Considering that most people on youtube seem to think that doing planche pushups just means bobbing up and down with bent arms, holding a static planche is quite a bit harder. But yea, if you do them correctly and actually lock your arms and pause at the top, planche pushups are much more difficult. Handstand dips aren't really a good analogy because the most difficult part of a handstand pushup is at the bottom of the range of motion, while in planche pushups the hardest part is at the top
the whole point of a correctly preformed planche push-up is that the hips is in line with the shoulders during the repetition, and that they don't drop. It is not Jovtchev who does them wrong, it's pretty much everybody else you see one youtube. I also hope you realize that you are watching a two time gold medalist on the still rings during the world gymnastic championship.
@StefanHRasmussen there's no rules perse; you can do them however you like-i'd still consider what you described a planche-pushup, but it takes a bit more core strength to keep your legs elevated rather than letting them remain @ a certain height, and it looks a bit more impressive imo
without getting too much into it - most importantly non arched back and also hips are turned under, legs are tight, chest rounded inward. and im certain jotchev can go deeper if need be
he starts with a straddle planche with straight arms (for a short time though). He never did a true planche (straight arms with legs together) because he drops into planche pushups before his legs came together. Anyone who's done these know that once you bend your arms in planche you cannot fully straighten them again. Holding a planche is harder than doing planche pushups so he might not be able to hold one or else he should wait till his legs come together before bending arms.
man, and most of them think that gymnastic is for weak people or girls..... just check this dude out, he can beat most of us in strength and flexibility contest.
I guarantee two things: 1. You cannot do the planche. You most likely are doing it with such horrible form that it can't be considered one. 2. If you could do a planche, no one would make fun of you.
It's a well known fact that gymnasts are balls strong. It's not unusual for these guys to go the to gym and benchpress 2 at least times bodyweight without ever having seen a barbell or let alone a gym.
Yeah...warm up for the harder stuff. LOL...I'll be doing normal pushups as warm ups for those. DAMN! That's brutal. Takes a lot of shoulder, ab and tricep strength.
his legs dont seem to be moving up with him as he planche pushups, but thats mostly just for sho. still, he's benching his bodyweight, which is damn impressive. Wish i could even be this good.
@areyoutim then again, hes not doin full range of motion, so it probably is still around bodyweight. ur right bout the difficulty tho, i wasn't considering that back then, but i just rewatched it and noticed his forms a bit off..
Wow he's strong! Great level of fitness...I do wonder why for a warm up you would do your planche soo quickly...When I warm up I always take my time..am i doing something wrong? It seems like I would tear a muscle his way lol
@XCriminal4LIFE Guys its not to late youd be suprised how quick you can change and become physicaly agile. you just need to break you boundrys and try your hardest dont go half ass and you will achieve your goals the human body is amazing TRUST
@LISdafreestyler I just wanted to make a point that on the rings in the olympics and the world championships, his form is excellent, this is just a rough demo.
your videos are unlisted so cant see it, mayb link me in a message. btw just in case i come off as condescending and what not, doing a full planche pushup in any form is an awesome feat especially when i still havent achieved it.
bboy junior ias nothin comparable with the best gymnasts on rings like chen yibing, besides, he has a prothesis which make the planche easier. but he is still strong, yes....
I'm not trying to bash gymnastics or anything here; I just have a question. Almost all the gymnastics you see involves the arms, right? So how is it that gymnasts' legs become so strong(i.e. 400-lb deadlift) with so little emphasis on legs?
i´m talking about overall skills furthermore i don´t say that Junior is bad...i´m sure he has moves that Jovtchev or other gymnasts can´t do, but gymnasts don´t have to care about music and dancing, just focus on the moves...so they´re more specialized
Well, you'll relaize you can't go that far, because you are so weak without the leverage of bent elbows. How do you do pushups without bending your elbows? Basically, maltese to planche. Then to handstand, if you want to go that far. The point is, if Jordan can press to planche, going as far down as Junior was going will be no problem for him.
A gymnast who does not know proper form. Hehe. Good one! I would really like to know if many of the people who are saying this have ever tried doing any of this stuff. Fingers foreward = easier FIngers back = harder Body shortened = easier Body elongated (hollow) = equals much fuckin' harder.
Bent arms = shorter lever = easier Here is a challenge. Try doing dips. Then try doing dips without bending your elbows. Which is harder?
i wasn't being sarcastic if you read what I wrote. And I'm not arrogant if you knew me. Stop calling people out cause you're the one who's arrogant if you act like you know more than me which is never my claim.
Okay guys let me put it this way, b-boy junior is strong very strong the strongest b-boy out there, but gymnast > than bboy strength wise, this gymnast will most def beat b-boy junior, but anyways planche push ups can be done with a lot of practice as a matter of fact i can do them on ground but i have to curl my hands into a fist because i am unable to stretch my wrists that far down to where it is supposed to be leveld, anywho this is only because i have been training since i was 12 im 15 now.
"I just do some easy stuff".............
Joradan Jovtchev, the legend
Lol, Jordan Jovtchev, the guy in this video, has been one of the best gymnast on rings for the past, oh, I don't know, fifteen years.
Considering that most people on youtube seem to think that doing planche pushups just means bobbing up and down with bent arms, holding a static planche is quite a bit harder. But yea, if you do them correctly and actually lock your arms and pause at the top, planche pushups are much more difficult. Jordan Jovchev always rules :) It's the first time I hear him talk and I imagined him having a lower voice :)
psh bboy junior will always be the best wit planche pushups since his is flawless
his voice is alot different from what I expected lol. Damn he's strong
he warms up with planche pushups... ooooohh kaaaaay
he makes the Hannibal for king black dude look like a ninny
Jordan is amazing!!
I get the impression he could hold a planche all day, what an inspirational person
this guy is a unit
this guy's planche push ups put the other ones on youtube to shame
The closest thing to dips with straight arms would probably be iron cross pull-outs.
this is so crazy
I love gymnastics
who don´t like to work the body ?
excellent stuff!
This Bulgarian guy - Jordan Yovchev > "Hannibal for king"
wow, what a strong man...
By the way, Jordan can press to planche from maltese. Which, incidently, requires straight arms.
You gymnasts are fucking scary, in a good way. you guys always impress me.
It's not fair that this is so easy for him
Stunning power!
NINJA WARRIOR in da HOUSE!
@StefanHRasmussen there's no rules perse; you can do them however you like-i'd still consider what you described a planche-pushup, but it takes a bit more core strength to keep your legs elevated rather than letting them remain @ a certain height, and it looks a bit more impressive imo
He must have done couple push ups
without getting too much into it - most importantly non arched back and also hips are turned under, legs are tight, chest rounded inward. and im certain jotchev can go deeper if need be

i wish my parents made me do gymnastics when i was little
yeah the bulgarian acrobatic machine :D
This Yordan Yovchev from Bulgaria.
Yesterday he qualified for the Olympic games for 6th time, on age 39 with shoulder injury !
Yeah...warm up for the harder stuff. LOL...I'll be doing normal pushups as warm ups for those. DAMN! That's brutal. Takes a lot of shoulder, ab and tricep strength.
awesome video
Anyone got this dvd? Elite warmup and preparation? Is the seller still actively selling these?
I bet he could do the no handed pushup from Zohan
how the fuck do these guys get that amazing balance
his legs dont seem to be moving up with him as he planche pushups, but thats mostly just for sho. still, he's benching his bodyweight, which is damn impressive. Wish i could even be this good.
@XCriminal4LIFE it's never too late to start
it's never too late to continue ;)
Oh yeah I forgot about that. I'll send em to you.
@areyoutim then again, hes not doin full range of motion, so it probably is still around bodyweight. ur right bout the difficulty tho, i wasn't considering that back then, but i just rewatched it and noticed his forms a bit off..

thats the point..hes so much stronger than you thats why thats his warm up..you will when you become stronger too
Its called sarcasm, desiv...
@XCriminal4LIFE Guys its not to late youd be suprised how quick you can change and become physicaly agile. you just need to break you boundrys and try your hardest dont go half ass and you will achieve your goals the human body is amazing
TRUST
Jordan jovtchev is god
im just saying, bboy juniors the only guy i saw doing planches like nothing
goOd jOb
Jordan Jovtchev!!
@PowerDrink100 Planche on rings is much harder. Also, maltese, victorian, inverted cross, etc. Mostly ring stuff.
holy molly!
GOOD SHIT!!
id have to argue there he barely pushes up on his planche push ups and has support beams jr does his on flat ground and all the way up
Is this from the Ring Strength DVD?
@LISdafreestyler I just wanted to make a point that on the rings in the olympics and the world championships, his form is excellent, this is just a rough demo.
yoeriyoeri u are damn right xD
how do you do dips w/o bending ur elbows?
Look at his elbows over flexing :s Lots of strength but man the elbows :D
i want to see a reverse planche..... i.e. planche with legs in front, that would be harder than a reverse maltese!
Well it’s happened, look up kxvenro reverse planche
your videos are unlisted so cant see it, mayb link me in a message. btw just in case i come off as condescending and what not, doing a full planche pushup in any form is an awesome feat especially when i still havent achieved it.
solid
How do you even begin working out to be strong enough to do that?
Wasn't that guy on Ninja Warrior?
OH MY GOD!!! That's HGA I Work there!!!!! Why havent i seen this video????
True.
bboy junior ias nothin comparable with the best gymnasts on rings like chen yibing, besides, he has a prothesis which make the planche easier. but he is still strong, yes....
holy shit
planche pushups for warmup : D?? okay...
I'm not trying to bash gymnastics or anything here; I just have a question. Almost all the gymnastics you see involves the arms, right? So how is it that gymnasts' legs become so strong(i.e. 400-lb deadlift) with so little emphasis on legs?
jordan jovtchev
yeah! do you try to do kameha's aswell? makes it easier for me
Read my other posts, if you are even serious about what you just said.
550lbs. Next question.
hey dude do u use body weight to gain muscle or do u use weights as well i believe that male gymnasts need weights to gain more strength
What do u mean by "hollow"?
Oh okay then. What do you think of my Planche Montage (2) video?
i´m talking about overall skills
furthermore i don´t say that Junior is bad...i´m sure he has moves that Jovtchev or other gymnasts can´t do, but gymnasts don´t have to care about music and dancing, just focus on the moves...so they´re more specialized
Вот это мощь!!! Молоток!
@LISdafreestyler the guy is an olympic champion
Well, you'll relaize you can't go that far, because you are so weak without the leverage of bent elbows. How do you do pushups without bending your elbows? Basically, maltese to planche. Then to handstand, if you want to go that far. The point is, if Jordan can press to planche, going as far down as Junior was going will be no problem for him.
mwah...he has been training all his life, 30 hours a week. So yes its pretty fair, because it's probably damn hard work.
thats so depressing :'(
Whose watching this in 2020 lol
A gymnast who does not know proper form. Hehe. Good one! I would really like to know if many of the people who are saying this have ever tried doing any of this stuff.

I dont think you understand what we're talking about. and nice job on calling me a moron and spelling planche wrong. i bet ur a real smart guy.
i wasn't being sarcastic if you read what I wrote. And I'm not arrogant if you knew me. Stop calling people out cause you're the one who's arrogant if you act like you know more than me which is never my claim.
wtf? It isn't possible due to restraints of the shoulder socket i believe. Also, if it were possible, the victorian would most likely be harder still.
They are nearly perfect. Wtf are you talking about?
sicl
Right, he is really just a poser who fooled the Olympic judges onto the medal stand twice in rings.
@thecrismaster099 yes :) thats him :)
