“In a 2014 interview with The Skinny, Cocteau Twins bassist/guitarist Simon Raymonde said he wrote the song about his father's death. His dad, the arranger Ivor Raymonde, passed away while the band was recording the Heaven Or Las Vegas album. Simon's bandmates, Elizabeth Fraser and Robin Guthrie, had recently become parents to a baby girl, and much of the album reflects their joyous mood. This song stands in contrast.” Fraser’s voice makes this song sound like a celebration of life. All of the time I improvise by making sure it’s to wait for you is my favorite line ever.
It’s easy to reach a point of frustration during this pandemic, and I reached that point the other night. I retreated to my room, connected my phone to my Bluetooth speaker and did a random spin of Heaven Or Las Vegas and this track came on first and blew me away. I’ve had this album for years but wasn’t in the right headspace until this song came on. I’ve played it 10x since and simply can’t get enough.
almost all of their album closers are among their best tracks, but this is really challenging the top spot. the combo of two vocals is just amazing... only a pity there's no kickass live version to be found.
This is the background music of my dreams. Wandering in the fields of swaying flowers, breeze all over swirling..oh sorry! Here I go I again daydreaming.
Spellbinding, ethereal song, maybe inspired by her new motherhood at the time? The line of "Face an infants breath, my milk and wrapped up baby" echoes a maternal sentiment.
All three members are geniuses, but they don't get the recognition they deserve. It's an unfortunate circumstance, but Elizabeth in particular hated to be called a "genius". Listen to "Musette and Drums" and hear how much she hates it; but, I get your meaning.

@@tosh2804 CT are like a faery procession. They should come into view, sing their otherworld anthems, and pass into evanescence, leaving a wake of wonder behind them.
Nothing, just absolutely nothing, will ever compare to the Cocteau's! I was fortunate to see them live at Brixton Academy, Coliseu dos Recreios, Lisbon and, the ultimate, Royal Albert Hall! I can die happy!
*Again* had to search this out by looking for "cocteau twins" "trousers". I must say I wouldn't have guessed it was such a recent one although Liz's voice has less Donk on this than in my head!
I really don’t like early Cocteau Twins I mean there is a gem here and there, but it’s more like Souxie and the banshees...A great mark of a band is when they leave the sound of sounding like someone else and come into their own... and let me tell you the Cocteau Twins really hit their stride towards the end....
Used to think exactly like you.... Surprisingly as a i get older i find myself listening more and more their early music.... But, HOLV is were they peaked thats undeniable.
This song is probably one of the best album closers of all time
Agreed
This and I am the resurrection
Also Patera's version of Planet Caravan.

Yes, definitely. Full stop.
Does anyone cry while listening to the sheer beauty of this?
Yes, me, always...
yes

why?
This track always gets me. One of the best ever from CTs.
This song reached me at the low point of my depression and helped me getting out there. Incredible. I'm deeply grateful.
I truly believe this song has the power to do so. I find myself in a similar situation these days. I hope everything worked out for you brother.

Yes
I would do legitimately anything to have the chance to see Cocteau twins perform this song live. Or them perform live at all, gosh.
My all-time favorite Cocteau Twins song.
If this was the last song I ever heard, that would be just fine by me.
so right
Me too.
Same here. Outstanding, timeless ...
the airiness of the chorus just pulls you with it out of the atmosphere... so gorgeous!!!!!! one of my absolute favorites from them
Incredibly dramatic song with a haunting ambience.
Very powerful music.
I love it when I "discover" a new gem. Just played this 6 times. LG.
enjoy … cocteaus' are awesome
I read that as 'germ' first of all.
Every Cocteau Twins song is a new gem, even after you first heard them decades ago.
