When Dinosaur was filmed and animated, they had to do filming shots in Florida, California, Hawaii, Western Samoa, Venezuela, and Jordan, and they had to use the shots for the CGI environment for the dinosaurs.
I still gotta commend the Disney team with making such a realistic-looking CG film in 2000, back when that kind of tech wasn't as common/advanced as it is these days… The creativity of having the various locations be filmed in real-life, building miniature sets and doing stuff like all the pyrotechnic work for the meteor scene, it's honestly quite the unique way of getting around previous limitations, and I'd say it paid off well.
Truly a great but underrated movie.

Hi there.
That James Newton Howard is composer Along with scoring small-scaled, independent films such as Five Corners (1988), Glengarry Glen Ross (1992), and American Heart (1993), Howard proved equally skilled at composing for big-budget Hollywood spectacles, including Space Jam (1996), Dante's Peak (1997) (theme only - score was composed by John Frizzell) He was working on universal studios picture, and Collateral (2004).
He has also scored four Disney animated feature films: Dinosaur (2000), Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), Treasure Planet (2002), and Raya and the Last Dragon (2021).

I’ll have to revisit this one with the kids. You have to appreciate the risk taking here even if the final product is less celebrated than most WDAS films.
