- This is video part of my HOW TO series of videos that show you cool ideas and how to repair or fix things or how to make things work better.
The part you are looking for is the Thetford 31705 Aqua-Magic V Toilet Water Module Assembly. The Aqua Magic IV is Thetford 13168 Aqua Magic IV Water Valve. You may not need to actually remove the toilet to replace this part. this video doesn't show it, but after removing the tube when you go to slide out the bit - you actually have to pull it up a bit first - it fits down with a little peg right where it goes to slide in.
It is very easy to remove the toilet in a recreational vehicle for repair or replacement after getting damage from frozen water lines. Replacement of the RV toilet water valve is easy. The RV toilet is easy to install.

I learned that if I do not flush my water lines with RV Antifreeze before winter, the water valve will freeze and break. I show you how to accomplish RV Toilet Repair by removing and replacing the damaged water valve.
I will show you the following steps for RV Toilet Repair:
The first step is to turn off the water pressure - either by turning off the “City Water” valve or turning off the on switch for the on-board water pump.
Flush the toilet to bleed off any remaining water pressure and to empty all water out of the toilet bowl.
The toilet will have to be removed in order to work on it, as repairs are made from the rear or bottom side.
Remove the 2 bolts (one on each side) that secure the toilet to the floor. You’ll then be able to lift the toilet away from the wall and access the water connection at the back side of the toilet. With the water line disconnected, you can then remove the toilet to a nearby work bench or table.
You will want to lay a cloth rag across the hole to help keep odors out, and to prevent anything from falling into the black water tank.
Unlike house toilets, RVs don’t use a wax ring to seal the toilet to the drain pipe. Instead, you will have a rubber ring that will act as the seal.
Depending on what portion of the toilet your repairs are concerned with, refer to the parts diagram that comes with the repair kit for disassembly instructions. Be sure when you order parts for the specific brand and model number of your RV toilet.
If you’re repairing the blade seals, before you reinstall the toilet in the RV, pour a quart of water into the toilet to make sure the new seals will hold water.
If you’re replacing the water valve on the back of the toilet, once you have reinstalled the water line, pressurize the water system to make sure the valve doesn’t leak. If it passes this test, then go ahead and bolt it back down to the floor.
It’s recommended that you install a new rubber seal between the toilet and the floor flange when you reinstall the toilet.

ICE STORM 2021 IN TEXAS GOT ME. THANX FOR THE GREAT VIDEO!!
It makes me feel VERY happy that I helped someone out in this Texas storm. My heart has been breaking for people because I have been in that predicament a couple of times, with frozen and burst pipes, and thousands of dollars in damages. It was one of the worst times in my entire life when that happened, and to hear that my video is helping people during this crisis just absolutely gives me joy. Keep warm and stay safe.
@@FROSTYLIFE lol that's also why I'm here. Just an unprepared Houston native that was confused when I saw that cold white stuff all over the place.. I just got the valve off the commode.. Just gotta find another. Thanks for being you brother

I really enjoy helping people. Thank you for taking the time to comment on my RV toilet repair video.
Thank you, my RV toilet had almost no pressure. Turns out I had a clog (calcium buildup) in the valve. Your video showed me how to remove the valve without removing the entire toilet. After that I was able to clean out the calcium bits in the valve. Toilet flushes like the Niagra now, Thanks!
fantastic. I didn't even think about that type of problem but I am very happy my RV toilet video help to figure that out. Other viewers will benefit from reading your message and they will also be able to fix that problem if they have the same type of thing happen to them
Great video. I had the same problem and was able to fix it myself thanks to this video.

👍 Excellent!
Thank You
Thank you for the great vid. A little tip...wipe down the floor before replacing toilet, when else would you be able to clean it as well!! :)
Thank you so much for video 😍 my toilet says mid 31688 would that part fit it
My toilet part leaked- well, now I can call it a water valve- it was leaking. However, it only leaked when you flushed, and when the pressure was high. It was a mild annoyance, but manageable. Like I would just stick a napkin back there and change it after every trip. Anywhoo, the 2-year warranty is up on my Jayco in November, so I figured I'd get it fixed. I also know RV repair places are big fans of going 'whelp, we don't have that, so it needs to stay here until Christmas.' I did some research on the toilet and was surprised to see that it was a full assembly. Then I ran across your video- and that shows me how easy it was to change. Even better- because of the door, my toilet is at an angle and it's not snug to the wall because there is a built-up box carrying wires and water right behind it. There is no need to remove the toilet itself. I ordered the part, will have it tomorrow. This looks really easy- and I wanted to say thanks for sharing.
Got the part, @FROSTY Life. It took me all of 2 minutes. Total. I owe that to you- thank you.
Very helpful video. With that accent you must be from Wisconsin.
Had the same thing happen to us. Didn't flush when I winterize. Only thing I am going to add is a shut off valve 7$ so why not. Thanks!
Great Video "I just flushed on myself!" BAHAHA Awesome. By the way, BEECH LANE makes an upgrade sturdier version of this valve, that is supposed to stand up better to freezing.
Thank you so muchthis video is really gonna me
Great video. If my toilet valve isn't shutting off tightly, is that a sign that this same valve needs to be replaced or does the spring connected to the foot pedal need to be replaced. I have noticed lately that I have to pull up on the foot pedal to get the valve to shut off completely so am wondering which do I replace. Thanks
Great video I have the exact same problem I will fixing with your help however how can I avoid this problem in the future? What is a proper winterizing to prevent this from happening again? Thanks in advance
My best advice is to confirm this with your local RV service center, but on my RV I drain the water from all the lines, and either blow air through the system, or better yet, run RV antifreeze through the cold water lines. Every camper is different but generally you will want to drain your Hot water heater and then use the bypass line selections to run RV antifreeze through the cold and hot water lines after you do that. There are many videos that give specifics depending upon the type of RV you have. When I purchased my RV new, I had the service center do the first year winterization and teach me how as they did it.
Awesome video--much more detailed than the others. I was bummed at first but turned out to be easy, after removing the toilet. So tiny and light lol. (N got extra covid masks so didn't have to smell the SMELL.) Also off topic: my tt is an engineering marvel--there should be a stop valve in the line to the toilet for leaks so I can do dishes, brush teeth, etc., while waiting for part ordered online.
I'm glad to see this procedure is concussion-free!
until I slipped on the water at the end in the bloopers hahaha
Good video "NO PUNISHMENT"
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU - perfection! You really made my day - now I know how to make this repair. Not looking forward to it, but knowing what I have to do in detail makes it almost all better :-) Now just have to ensure I order the right part. I see lots called water valve but not module and not seeing that black bulb on the bottom on the valve assembly. I expect Thetford will steer me in the right direction, however.
FYI - Thetford customer service the first time around was grumpy and "short" with me - and steered me to the wrong part. So I lost some money in shipping, but if anyone is interested, the part for the Aqua Magic V - which is in this video is: Thetford 31705 Aqua-Magic V Toilet Water Module Assembly. The Aqua Magic IV is Thetford 13168 Aqua Magic IV Water Valve and is smaller, doesn't have the optional shower bit and is definitely a different piece. Also, I'm only halfway through the repair but I was able to remove the assembly easily enough without removing the toilet. Finally, this video doesn't show it, but after removing the tube when you go to slide out the bit - you actually have to pull it up a bit first - it fits down with a little peg right where it goes to slide in. Hope this helps!
thank you so much. Those are very very good tips. I will add that information to my description. Now people will have an easier time replacing their water valve for their RV toilet.
Maybe you can explain it better than I did. That little peg is probably obvious if you aren't hanging backwards over the toilet lid!
And yet another thanks - I finally pulled up the toilet to replace the flooring and while I'm at it going to replace the flange seal since it came with the kit - took the old one out without looking at what side was up and down and once again, your video to the rescue :-)
Fantastic. I am very happy that this video helped you replace the parts of the camper toilet. Happy camping. There is nothing better.
If I were to try gluing it, what glue do you think might work? Tried GOOP. Nope. Thinking JB Weld or Gorilla?
Does anyone know when your facing the toilet to remove the water hose in the back is turn to the left to remove it or opposite? Mine is so difficulty to take off of the toilet 😢
Awesome video. Just FYI, but you usually don't need to remove the toilet. That saves you from changing the floor seal.
You are right and that is a good point. I had removed it only to show where the part is, but someone who is really flexible and experienced could potentially replace the valve without removing the toilet from the floor mount.
Some RVs such as mine have virtually no room on either side or behind the toilet, so that I will certainly need to remove the toilet to get to the valve.
Line to top valve is really hard to get to and it won't come off valve with out remove the toilet anything I can do to get the hose off the top valve 😅
What size are the bolts
How to get the hose off the top valve with out remove the toilet it's tight and it is no room to get a tool to remove it from the top valve anything I can do to get it off!???
Good job... nice video... no shit
Sorry my reply is so late. Fantastic, I am very happy to hear my video helped you with RV toilet repair.
When I was 5, I flushed a toilet at a camp site and it began overflowing. I ran screaming to our campsite, fearing that I started a flood that would wipe out the campsite!
hahaha, I had a similar experience at home at age 4. I learned that shutting the lid and standing on it did not stop the flood. hahahaha
That's NOT the Thetford Aqua Magic IV ""13168 Water Valve"", that is a newer Thetford!!!
Your UA-cam advert states ""Magic IV is Thetford 13168 Aqua Magic IV Water Valve."""
Thetford needs to
Come up with a better system. Just had the same thing happen to mine. Great camping experience. NOT. thanks THETFORD.
Go to Walmart Mart, not Camping world. The CEO of Camping World does not want business from Conservatives.
Very helpful. Thank you very much!
