- Lithium Battery, GOODBYE! China Has Started PRODUCING Worlds 1st EV With Sodium Solid State Battery
In 1991, the lithium-ion battery changed the way we use batteries. But, it has a lot of problems. It's expensive. Materials are hard to find and harmful to the environment. It doesn't work well in very hot or very cold weather, and can sometimes even catch fire.
Because of these problems, scientists and companies are looking for other types of batteries that might work better. One of these is the sodium solid-state battery, which could be a solution.
In today’s video, we will look at Lithium Battery, GOODBYE! China Has Started PRODUCING Worlds 1st EV With Sodium Solid State Battery

This is what most consumers are waiting for, safety comes first,
affordable and cost effective and finally hopefully durable! Cheers Dongfeng! China!🤞🤟🤘👍👍👍
This is fake news.😂
I hope it’s going to work!! I’d prefer a solid state battery in my car if it’s less expensive and less likely to burst into flames!!
If you want to use a battery from a company whose name begins with Dong? Why couldn't they name themselves Pamela Anderson? That I'd buy.
@@bunsw2070You must love a country where racism is legal. 😅
Yea right…China govt really really cares about people and the environment 😂😂😂😂😂. No they don’t.
@@susantroupe9341 Like you care? Hahahaha. Look in your dirty mirror 😅😂
There are millions of cars with batteries on the roads, they're. Not instantaneously catching fire all over the place. A battery in a car is no more dangerous than a huge tank full of explosive petrol.
No reason to get excited yet. Just wait and see if it actually gets into production. I predict the claims will be widely different from reality.
I stopped watching when he tried to sell us the fire stats not taking into account the disparity of numbers. BS
For humanity's sake, I pray what you're saying is true. I have been waiting for solid state battery for years. If it's true, thanks God. We are moving to a new era.
Its not about saving your environment, its about controlling you!!!
I stopped watching when he tried to sell us the fire stats not taking into account the disparity of numbers. BS
Forgot to mention we generate nowhere near enough electricity in the U.K to sustain electric vehicles and roughly two thirds of what we generate worldwide comes from fossil fuels so that needs to change.
That's a Draconian dinosaur concept. There's enough electricity in a house that's been retrofitted with solar panels and battery storage to charge the car and power the entire house. Without the right wing monger tariffs you can purchase all the component equipment for under $15,000. Not paying electric bills and charging your electric car forever for free. That's the reality of it. That's what exists now today.
If they cared about the environment they would close down the factories
That’s sustainability for you.
The sodium made batteries are already on the market.... so are the first cars....
Many companies are developing solid state batteries based EVs. Some, like Honda, Toyota, Ford, BMW and so on, have successfully demonstrated this new technology. However, I don’t think it is being mass produced and sold on the market yet.
@@sachungName a model you can buy today. Honda is actually saying EVs are irrelevant and they are not interested in EVs.
If this is for real (China has been economical with the truth in the past) this will mean that all current EVs will be worthless because nobody will want the old battery technology unless it is VERY cheap.
>> (China has been economical with the truth in the past)
Difference between EV catching fire and gasoline car catching fire is jot the probability of it happening. Both are prone to fire with similar probability. But the CONCERN IS LITHUM FIRES CANNOT BE EXTINGUISHED or really hard to extinguish.
I agree hybrids and are the worst statisticly and it's what I drive oh well
lots of the fires that firefighters respond to are in waste management facilities because people improperly dispose of lithium ion batteries from for instance, laptops, by throwing them in the trash instead of proper disposal.
This will be the earth saving technology. thanks you
Nice joke buhahahahahahahahahha 😂😂
The Earth does not need savin from a non-existing climate emergency.

Really , it’s going to save of us … lololol ….HOW!!! ,
Battery from Sodium will be changemaker of Ev car😊😊😊😊
Not really. Sodium battery went against Lithium battery right at the beginning, failed, and was obsoleted. They brought it back because Lithium is now 130 times its original price 20 years ago so they brought Sodium back into the game because it is cheaper. Expect the Sodium battery still have all the problems it had 20 years ago, namely energy density.
@@egaskradR&D, believe my fried.😅
@@cpm2k Sodium and Lithium are on the same row on the periodic table. whatever R&D done on Na or Li is very much possibly usable on the other. If you think Na is much better than it was, Li is double on that improvement. Na was 70Wh/kg at the beginning and now 160Wh/kg. Li was 90Wh/kg at the beginning and now 500Wh/kg.
You did not mention EV fires are intense and hard to put out. No EV for me.
Leave it to the Asians
Toyota has pioneered this type battery already, and it's improving.
Toyota does not fully meet the standards and the cost is too high to have scale production value
Maybe it can use the sodium we have in our body. Then we will never have high blood pressure.
@Reliance needs to start producing those.
USA needs to get on the ball we are falling too far behind
That’s what happens when America big business move’s its technology to China for cheaper labour for bigger profits their is no copyright laws in China so they can steal everything.
Why is EV insurance so high then ?

@ 2:55 aren't they mixing sodium batteries with lithium ones? So they are not totally getting rid of lithium batteries!
So nice new tech battery if its true news.
I wonder how Elon got his EV's through safety with those fires...
Just like the phone you are holding, and any other wireless device you are using, it’s part of the tech / chemistry. Elon didn’t have to… lith batteries advantages and flaws were well documented before it was put into cars.
Tesla using BYD blade battery made from China 😂
Back on 1972 (electrical apprentice) I had to resit the year at college but had the previous years notes. During the lecture on battery technology, I had the notes about the future Sodium batteries but they were omitted for discussion - I always thought somebody had bought up the company and buried the concept.
Welcome to my world..! I was an electrical apprentice in 1961. We had lots of hydro power to get half the energy requirement. Good old days..!!
Same as the oiless ceramic engine. Came and disappeared again in 1981.
Omitted because the technology wasn't advanced enough for it to be a worthwhile discussion, hence 2023 and still nothing.
Yeah, right up there with the 'self-driving-tractor'.
what happens to the hundred of thousands of unsold EV's gathering dust , and the price war that's going on ,through over production of EV's that are not selling , and the bankrupt companies that make an EV virtually undrivable :))))
Like the spin. An EV fire is way more serious than an ICE car. More a sales video
I will believe it when I drive one.
Kiss of death. No way. Majority of transportation of Army still using Oil. Is just a lot cheaper for the government only.
No!! Until it comes with 500 kilometres, this is not really going to replace the Lithium Ion battery pack in my Renault Zoe!!
A better safer battery would make me consider an electric car. The problem with statistics on fires in electric cars is that in these cars it is nearly always serious and difficult to extinguish. Most car fires is ICE are electrical anyway and only powered by 12 volts and rarely fuel related and are easily extinguished and in many cases repair is possible. 30 years in the fire service has shown me this .
I prefer the japanese system hybrid its safe and good no need a plug and with petrol engine is so easy to fill up 😊

China's hybrid power is no worse than Japan's, just because the price is too cheap and entering your market will be sanctioned.
I like never having to fill up, whilst you divert off your route to get to a fuel pump, queue to get to the pump , get your hands dirty then have to walk to the till queue again to pay, I haven't had to do any of that as my EV charges when I'm asleep.
When will it hit the market ?
Whats the cost and energy density?
Been hearing about this for years
We need them to charge them selves up as they go along like they do now in a normal car not keep stopping to charge them up that’s if the chargers work
Just like the “vaccine” new types of battery come along all at once , like magic.
Energy density is poor on natrium solid state batteries. This is maybe the reason for that the range with charged batteris not is mentioned.

We are producing sodium batteries in Northvolt Skellefteå Sweden
Sodium ion batteries are still in the initial stages , it can have a later enhanced version with better performance than it's presently in the market ..
You're behind the times...
Sodium ion batteries I l believe are being installed in Chinese cars TODAY!!
Sodium batteries have been around for a long time, but updated battery technology for cars will enter production and use in 2024. Factories have been built for special sodium batteries in Japan, China, and America. Europe They are present and will be produced. They do not require complex materials and metals, which makes their spread in the market easier and faster.
Buy Chinese buy twice.
Looking for portable batteries for spare to extend the range. And carry home or hotel for charging during the journey.
Maybe we can reverse engineer their battery!
Elon musk doubts whether there is enough battery materials to serve the increasing construction of the e.v's.
That is if every car is made with an old style Lithium battery.

Solid state still needs lithium in EVs. There is not enough lithium to replace ICE cars. What are we to use for mobile phones, salt?
A basic science lesson :
Atomic # of Lithium = 3
Atomic # of Sodium = 11
Both Li+ and Na+ carry single positive charge. Na+ has a weight penalty of 3.67 times that of Li+
One needs almost 4 times the mass of Lithium to make a battery that can store equivalent amount of charge with Sodium. This is a fundamental fact in nature which you cannot overcome.
Sodium batteries will never reach the energy density per kg of Lithium batteries.
Too much hype circulating.
Yes, Sodium is cheaper!!! Good candidate for ESS. Can potentially replace LFP for ESS applications.
I am in the battery industry.
Good news

Bharat will come first in lithium batteries.. that will be a revolution. Lithium is proven in all equipments especially in mobile phones.
The Boastful man has many secrets and lies to hide
I read most of The Factories in China went bust..and closed down because of The Pandemic..! Hence motor Parts and other things being out of Stock...! So which Factories are going to Manufacture these Sodium Batteries...?🤔🤔😇
You still living in 2020 ?
BYD been making solid state batteries for years
So a battery that is safer, gets more mileage, charges faster, is cheaper to produce and environmentally friendlier than lithium batteries. Did I forget something? Where is the downside?
@@siminlin8604 years ago "Made in China" was not much of quality lable. I think they have caught up nicely. Also if the batteries are as advertised they can and will be manufactured all over the globe.
They still have regular battery issues like phantom loss of charge and lack of ev infrastructure
@@quincycuthbert5408 it's a step in the right direction. Any quality issues will be worked out over time. When Henry Ford started to spit out the Model T gas stations were few and far apart. It unrealistic to expect charging stations all over the nation overnight. It's also unrealistic to think combustion engines will disappear at a certain date. They will exist along EVs and other alternative powered cars a while longer.
@@karlheinzegger9790 ev's have been out long enough the infrastructure should be solid enough by now. If the US has said we are moving forward with EVs but can't even decide on a universal charging port we aren't moving anywhere.
@@quincycuthbert5408 you touched a valid point here. Not everyone in the US says we are going forward with EV. Depends on who holds power the going forward can be very slow. For quite a large part of the population (in every country) a car that has no rumble under the hood is not a car.
The charging port will be sorted out in time.
Will daofeng produce a model similar to weevan or mz-45 ? Or delivery van or mpv with a range of 300km, when are they planning to introduce it?
Wouldn't it be nice, just for once, just for bloody once, if even one of the miraculous new technology batteries you hear about in youtube videos actually existed.

How much power from the solid-state batteries compared to weight and size of lithium cells?
Where does the extra electricity come from? Is it coal like for lithium?
About twice as much power compared to the same size.
@Ad__Rem But don't the internal constituents of solid state batteries, which vary based on construction, isn't lithium a key factor in most.
So, where is the scarce and expensive lithium going to come from?
@@Ad__Rem Yes, on the Lithium ones. Far less than Sodium ones. Batteries themselves are lighter though. That may to pave the way for less powerful engines to power, especially the smaller cars and then the combination of lighter batteries and less powerful engines will at least in a good way to solve the range issue.
0f all the petrol and diesel cars that caught fire, was it an electrical or fuel fire, if it was electrical then the stats belong on the ev list, and were the fires put out or was it a total loss, lets see the full stats, also the cost of damage done by electrical fires compared to fuel fires
Quadruple the size of the electrical power grid and generation and ev's will rule!😂
BYD have already got sodium battery cars
Even if it doesn't catch on fire you still have to charge it using fossil fuels.
Batteries as we now KNOW. loses power JUST SITTING
The guy in this video said EV is no more dangerous than a gas car in terms of catching on fire. However, he didn't tell you that an EV fire is much more intense and much more difficult to put out. He also didn't tell you that an EV can catch on fire while sitting there doing nothing. He also didn't tell you that a guy's Tesla caught on fire and he couldn't open his car door because it lost electrical power. He had to kick and break the window in order to get out.
I have been driving gas cars and diesel trucks for 40 years. I have never seen a vehicle catch on fire while it was just sitting (entirely cooled down) there doing nothing. Petro by itself will not ignite. It needs an external heat source before it will burn. EV batteries, on the other hand, do not need an external heat source. The batteries can generate the heat by itself and burn. It's a ticking time bomb.
Yep, EVs the choice of the the dogooders with no sense and definetly more money than brains!
Just saw another video where a company called Natron in the US is already doing it.
This is the next stage of battery technology, which is being developed globally, but it is unknown who will succeed and produce on a large scale

Sodium is a fire hazard if it comes into contact with water so more fires
I’m pretty sure that ideas going to work challenge will be scaling it there’s a lot upside almost impossible to have a fire caused by the battery greater range greater power faster charging I think it’ll work

All the numbers comparing ev fires Vs gasoline engine fires. Was there any data on the cause of the fire? Fuel line leaks? Electrical arcing? Comparative age of the vehicles burnt? I'm all for electric if there's sufficient infrastructure to support ev cars.

Why the car companies dont place solar panels on the roof of the cars
Why?
because it is pointless. having solar panel on the roof of your car and place it under a clear summer sky would give you roughly 1~2 miles of range per day, assuming 12 hours of sunlight, as of 2023.

Solid state can't be a solution
Why did you say it had a front engine? Is it a hybrid or is it an electric motor and you don't know the difference?
I could make a car that is electric that you never have to charge just from what I learned in college. But if they can't tax your money, you're not allowed to build it or someone else would have done this. It's a voltage boosting system used for stadium lighting that can turn 12VDC into 36KVDC. And then you take 12 from 36K and you have 35.88KVDC to run your motor.
You could thleriroretically run this with a standard12VDC lead, acid battery and resistors and diodes.
It's the current that counts not the volts
