    Thanks so much to the both of you! This is a great solution, but I can’t mount my camera from the side. I DOn’t have lenses like that and I’m looking for a video solution just to new smooth but a normal camera and lens (ie 85mm). Thanks again.

    There are also smaller gimbals that fit both monopods and tripods, but this monogimbal is great

    The GimbalHead is a great help to load my Nikon 500mm F4 Lens with my D500, it makes it easy to transport large lenses and for photographs of birds in flight it is spectacular and that is why I bought it .... Wimberley Quality.

      Awesome! Thanks for letting us know. We liked it a lot so it's good to know others who have used it more than we have like it too.

    would it still work, mounting on the Central column of the tripod, that way can be used both for Tripod and Monopod?

    • @35mmimages
      @35mmimages 3 роки тому +1

      No, when mounted on a tripod you would not have the ability to move from side to side. You would be limited to up and down motion.

      @@35mmimages thanks Joe, got it. then a pan head would be needed to make it work like Gimbal.. might as well buy the gimbal

    A ball head can basically do the exact same thing. I’ve been using my ball head with saddle tilted 90 degrees. The separate friction knob sets tension.
    Works quite well.

      Respectfully disagree (but you do what is best for you). I've tried both and the MonoGimbal is hands down better than a ball head on a monopod. It swings in only one axis of rotation vs. the ball head, tilted 90 degrees as you state, that can and will slip out of the 90 position at times due to the head having to be loose enough to allow the swivel action. I also have the SideKick which does make a ball head work, because the ball is fully locked and the SideKick acts as the swivel point. That makes the setup much larger, heavier and more complicated over just using the MonoGimbal.

      @@csimet - Ah, no, you don't get it. You put a pan on the ball head and tighten the ball right down. But "slip out of 90" is not an issue in any case, it doesn't matter, the 90 is irrelevant.

    • @johnsmith1474
      @johnsmith1474 Рік тому

      Great insight, you are absolutely correct. And if you mount a pan, you get the vertical movement effortlessly if by chance the ball used is not of the type with a tension knob.

    I'd have been more comfortable with this if they had chosen (or given the option of) a circular base plate (of around 5cm diameter), one that the security grub screw on my monopod could grip onto and provide some assurance against rotation. I understand the reason and purpose for the Arca-Swiss base, but it rules me out of a purchase I'm afraid.

    • @35mmimages
      @35mmimages 4 роки тому +2

      You make a good point. The base measures about 35mm by 35mm so it is unlikely it is wide enough for the security screw to contact.

      I have the monogymbel attached to the top of my mefoto monopod, replacing the ball head attachment completely. It’s great with my Nikon D7500 with the Nikon 200-500 attached. I don’t see why you’re worried. I still use the neck strap as security in case the Arca unscrews...it never has

      Get a clamp like the one in the link below and screw it on the top of your monopod. The grub screw can contact the bottom of the clamp to prevent rotation.

    This gimbal head still flops forward and back when she let go of it. I don't see how that is any different to a ball head? Also, the two hosts should learn to engage with the audience more.

      He didn't spend time to balance it first. Infact, he said something to that fact. Once it's balanced it's great
