'd love to knit it for myself?
I use Heat n Bond lite for all my appliques and have for years. The other way just takes too long and is too bulky in my opinion. I have never had any issues
I love your all quilts. They are always so delicate and feminine and just beautiful. I have to tell you something, I saw you make the brick quilt and I thought Rachael's doing it again. Yep, she's got me hooked on this quilt. I would like to have some hand sewing for when I sit in front of the tv and this one is just the thing for me. So I ordered the template through Temu and I can tell you the product is great, no chance of it breaking because it's made of some heave duty plastic. The only thing is, Temu doesn't include instructions with the product. Well darn, so I've been watching your video over and over till I get the instructions right. I think I've got it down now. LOL Keep on quilting!
Brown does not feature in my quilting. The only little bit of brown is in some Indonesian batik my husband bought for me in Yogyakarta but never as the main colour.
Just a word to the wise. I used biro for interfacing and when I spritzed the quilt the biro ran out onto the white background and never really came out
Another wonderful video and so many tips and fun to hear your thoughts. Quick question; when you change thread colors for the blanket stitch do you also change the bobbin?
Thank you so much. No, I don't bother with the bobbin but I keep a neutral colour as sometimes the bobbin can show slightly, but with it being neutral, it blends into the background fabric.
Rachel, I’m noticing the red and white blocks behind you on the design wall. Can you please let me know where I might find that pattern? Thanks so much!
Rachel may I ask what thread and weight your using? What size machine needle? I read somewhere its better to have a smaller size needle head. Advice please. I too have a Husqvarna Viking machine and loooove it.
Good morning, I am using Gutterman sew all thread for these blocks, I usually use an 80 needle in my machine. Vikings are great machines and its been so comfortable since adding the extension table too
Yeah all the embroidery details are done after the quilt is quilted in the pattern incase any 3d elements like French knots or buttons interfered with the quilting 💖
@@stitchwithrachel I have used Heat-n-Bond on all of my applique pieces and machine stitched with the blanket stitch. I must admit it is very easy but the interface and flip inside out method looks better for a heritage type quilt. My little projects will probably never be washed as they are banners (smallish size) that I change out every month for display. I do enjoy applique work and add embroidered details like stems, knots for bird eyes, dashes for bees buzzin' etc. Lori Holt projects are gems...I must try one soon.

I love your houses. To jazz up the November house, I would add an appliqué cat to one of the houses windows. Thanks for sharing your journey
I love your videos, so relaxing to listen to your voice.

I just left TT and I so glad I found you on here... you are one of my favorite ❤❤
Love your videos. Hello from Texas, USA.
I’m loving your work as usual 😀 I also like your iPad stand ( on the ironing board) can I ask where you got it from please ? X
Thank you, mr stitch brought it for me a couple of years ago for Christmas, probably on amazon 💖
On your house that's missing something, how about adding a couple birds, or embroidered roses on the bush in pinks floss❤
That's such a good idea to add detail to the bushes! Thank you 💖
Kitty in front of the door. 🐱🥰
Hello Rachel. I am on the Tea House right now This is my third block so far. Thank for all the good advice. You make it such fun. Thank you.

🏡These houses are so cute! I love your fabric choices!❤
They are looking so pretty xx❤
I like the blanket stitch on your machine. It almost looks hand done. Thanks for sharing
It really does but in a fraction of the time! 💖
Your house blocks are beautiful. Thank you so much for showing us the process you use as you sew along.
You are so welcome!
Love your video’s as always- you make me feel like I can accomplish this too! Thank you for your continuous encouragement! Your channel is doing so well! Congratulations!
You are so welcome!
I am loving the development of this quilt, it is totally you! 😂 I think you made the right decision in changing the door and shed tops. Xx
I love this and am going to purchase the templates to have a go myself. Very exciting
super cute.
I went the other way… went down the Lori Holt rabbit hole … and found you and then Alice Caroline’s book 😂
Im a bad influence! Happy stitching xx

It really does... far to brown and boring to be in my village 🤣

I love the chicken salad quilt, you could always use one of lori's cheater prints instead of the small blocks! xx
I so agree with you on that bias tape. It is what has stalled me on chicken salad
It's so time consuming, now you know a hack!
@@stitchwithrachel I love hacks lol
Hi, Rachel. What about embroidering a door knob? Do the other houses have them?
Your houses are looking fabulous, Rachel!

I’ve not got a clue how I’ll quilt it Rachel, if I could afford to I would have it done professionally however I have time to come up with a plan 😊
So,very nice........love it and looking forward to more!
Thank you so much!
I love this video, so helpful, I have looked at Lori Holts blocks and quilts for quite some time, I need to start making one, just love it💕🌷

Your hair looks so lovely!
Thank you so much! I treated myself to a new hair styler in the christmas sales x
Lovely quilt. You’ve inspired me to quilt.
I like the November block , I like a contrast against the "prettys" , to make them stand out.
I use Heat n Bond lite for all my appliques and have for years. The other way just takes too long and is too bulky in my opinion. I have never had any issues
How do you seams edges hold up? I have only done that for smaller projects 💖
I am loving seeing this quilt come to life!
Thank you, its such a joy to stitch x
Wow wow it lovely and fabrics good work happy sewing 💯✂️🧵🪡💐🏴👍🥳🌟
Looks beautiful. ❤
Each block you do is gorgeous, and as you add more they’re just a cute village! Love the fabrics you’re using!
❤❤❤
Looks great!! ❤
Love your houses and how you are personalizing them!

Thank you for a lovely comment about my quilts! The QAYG is perfect for TV sewing, I hope you enjoy making the quilt xx

Love this comment!
They're so pretty!
If you have a scrap piece with a cat on it you could always but it in the window of that house that you didn't put the pineapple on.
Lovely block!💕
I think they are lovely cant see anything missing
Looks so much fun. Your houses are beautiful. Which kind of glue do you use? Where can I get this tiny applicator bottle?
Did you crochet the blanket behind you ? It’s beautiful! If so where did you get the pattern from? X
Just a word to the wise.
I used biro for interfacing and when I spritzed the quilt the biro ran out onto the white background and never really came out
I am just starting to sew appliqué pieces. What machine setting do you use for your blanket stitch? Your houses are turning out fabulous
Thank you, I just shorten the length of the stems of the blanket stitch slightly 💖
Thank you! The stitches look soooo nice.
I love the blanket on your chair, can you say what pattern it is?
Thank you, that is the battenburg blanket by cherry hearts x
Rachel, I’m noticing the red and white blocks behind you on the design wall. Can you please let me know where I might find that pattern? Thanks so much!
@@jancox399 that is the knitted star by lo and behold stitchery 💖

I've noticed that none of the doors have letterboxes or doorknobs? Do you have to embroider them on afterwards,or does the pattern not allow for them.
Yeah all the embroidery details are done after the quilt is quilted in the pattern incase any 3d elements like French knots or buttons interfered with the quilting 💖
What Viking sewing machine do you have? I have an old Viking and it’s been a work horse!
They are brilliant machines, I have a designer 50 and before that I had a designer 25 xx
This is on my 2025 list to do. But will not start until June or July.
Why don't u use all heat n bond instead of the interfacing? I've never used that for applique.
This method just means that all the raw edges are enclosed, its just a different method. I also like the fusible interfacing too
@@stitchwithrachel I have used Heat-n-Bond on all of my applique pieces and machine stitched with the blanket stitch.
