GoPro has a underrated feature that no other action camera has that nobody talks about. Being able to get useable photos out of video is an amazing feature
Thank you! I have tons of pro equipment and just need a small action camera to document during the production. DJI makes much more sense to me, especially dynamic range better at least for one point.
Yeah that's what I thought too, the gopro looks better to me in the comparison shot... But an ND filter wouldn't do that, it's more like he didn't grade the footage of the dji... or just liked it more that way.
I am new to this with action cameras, so choosing between these is really hard. I mainly shoot action footage at night, going for rides in cars, on bikes or just shooting cinematic night footage of my own car at different locations at night. I know now that the DJI is the superior option in terms of price/performance () but is a bit confused as there seems to be many mentioning low bit rate. What is that, and does it affect footage quality that much?
Both have good image quality and features. However, GoPro still has abysmal battery performance. Here, DJI wins big time. You never realize how important this detail is until you start missing important action due to running out of power. Here, it is a no brainer. DJI is a clear winner
It's shocking how many people care about low light for an action camera.. Maybe you all live in a dark part of the world... I mostly use it for action shots during the day when I am doing action. The GoPro almost always seems to have better quality during brighter days.. I have an actual camera for things for night... I don't use action cameras for low light needs... Why would you? None of them are good.
@@jinxterpinxter besides, with both cameras.... i always compare, which photo/video looks more natural to the naked eye. i dont go by side by side comparisons. id like to see which one looks more natural as if it was looking at it with my eyes.
Why doesnt any reviewer ever talk about the only thing im looking ford to wen im buying the gopro 13 this black friday, and thats the 1:1 feature onnthe max lense?😮😮😮

@@MrPickpoke there’s no doubt with the raw files that A5P are significantly better quality especially with dynamic range. In this footage GoPro is brighter but not better
@@mattgonzalez I was thrown by the brightness to begin with, also. The GoPro footage looked "better" at first glance because the OA5 footage seemed darker (in the shadows). But look more closely and this applied mostly to your backlit face/body. Everything else in the background had much more definition. Ultimately though, it comes back to the same things. They're all great but have strengths/weaknesses, so get the one that best suits your needs.
My friend, you are very lost with the camera setup. You're the first person whose video I’ve seen where the GoPro 13 looks better than the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro.

You go from 130 to 60 in the action 5. Boo. I see this all over. Very few reviewers. mention this elephant in the room. WHY? How could you not. It is disingenuous to talk so much and so detailed about pic quality and not mention that.. I love DJI and have a dozen of their products. After this action 5 release and experiencing all the reviews, I now know reviewers can not be trusted so much for what ever reason, they are so so positive and conveniently leave out important things. You cannot find a camera in the world that does not have the bit rate in there specs. Just go to BH. Oh by the way. They leave this specs out as well. ONLY for DJI. Billon dollar co. have a lot of sway. LOL
@@RocaTT1456 I have a feeling it's caused by the protective glass on the front of the DJI camera, which is too far away from the lens itself, causing the sun to shine on it as if it were a glass.
The only reason you might choose GoPro is coz uou would have been using GoPro for quite sometime but there is no denying that DJI Action 5 beats GoPro hands down!
I love my GoPro 12 and I love my Action 5. Out of the box, the Action 5 Pro is not great. With some tweaks to the settings it’s insanely good. I can ALMOST get it to match my pocket 3. It’s an amazing little camera, especially in lower light, and I pray that firmware will make it the camera even more impressive.
@@AlrightAlrightOkOk 4K 30, EIS at Rocksteady (not +), Shutter 1/100-1/8000 (this is very important, you can also use quadruple your frame rate to 30FPS at 1/120, 60 at 1/240, etc. (FORGET the 180 degree rule with this camera, and with all action cameras), Texture at -2, Noise Reduction at -1 or -2. In super night mode, you can’t adjust ISO but you can adjust these settings and should if you want usable footage. In normal, all these settings apply but make sure ISO is 100-25600 at night, 100-800 in sunlight and 100-12800 at dusk. Shutter at four times frame rate (1/120) 1/100-1/8000. I would make FOV standard but you could use wide. Color is dealers choice, normal 10 bit or DLOG 10 bit (which you’ll have to grade in post or in the app). Out of the box this camera is not even close to as good as it is with these settings dialed in. It’s awful. But so is the GoPro, I change my settings there too, as I do on my pocket 3 and Sony ZV1. These are highly finicky and specialized cameras. You have to manually tweak everything depending on the settings. Hope that helps! You can get useable photos out of any action cam video in Premiere Pro, as long as the video is in 4K.

Did you use a ND on the Action 5?? It looks terrible, lacking contrast all over the place. Not what I have seen in other reviews.

I'd go for the DJI in this case. Mostly for the lower light performance.

Dynamic range is one point but take a look at ugly sun flares from Action 5 - trumpet shaped
Three times more people buy GoPro over DJI on Amazon... the monthly sales numbers are listed on Amazon... GoPro is the better camera...

I was thrown by the brightness to begin with, also.
The GoPro footage looked "better" at first glance because the OA5 footage seemed darker (in the shadows). But look more closely and this applied mostly to your backlit face/body. Everything else in the background had much more definition.
Ultimately though, it comes back to the same things. They're all great but have strengths/weaknesses, so get the one that best suits your needs.
Only if you are a die-hard GoPro fan is it worth getting the GoPro 13, because the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro is much better.
