They should have let him do it his way. All he wanted to do, was stay true to the spirit of the Novel the movie was based on, a tragic, sci-fi thriller/love story, where one person's good intentions spell out disaster for the rest.
A underrated classic from the Legend himself. Great insightful video,was this off of the DVD or Network TV? I still tip my hat to the film while not a masterpiece it was very thought provoking and while Wes Craven is no longer with us his Legend & Legacy will always continue though his work's & film's, Gone but never forgotten a Pioneer and Master of the macabre R.I.P
+Dawisk Well, he did want it to be a dark love story instead of a straight sci-fi horror along with the writer Joel Rubin, but they were forced to change it, he seemed interested in the idea of doing a tragic love story to get away from his horror roots.

Thank Goodness Wes Craven didn't go on to direct Superman IV which has gone down as one of the worst movies ever made. That would have been the end of his career for sure.

Sounds like his heart wasn't really in it, regardless of the studios demands. Kind of a shame considering the glimpses of potential the movie had.
