Vienna, brilliant album from 1980. I knew every note of every song after a week spent skiing in Austria with it on my Walkman. Good variety of very atmospheric songs, Passing Strangers a favourite.
This is one of their best singles! I've got it on clear vinyl "45, how it only reached 57 in the charts is criminal.. loved the promo video, Billy looking a little camp, well, it was the early '80s.
I loved collecting their clear vinyls. Those good old days of searching for paper labels, colour vinyls, glossy sleeves. I liked this one even more than Sleepwalk and that was perfect!
Loved it for years, still enjoy a listen. I have the bridge in this song as a Ringtone. Rare, different, interesting. People wonder why I take a long time to answer...🙂
The charts are criminal. Criminally cheesy. The UK isn't as cool as it thinks. They prefer Joe Dolce. Screw 'em, Ultravox did better in other Territories
Running through memories like thieves in the night is the best line in any song I've ever listened to. I've beena fan of Ultravox for many years, and they've never let me down
One of my all time fav Ultravox songs. Had the 12 inch version back in the day. It only reached about 45 in the charts back then, couldn't understand why.
From slik to the rich kids to ultravox midge was and is a class act. One thing bothers me ! Why does geldof get all the credit for live aid midge was the talent there not him
I like the old arty 80's videos...they were cool watching them back in the day. This is one track I don't play too often...it's a good track but not as memorable as the others...
There was an earlier unofficial upload with hundreds of comments, I'm sure it must have had many more views, but it was taken down when this one came up
At one time the largest gasworks in Europe...and interestingly, it was also used as a location for the brilliant pre-titles sequence of For Your Eyes Only (1981) - this is apparently where Roger Moore is flying trapped in a helicopter that races into an empty factory building, before he suddenly regains control of the chopper and goes after Blofeld... 😄
Passing strangers. As long as were strangers and to whom ? Will we turn to CREATOR OF UNIVERSE so that we are mot strangers to HIM ? How to be steadfast in that wish ? (Translate in Sanskrit).
@@tomislavpotocar91 I have played Ultravox by Vienna backwards and have discovered that it contains a profound and profane message"Jesus and your bush that's not a titchy marrow" This is a bawdy thought of Paula Yates and of whom she is with now and what she is doing .
RIP Chris Cross 😢
R.I.P. Chris 😪

One of the greatest breakdowns ever!
Im 2001 and so happy my dad showed me this back then!🙌🏽
Don't make 'em like this anymore.
❤ this tune
I was about to say. Coz now it's gotta be about shakin'ass in da club and no high art like this masterpiece

He also played in Thin Lizzy for a while 1979 -1980.
How did this not chart well!!
UK charts are cheesy. In our hearts, forget the charts/farts
I can't believe my friens in America don't even know this song
I know it very well.
I can believe it as it was seen as too European at the time. Duran got a mixed reaction on their first club tour
Danced to this when it was new😊
Beh ....capolavoro sempre e x sempre.....
Capolavoro assoluto
Io li adoro.

Midge is so hansome and such a talent..I would do him, And I'm not even gay nor is he
😂
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Take me to that decade 1980s😁
Only 62k views? Insulting.

Lee Van Cleef as a young New Vawe rock star😂
Many people would say Clark Gable is the model behind Midge's gentleman look here :)
brilliant

One of the best videos from that era. Magnificent!
Definitely ! Clips from today are clearly not the same thing
Agree, Also the best band
Yes, love the "Third Man"-inspired look of this very early video (it even predates MTV)
This should've been a double A side.
It was shot in Beckton Gas Works.
I was wondering where. Fun fact!

time does go by too soon
I can’t understand why that never did a proper 12inch verison , thelive version is longer 😎👽😔
I love the way Midge plays it out on his guitar

Arguably one of their best songs. Definitely a favorite of mine from the great Ultravox!! 💫❤️✨
Midge’s Gable stach. Awesome.
Uvox best song!
Time goes by too soon..so true
IT DOES
I never knew they made a video for "Passing Strangers". Was the song ever released as a single ?
Yes. Clear vinyl. Only got to number 57.
@@davemcintyre7195 Was it the last release from the album ?
@@markreville6917 No. I think it was the first. Google it.
