  • Tips for reviewing a Word document.
These tips can be applied when reviewing any Word doc. In this video I used my friend's CV as an example. I developed these tips reviewing professional reports as an engineer and a consultant.
    The tips are:
    - Turn on paragraph marks (Ctrl+* shortcut)
    - Don't rely on the built-in spelling and grammar check
    - Check how text appears as it flows across pages
    - Avoid too many tracked changes (other people may struggle to read the changes)

Thank you Chris. This has been a great help in setting up a professional report. I finally found an Engineer producing an Engineering report.

As a former literacy instructor (read: grammar nazi) in the Australian Army, grammatically speaking, you do need a hyphen in "decision-making process" because it's a compound adjective (ie more than one word is used in the adjective to describe the noun, which is "process". The easiest way to test this is is to cover up either "decision" or "making" and then read the sentence. If it doesn't make sense, then you need the hyphen. For example, "...assist in the ( ) making process" or "...assist in the decision ( ) process" makes no sense by itself, which means it's a compound adjective and needs a hyphen.
