Being caucasian and the father of 3 bi-racial girls I have seen allsorts of racism and whispers and heard evil stuff.Mixed families exist and will always exist.People need to understand that love has no colour except the red of your heart.I adore my wife of 14 years and worship my girls and plan on loving her to the day i die and hope to have a son soon.peace

I'm not going to even bother reading any below comments because I'm sure it's a bunch of back and forth racial non sense. Which is unfortunate because the fact of the matter is...families like this exist EVERYWHERE! Another fact is, it's not just black and white but a lot of different mixing of backgrounds and it's going to continue happening. So, on that note...I'm going to see this movie because it looks like a good story (period).

To your point, I think this movie would be a lot more interesting if they had chosen two different races, or swapped out one of them. Any combination would be better than this. Of course, then they'd have to change the title :p
This looks to be a GREAT movie. This happens more than people know. More and more grandparents are raising their grandkids, black, white, or both. Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer are both magnificent actors.
Neither of these actors need money. They chose to make this movie because they believe in it. Knowing full well the state of unrest our nation is in. This movie is original, it is what this country is going through.

I watched the movie and it's just how white/black people should be towards one another. This man wasn't racist, yes he noticed there was a difference in their races but it wasn't derogatorytowards black people as a whole. It also shows how most black people know how to show empathy without so much of an effort as others.. The financial state of the fictional characters doesn't bother me one bit because it's usually how things actually are.. sorry if the truth makes you mad.

since im a white mother with a moroccan african child.. believe me.. my daughters people on her dads side are VERY much warm.. funny and lots of them.. kevin reminds me of my moms family.. believe me I will EMBRACE this movie... unless you straddle both worlds.. this wont make a tons of sense.. but to me it does big time!

Octavia Spencer is so good at acting, it's crazy to me that she hasn't one an academy award for best actress, not just supporting actress.

I think the title has to do with the biracial girl like how everyone forces mixed people to be seen as black but they are both.
Ii read in Hello Mag from 2014 an old one..( now 2017..) that Kevin loved the script so I watched it on netflix and loved it..

Love this movie I cry when watching it
I loved this movie. I couldn't stand the lawyer but u loved Costner's monologue towards the end. He speaks of truths that others are afraid to speak of. This is an excellent movie.
You know what bothers me? People knowing that the film is about Black & White, hence the name, but they watch the trailor and comment as if they didn't know that the movie was about race! I think some people come on UA-cam for attention and to vent about their personal feelings. I like Kevin Costner and I don't think he'd do a film that would negatively impact his own people. The movie represents a lot of biracial families circumstances. It looks beautiful. I'll support it.

How to make a successful movie/book/UA-cam video/song/whatever:
1. Pick a controversial issue. Race, sexual orientation, religion, etc. The more controversial the better.
2. Get people to react to it. It doesn't matter who's right or wrong, so long as the masses are losing their shit and consuming your product.
3. Profit.

Seems like deaths are also what throws a wrench in the machine, in this movie. I know in real life, it's usually the people who came together to make the mixed child, that joins the families harmoniously. Without that bridge, I imagine it's more difficult.

@akelly929 No. You can really think that you love someone, and things still just don't work out. Love isn't enough. Like when you're pregnant with nothing but the clothes on your back, and no one to take care of you. Love isn't enough. You have to also be responsible. Same with choosing your spouse. You can't just love them. They have to fit the bill for being something long-term. And you have to also have yourself together, and be sure that your love for a person isn't influenced by trauma.
