  • HOW TO CREATE A NEW NOTE LANE ON LOOP RECORD
Step by step instructions by Mark Palmos, method by Poohbears Reason Channel
    Before opening Reason:
1/ download and install LoopMIDI app, run it and press + to create a new port
    www.tobias-eric...
Note: EITHER choose to run LoopMIDI when your computer starts OR start it manually each time you want to use this loop Midi record function in Reason.
2/ download and install MIDI OUT Device from ReasonStudios, you should have it already if you’re on Reason 11. (was previously called External Midi Instrument).
    In Reason:
3/ Go to Preferences and then to Control Surfaces, and Add Manually a new control surface. Choose Manufacturer=Other, Model=Midi Control Surface. Give it a name Loop Midi Port, and choose loopMIDI Port as the MIDI Input. Press OK.
4/ On the sequencer, (NOT in Edit mode) mark the area you want to loop.
5/ Put the Midi Out Device on your sequencer (find it in the Built-in devices in INSTRUMENTS section), make sure you select MME loopMIDI Port in the blue dropdown menu selection.
6/ In the Sequencer, click on the Midi Out 1 track to select it, and then at the top of the sequencer, to the right of the + sign for making a new lane, click the down arrow to choose an animation lane, and then find MIDI CC03 and select that.
7/ Note that a new animation lane has been created in the sequence, so now add a very short event right at the end of your R marker in the loop on that new CC3 animation lane, and click on it to adjust the value right up to 127.
8/ on the Transport panel below the sequence, next to the record button is a button called ALT. Right mouse click on this and choose Edit Remote Override Mapping.
9/ here, choose Loop Midi Port for the Control surface, choose CC03 for the Control, leave Learn from… checked, press OK.
NOTE: a new note lane will be generated on any Midi track that is selected. If an audio track is selected, a new audio track is created. A new track is created whether you are in playback or record mode, so to temporarily disable this feature, press M to mute the MIDI Out 1 track and no new tracks will be created..

    FYI: For Mac users.
Setting up Midi ports (loopback) of a Mac.
The IAC bus allows you to create any number of virtual MIDI buses. This driver is built-in to OS X (since OS X 10.4) and can be activated in the Audio/MIDI Setup Utility.
To begin, launch Audio/MIDI Setup and select "Show MIDI Window" from the "Window" menu.
Now double-click the IAC Driver icon and check the option "Device is online" in order to activate it.
Add the ports you need from within this window.

Wow, Reason is amazing but this is a really simple fix they should have had in years ago.

I still dunno how to have multiple midi clips when I am recording in loop mode, it just adds all the notes to the same clip when it passes again. 2024 reason 12 lmfao.

Nice workaround, but it's not worth the hassle. Reason needs to step their sequencer game up though!
