I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost my password. I love any tricks you can give me.
@Reece Andrew thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hi from Oz, I've only just discovered this video but what a great tip. I do wish I had seen this video 3 days ago as I could have saved my money because I have just made a purchase of a gymbal. Thanks for sharing your great idea.
I am/WAS about to go and buy a gimbal but after watching this, it changes everything - BEST advice and pro tip I have seen in ages! I have both large and small Gitzo ball heads and now can happily use both! I don't know why I didn't discover this myself when it's been staring me in the face all along!
I think the demonstration was the best part about this video. I have been using some of your techniques but now I can improve on them. Thanks for sharing.
Although I'm not into wildlife photography, it was very interesting seeing you explaing this super helpful tip. It's wonderful how much love for what you're doing you are able to convey with these videos, Morten. Keep up the good work! I'm totally addicted to your YT channel
I love your down to earth, no-nonsense approach. Thank you for being such an interesting and helpful person. I have learned so much already from you. Thank you again.
As someone who has disparate styles of shooting, utilizing a ball head as an easy gimbal is awesome! It'll save me some money as I can focus on an excellent tripod to with an excellent ball head!!
Morten, I'm so happy to have found your channel. Its the most inspiring and interesting photography channel. The long form is excellent and a breath of fresh air in the fast paced world we live in.
Just before watching this video I was on B&H website looking at a gimbal. After watching you, I think I'm going to invest in a good ball head. Thank You for the video.
Thanks for the excellent tip Morten! I have the same RRS ballhead and have never thought of using it in the is way. It will make it much easier than shooting my gimbal out of my truck with the 400mm 2.8! Keep up the good work!
That is just awesome to hear - I am so glad you take your time to actually tell me:) When I made the episode this morning, I had now idea if everyone knew this already:) Thanks again.
Great tip about the ball head. I use both a gimbal and a ball depending on what I am shooting' landscape or wildlife. Shooting the ball head for landscape is the time when the unexpected wildlife shows up and your tip could save the day with that perfect image! Thank you!
Thank you. I have an arca Swiss ballhead and had a gimbal head in my shopping cart, but you convinced me I can get by with what I have. Saved me $200, and this trick really worked for me after finding the balance point on my 300mm 2.8 lens with TC. Thanks again!
Pure genius idea! I have just got out of bed to try this method and it works an absolute treat and I will certainly take this out into the field. Plus you’ve earned a new follower.
Ahh thank you so much for the amazing tip. I was going to buy a gimbal but I am not going to now and I am just going to use my ball head so thank you so much. I can't wait to see how it works tomorrow when I test it. I hope you have an amazing Easter
I recently got my first monopod. (I have a tripod that I don't use, because I don't tend to stay in one place.) I was debating whether I should just wait on getting the monopod until I could also afford to get the Wimberly Sidekick that you mentioned. After watching this video, I set up the ball head on my monopod as you showed and was very, very happy with how it worked! I'll probably still get the Sidekick, but at least now I can enjoy my monopod more thank to your excellent idea! I think this is the first video of yours I've watched, and it earned an instant subscription!
Such a great tip! I have still to check this as I haven't the sturdy video tripod and head ball as you have. But it gave me some ideas in the process. Thanks.
I just got back from Africa and used a Tamron 150-600 g for the first time. In the Safari jeeps I realized that I needed some support. Lucky for me I brought a mono pod. As you described , it was a life saver. My photography was on the ball head-was uncontrollable until by accident I discovered putting my ball head on its side in the ball heads groove. It was to me a life saver. A poor mans gimble head.
Thanks so much for this trick! Works great for the little time that I spend with wildlife photography - therefore saving me a bunch of money! Keep up the great videos - I appreciate your work and am happy I found your channel :)
Thank you so much Morten. You just saved me a lot of money with this trick of using a ball head as a Gimbal. Cheers to you. If you ever come to Nainital (India) , I would love to have you at my homestay and it would be an honour to take you around for some bird photography . I have made two bird studios here and we get a good variety of birds here.
I saw another photography guy take his ball head and lean the lens not into the groove where the lens goes completely down but he put it on the edge and that gave him the ability to do a lot of movement like the gimbal. In other words don't go into where the groove is but just lean it to the side and then you can go left and right and up and down and it works perfectly can't wait to try it tomorrow I think it was a brilliant idea.
No me chima! I have a Dolica "Pro" 60 tripod since 2012 (LOL) I recently discovered your channel. You're a genuine person, a true humble heart. I´ll wish that I could make my living just from taking photos, like you do. If you want to see birds for wildlife photography, come to Costa Rica. Greetings.
Excellent video I now can use my existing ball-head in a new way. I love how you present your content in a really relaxed way, made me feel like you were an old friend just showing me how you do it properly.
Thanks for the tip I have the same gear as you do.Both for at least 10 years. Never occurred to me how to use the RRS Ball head as a gimbal. Just goes to show that one can always learn something new Thank you so much
I really love watching you videos. You put so much joy and passion into your photography. I hope I will one day get to enjoy photography like you do. Keep doing what you do.
Great idea using the ball head in the side configuration as a gimbal. Wish I knew this a few weeks ago when shooting sandhill cranes in New Mexico. I'm going to go pull out the tripod and give it a try. I don't own a gimbal head, thanks for a useful tip!
wow what a great tip that was i been looking at gimbals all day on amazon but just out of my price range for a good one but i have a good ball head which i will now incorporate this technique of yours, thank you Morten.
I used a full Wimberley gimbal with my 600mm lens. But, when I sold the 600mm I also sold the gimbal. I am, and have been for many years, a big fan of RRS ball heads. I use them with all my cameras and lenses up to and including my 200-600mm lens. Good tips.
A good tip to utilizing a ball head in alternative methods. I discovered this back in the day for shooting Lunar captures with 500-1000mm lenses. Using a ball head becomes inherently unstable. I couldn't afford a gimbal back then as they were all quite expensive. Having a large and simply ball head in my inventory, I made its operation smoother by adding some extreme pressure bearing grease to the contact areas and movement improved a lot. Note, a warning to anyone planning to use this tip..... if you are using a quick release plate with a center attachment screw, it will loosen from the torquing applied when swinging the lens up and down! Not an issue for tripod collars with Arca-Swiss dovetails, but can be disastrous with standard QR plates. Be sure to use ones with securing set screws, or plates with more than one attachment point.
Thank you so much for sharing your very valuable feedback with us - I really appreciate and I am sure, I am not the only one. It is just so nice to hear how you guys are working and what technics you are using to get the most out of the gear. Thanks again.
Thank you very much Morten! Great tip. I was considering getting a gimbal, but I need a new ball head too. Keep the tips coming. I'm loving your Friday tips!
Another great tip Morten its amazing how it still worked with the big Lens , I`m going to give it a go with my tamron 150-600. looking forward to the next video already
A great little tip! I don't normally use a tripod with my 150-600 but I will definitely consider a ball head now as it is way more versatile than I realised!
Why doesn't this man have 1,000,000 subscribers? Photographing red deer, musk oxen, mountain hares and mostly by himself too! Absolutely brilliant.
Lovely comment Vincent, so nice that you like my videos!
I like how polite you are, and how sincere. You're a genuine person.
Danish manners, I suppose
I agree with you :)
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?
I somehow lost my password. I love any tricks you can give me.
@Vincenzo Davian instablaster ;)

Thanks Morton. I use the Sidekick with my bullhead, and it works well without adding a lot of weight to my bag. You're awesome!!!
As someone who has disparate styles of shooting, utilizing a ball head as an easy gimbal is awesome! It'll save me some money as I can focus on an excellent tripod to with an excellent ball head!!

Thank you very much for this video, I have a side notch in my tripod and hadn't realised I could use it in this way.
Brilliant! Looking forward to testing this out tomorrow on some sandhill cranes that are migrating through southern Colorado.
How did you get on with photographing the cranes?
Great tips Morten this will save me packing the gimbal everywhere.

Great tip! Tried it out with my ball head. Worked great! This translates into a major weight reduction in my camera bag. Thank you!
Great information here / the ball head especially helpful as that is what I use. Thanks buddy!!
This is a brilliant idea I am going to use this every time I shoot now 👍👍 thank you 👍👍
hver så snill å fortsett med vloggen! elsker vloggen, flott inspirasjon
Was thinking of buying as Gimbal but will now try this method on my ball head with a Nikon 200-500 lens, thanks for the demo Morten
Interesting twist on a ball head. I find that 600mm is good on a gimbal but anything shorter I like a ball head.
Thank you so much for this idea. I have been in each situation you mention.
Thank you, Morten, for very interesting and helpful tips! This is my favourite channel on UA-cam :-)
Hi, that's a huge compliment, thank you so much! Let me know if you have any tips or suggestions at any point. Have a lovely weekend.
Thank you. Great idea for telephoto lens.
thank you so much morten for this tip, next week iam going on my first wildlife photography trip with some friends, and i can really use this trick :)
That sounds awesome - I wish you a fantastic trip👍
Morten Hilmer thanks a lot Morten :)
A great little tip! I don't normally use a tripod with my 150-600 but I will definitely consider a ball head now as it is way more versatile than I realised!
Thaks for the useful info! I never tried to shoot sidely with my ball head using it like a gimbal. I´ll try it next time when I go out shooting.
Very good tip.I already put it on my D4
So glad to hear:)
A very smart idea. Thank you for sharing.
I know this is an old thread, but have to say thanks Morten. Ya saved me $$. I hate carrying extra weight.
Fedt, Morten. Tusind tak for alle dine meget brugbare tips.
Selv tak Morten og hvor er det pænt af dig at skrive. Virkelig motiverende:)
Awesome tip! I usually use a mono pod with ball head. This will make things much better 👍
What is the name of the lens collar that is mounted on the quick release plate?
