That silver surfer pull was pretty nuts. I didn’t get a vibe they planted it, also I picked from a couple they presented. I’m not 100% that they didn’t know (I can’t be sure of it) but it felt like it was all on the up and up. Additionally, I offered them repeatedly to take it back cause I felt bad for scoring something so big. We settled on me giving it away on Whatnot, which I did on Sunday 😎
C2E2 used to be the best Comic-Con period. Been going to shows since I was 10 years old. That's 35 years. Beer gardens are great and Artist Alley is always some of the best in the country. But overall, the show has gone down the crapper. It hurts when publishers don't show up. The convention center charge’s so much and when it's pricey it's to hard to get all the nice things we all love. I want comics back in the Comic-Con!

Your thought on being hesitant to buy books at the con is sound. Ultimately I was fine going slightly above market to support the guys who have been showing up to Chicago for 20 years and were always kind to me when I didn’t have two nickels to rub together. Just putting some good vibes back into the community. Bummer I missed you, but glad you had fun and keep up the great work!
I went to C2E2 last year and this year. I have 3 observations: 1) this con had more people, vendors and artists this year than last year. More cosplay too. Felt more alive. 2) Slab wall books are still overpriced. I did get a vendor to drop $800 on a PCH book I was interested in but even that discounted price was too high. No good deals at all for books I wanted. 3) There were a lot more raw books on the walls this year. It is clear that dealers are pushing more raws than slabs based on the allocation of wall space between the two. Overall, I thought this year’s con was much better value even though I did not buy anything.
I think conventions need to refocus on the "comic" in Comic-Con. Because, right now, I'd rather go to a comic book "show" than a pop culture "convention."

I rarely pick up big books at a con because many are overpriced. I go to cons to meet others from UA-cam/IG and meet creators. C2E2 is definitely one of the cons I have on my bucket list

C2E2 has always been one of favorite shows that we do and this year was no different. The Beer Garden is a great feature, allowed us to have a beer with some friends and even some creators. Overall we loved C2E2 and especially artist alley.
I went to c2e2 again this year and the comics were very overpriced. I tried offering cash for what they would go for on eBay but with no luck. The dealers wouldn’t budge. One example that sticks out is a dealer had Truth: red white and black 1 for 400 raw. That’s just crazy.

Very interesting that you rate C2E2 so high (I was thinking about trying WonderCon). I've gone to all of them and it gets worse every year. C2E2 has half as many Comic vendors as it used to have (I've been told by several people that the company that runs it are total Aholes) . I only go on Friday and only look at Comics. I probably should buy a three day pass as I"m exhausted after Friday from running booth to booth and comparing prices. I love hearing your perspective, keep up the good work. BTW I'll never stop buying at Conventions. I don't have to fight with anyone online about returning something at a Convention.
Its true - some of those comic con prices were nuts. Comic connect had an AF 15 cgc 1.0 for like 24 k 😝 Feels like more of a slab museum than a vendor lol🤣
Bummed I didn’t run into ya, but I did bump into ComoComics which was neat. I walked away from the show with way more cash in my pocket than expected. I didn’t feel prices were very competitive, though there were some nice books. In some cases prices were double what I was hoping to pay…. 🤷🏻♂️ maybe next time
Great vid. You noticed that 1) the 9.9 Giant-Size X-Men may have shifted in the case causing some misalignment, and 2) the new CGC warning for Reholders states that with their own CGC holders(!), all kinds of “Damage might still occur, resulting in a lower grade.” CGC continues to use-for both $30 or $300,000 books--the same inherently unsafe holders (loose inner wells, books bouncing about) that during something as basic as shipping may cause “misalignment” or worse. The height of irony (or cynicism?) where CGC’s own holder is the sole cause of a lower Reholder grade? More irony: if they fix this problem, their Reholder sales would go through the roof. Looking forward to your reholdering video.

I've gotten the CGC reholder prompt before when reholdering a book, but I'm not sure if the amount of warning text was the same. I didn't buy anything either when I attended C2E2, but I was stoked about getting a free comic book after attending the Bad Idea panel.
The dealers are not “sellers”, they are curators. Not interested in the least in selling - just putting books on wall for people to see from afar. Like a museum.
Probably not going to make it to either this year but yea Baltimore and HeroesCon are my favorites. (can't really make it to the west coast often) I've met most of the (living) creators I'd like to meet except maybe Roger Stern and a few others. I wish Stern would do a con near me, saw he was just at one in NY. Richmond has a small con (VaComicCon) and then GalaxyCon. (GalaxyCon was a hot mess last two years very badly organized) AwesomeCon in DC used to be awesome indeed, very comic focused but now it's heavy on the D list celebrities not nearly as much comic stuff/artists.
MegaCon in Orlando is the worst. Unless you like barely being able to move as you go through the convention floor aisles. They need to remove an aisle, or two, so the aisles are wide enough, or add another large room.
Weird, that Ultimate Fallout 10.0 does show up for me when I click the GPA link and also when I just manually enter the cert # on the CGC verification site. The information shows that it's a "Qualified" grade, though.
LA Comic Con sells beer and let's you walk around sippin n tippin....Plus they have a big beer garden out back behind artist alley.....Com' on Swaggs....Gotta give us Cali folks props.....😎👍

Repacks are so much worse than you made it seem. With sports cards the repackers are actually buying up all the very low tier cards and not grail cards at all. They buy rare cards of unpopular or invaluable players for dirt cheap and then value them higher for the repack stats because of the “rarity”. Spend $50 to get a card that they paid $5 for but valued at $40. Ask yourself this, in the example in this video of a comic mystery box for $150, of the guy in the video got a $500 book, how many other boxes will need to contain a large loss for the customer in order for the seller to still profit. If people want to gamble that’s your right, but understand how bad the odds are at least
Making sure I understand this... A reprint of UF4 sold for $4k because the company that graded it put the wrong color label on it? Not because it was actually any more rare than any other equally graded UF4 reprint? WTAF, people?

Hit Parade has been doing those boxes for a long time. Usually they were themed, X-Men, Spider-Man, etc.

Micky - I’d be interested to hear if people were buying more wall books or bin books. I know wall books can be pricey.
I think it was mostly bin with some wall books (raw) mixed in.

Comic cons are not any more expensive then ebay. Most dealers go by ebay prices. Or show them an ebay price and they will match it.
