Love watching Secretariat race. His owner knew she had something in this horse. He would at last place and just watched him pass all the other horses. Secretariat was one special horse. No other horse can compare to Big Red!!!!!

I remember my Dad saying I may never see the records broken.. He was right of course. Now at age 73, I still remember that special afternoon with my Pop's...I never get tired of seeing :BIG RED run the Belmont in 2:24
Really like the music with this race. Did anyone ever ask Pincay what his thoughts were on that race? Martin told him to stay with Secretariat. Both horses were together at 6 furlongs in 1:09.4. That's enough to burn out distance horses. I noted in a video of the actual race, that Pincay didn't even consider the whip. He KNEW Sham was burned when Secretariat started pulling away to that 11-length lead that Martin, in the movie said, "That's impossible." Arrogant pos. Sham's dam was also a Princequillo mare, Sequoia. Sham was never the same after that race. It ended his career. His 18-lb heart couldn't compete with Secretariat's 22lb heart. Sham didn't have the same conformation either. Secretariat was a perfect racing machine!
Most people today don't realize that Riva Ridge who was also owned by Mr. Chenery who owned Secretariat .In two runnings of the Triple Crown they won 5 of the races . That two will probably never be duplicated . If I remember correctly they were back to back . But very few remember Riva Ridge .

I remember watching this when I was 11 years old. I could not believe what I was seeing. I’m 59 now and I still get chills watching clips of Big Red.
