“You play, hockeys an amazing sport” 😭 I love this, he has so much love for the game it puts a genuine smile on his face
I knew most of the young American stars looked up to Kane and had assumed Matthews did as well, but the degree of respect and admiration he had for him I had not known, prior to this interview. I'd heard Zegras and JHughes and the Tkachuks and Clayton Keller talk this way about Kane.
I think I've heard more of this kind of talk about PK88 than about any other player of the last 25 years. He really is the most influential modern player imo.

He mentioned Sid and Ovi but people always forget how dominant malkin was and still is! 3rd most points per games among active players ranked 15th all time ! Even higher ppg than OVI ranked at 26th😨
he was just talking about the young kids taking over the league, which obviously Malkin was still a young kid his first few years but he didnt come overseas until 21, whereas sid and ovi were dominating the league in their teens
@@masonparker339 he just turned 20 before he came over and i'm pretty sure ovi turned 20 during his first preseason so while i get it for sid who went straight into the show, malkin and ovi were about the same

Matts is so right about how the nhl needs to let players personalities and personal brands flourish in order to expand the game overall. imagine mcdavid's own branded skates, maybe something stylish like jordan's in the nba,or just skate deals in general with stars the way they do shoe deals with nba players.. market players brand deals better, like gretsky had his own sticks and what not but they weren't cool outside of hockey where as nba players brand deals are cool even outside the nba. i think matts being intouch with modern youth culture can help sell hockey branded items like sticks, skates, etc. let players personalize their styles on ice more too, say like allowing players and goalies to have personalized helmets. let the nhl step into the modern age while keeping its class from the old days. theres a huge divide between young and old, as always, but the youths into hockey today are helping push hockeys 'coolness' off the ice, time for the nhl to help push that narrative if theyre looking to expand.. we already see street clothes on the ODRs in the game, why not carry that over into official exhibitions i the nhl where players can wear what they wish while playing something col like irl 3s or eliminations .

Lost me at custom helmets. The only thing they should be able to customize themselves is maybe skates. Everything else is uniform based so they have to look the same.

Fix create a team! A lot of logos and jerseys can’t be highlighted and therefore you can’t change the colour of them and the red line at centre ice is no longer transparent like it was in nhl 21

Fix the custom team jersey numbers not showing up when playing in game
Rosters are a disaster, free agents are full of European players that will never play in the NHL and are currently playing on European teams.Some AHL teams don't even have a full team.. No new customization with goalie Helmets and No new retro jerseys.. Franchise is atrocious, players ratings are horrid along with trying to see the puck and the game play has some major issues.. Basically a Paiste and copy.. they just updated the look of the game.. and did nothing else..

Fix the game EA
Game is bad. Skaters constantly going over or by the pucks. Goalies give up constant rebounds against CPU. Yet CPU never gives up rebounds or misses loose pucks. You could literally spear the CPU and they will still manage getting the loose puck before you can.
Mathews being the cover athlete again is kinda lame why not switch it up
Fire up the servers for NHL 14 and get out of my way.

This ‘branding’ angle, the idea of ‘individuality’ is very American. Hockey looks more and more like WWE. When these guys say hockey is stale, I think they are talking about the Canadian idea of hockey, which is built upon honor, family, team, etc... Maybe it’s about time for a Canadian league that embraces fighting and skill and heart, not soft, wannabe popstars wearing pajamas.
How does a dying franchise creates so many versions of a GAME that, not one can be played with the other. PS5 can't play with PS4 or XBSX or XB1. XBSX can't be played with XB1 or PS5 or PS4 and all the combinations. They created 4 completely individual single games. So, if half your friends aay still gave Xbox One, the can't play with the same club member/friends on XBSX/S. PS5 And PS4 as well. I am all for that, in the making the game so much better and requiring more power but, HOW ABOUT EA TELLS CINSUMERS THIS WAY AHEAD OF TIME. You thought nobody was online before? You have 4 separate consoles that can't talk/play with each other.
