Speaking of Mark J. Books, I used to get a ton of those (was in the military for 27 years), when I was stationed overseas, I only bought my comics at the military PX (post exchange). I *hated those darn things!* LOL I was so glad when I came back stateside, and I stopped finding them inside my books. I thought that every comic all over the world (for that comic) had one of those bothersome advertisements in them. I didn't hear until recently, that people actually look for them now. Wow, times sure do change! Enjoyed your video as always, stay savage my friend! 😁
When I lived in New Orleans, MJ variants were almost unavoidable. I lived one block from Jackson barracks, and about a mile from a coastguard installation on the Mississippi river. Besides news stands and pharmacies, almost every used book store, and corner grocery, bought and sold comics.
Thank you so much man! Overall the show went well i think, just that first day was a learning curve. But it was a great learning experience and always fun to be surrounded by awesome stuff! Appreciate the kind words
Love your set up. Great books. I was at a small con today and almost picked up a raw copy of Batman #227 classic Neil Adams cover. It was a great price and as my card was to getting ready to get charged I ask to look at the book again and noticed a large amount of color touch that didn’t notice earlier. The owner claims he didn’t noticed it but I dodged a bullet there.
I was fortunate enough to attend. I picked up some books from those guys. What are your thoughts on page quality. Most of the books looked high grade but pages were tan.
looks like ya had fun and made a little getus plus you learned some things too......... i like that show n hoped to come but medical procedure got changed and it made it undoable, maybe halloween,.... next thing ya know, youll have jr. helping at the booth.....ha.
You're there to sell....sure, run around BEFORE the show opens (If you ARE setup AND ready to go).....but remember WHY you are there....TO SELL. Hunt around in the mornings before the show starts...but focus on making money and selling.
So my perspective is this… im there to make money and…have fun. If my booth is a ghost town because some other booth is selling books at %20 of market value… im calling the audible. Literally more money to be made buying off another seller who doesnt care. You cant sell to AIR.
so this dealer is obviously selling color touched books and fine with selling them to not only unsuspecting customers but to other dealers as well . That’s fukked up man
Well in short, yes, but I dont think they realize the view of color touch and restoration by the comic community IF they are aware of it. Their prices are so low most people may not even care… however transparency to their buyers would be nice, absolutely. These guys are literally out of the loop to what they have.
I really really don’t like your set up for showing comics. The way you hold the books makes me wince and it looks like you don’t have good control so you constantly bring the comics too far forward, don’t hold it long enough once you have the right distance and focus, and of course confusing left and right. Maybe have like a rack hidden just below camera view that holds the book at the perfect length and angle so you don’t get reflection.
