Once upon a time all those bikes there had a loving owner who worshiped it and used it as it was intended to. It was their only bike and was an important part of their lives. I truly hope that all the bikes there get to enjoy that again.
We have a 46 Indian Chief my late grandpa loaned my dad the money to buy when we lived in Mississippi in 1993-5 when I was 7-9.. it was only $500, a complete rust bucket missing the seat and fenders and the engine and trans had been full of water and locked up.. Both my sister and I sat outside under our patio cover the winter we got it sanding the primer a local guy sprayed on the frame for free. Unfortunately all the work was for naught as when we were coming back to California we stopped in Oklahoma City and someone broke into our Jeep and stole my dad's guns and threw the frame on the ground scratching it down to bare metal, and it also needs some rust repair anyways. My dad's a disabled vet, his dad was US Army retired and had worked on Indians in WW2 which is why he helped him get it, he died in 2000. Unfortunately we don't have the money to put into fixing it.. I'm autistic and have a LOT of physical limitations that keep me from working so I'll never have the money to put into it. I wish I could do a build series on here of fixing it, even if it was just hot rodding it/making it more drivable on today's roads with like a Baker 6 speed and good brakes and bobbed/Harley fenders.. The tanks are in PERFECT shape, they just need cleaned and painted. I think if I'd be okay with anyone buying it it'd be Matt, I know he'd take care of it and treasure it, even though I wish it could stay in the family and let my nephew ride it someday. (I don't have a gf/wife, let alone kids) Oh and btw, the engine and transmission are both numbers matching according to my dad.
Yeah I live in Wauseon Ohio the fairgrounds is over by the turnpike there’s actually a restaurant over there that’s got pretty good food I didn’t make it to the swap meet this year I was out of town but it is a fun time to go
Drinking game. Take a shot every time Matt says ''incredibly rare!'' Just pulling your leg guys. You could make a drinking game of every time I've said ''wow!" ''no sh*t!?'' ''man that is so cool!!'' Wheels through time is just the absolute sh*t! I cant wait till I can get there in person. I just cant tell you how much I appreciate you sharing your knowledge of these incredible pieces of American history with us. Thank you so much Matt.
These are my favorite type of videos! Going through all the “stuff” ; parts/accessories, memorabilia, advertising etc! Would love to see more of these!
The only thing about Harley that interests me , is the panhead . My first Harley was a 56 pan . I guess I never should have sold it . Lol . Now I m trying to find another one , I sure do like that red one you got there .
There used to be a motorcycle shop in Fridley Minnesota called Kokesh motorcycle and they used to have a knuckle head drag bike with a supercharger on it that looked like the same kind used on the Studebaker golden hawk and it had a custom frame with a big slick on the rear and they named it the white knuckle express. They used to have it on display in the building along with other old HD 's that they restored and when they had their bike show each year they would put the drag bike out for people to look at and sold t shirts on the bike to help pay for parts and fuel to run it . The shop was around for years then the owner died and his son took the business over for a few years and eventually it closed up so I bet that bikes probably somewhere in the metro area still . There used to be 2 drag strips not far away from the shop one called North Star drag ways in Mounds view and the other Minnesota drag ways in coon rapids and I am sure this bike used to run at either tracks at one time. This bike would look cool sitting on display at this museum if they could some how find where it's at and strike a deal up to buy it and bring it to the museum and get it running to start for the patrons coming to the museum .
Hey! I was just there the other day! I recall seeing you, Matt roll up to the door with your daughters in a sidecar after they had a ride. It was adorable and I loved your museum. It was on my list alone of my destinations to see before I left tacoma. I'm back home now after riding 7,500 miles. But im lookin forward to coming back to maggie valley.
I love old bikes and especially Harley. That said I never collected any. I did however collect early ford parts and pieces fr 1964 on. The best era when old stock was purged from closed dealerships. I know exactly the ‘joy’ you had finding these coveted and rare parts. And as well the joyous ‘pain’ of overspending the budget. Some things are so cool or rare… well you just gotta jump on it. Well done Sir.
Matt would you ever consider doing a video for someone that is new to the old bikes (like myself), on what to look for if shopping for say a flathead or knuckle? 😬👍
Man, you’ve got some great treasures there. Really dig the j-slot air cleaners and the Flanders bars. Been thinking about fabbing some exhaust for my 47 and really really dig the exhaust you rounded up. Didn’t know you had been hunting beaded windshield stuff. I’ve ended up with some nos beaded windshield replacement pieces for those windshields that came in a pile of parts mom and dad got at an auction from a dealership that gone out of business. Got red, blue and clear bottom panels and some new clear tops that are all oem replacement parts and pieces that I’m assuming were for use on wrecked bikes but could just be leftover parts that were never used. Had to hop back on and give an opinion on the bars. The Hellings and Stellings bars are okay but they really do look better on a K-model style bike or very early Ironhead. Even though they’re a 1 inch bar they still have a bit too much of the British styling for a big twin for me, again just an opinion. Flanders bars are the Cats a$$ as far as I’m concerned, bought a couple sets from Darol Dryden over the years and they’re some of the best bars I’ve ever owned. They have the most uniform wall thickness thru the bends that I’ve ever seen and are almost unbendable. The internal throttle and spark retard are even better icing on the cake, surely you’ve got some Beck grips to go with em to add to the dealer accessory styling.
For those vintage Flanders 30s-40s handlebars, they look better on that other project. They just make the bike look as if it came straight from the Milwaukee factory. Nothing against the high bars, they’re cool, but OEM stuff makes it more cooler and classy. What a killer find Matt! Hope to hear that ‘48 Panhead run soon!
I just saw where there was an auction being held and on the 30th they had the #1 knuckle head being auctioned off that was restored by a northern restoration company.
Don't know if this helps but I just got a message from what looks like a scammer pretending to be you or your company. I looked into some of the options for the message and it says who ever it is joined 3 months ago. They robbed your logic. It said teligram me. Had a hand pointing to the right and official wheels through time written out followed by two hands pointing up and some gift emojis saying they have a gift for you.
Matt, just a great pile. I met you and your late great dad Dale at that meet several times. I remember your Dad told me I have the best looking Knucklehead on the judging field. It was a '39 model E ( only 214 units produced) It's also my birthday. I'd say run those Flanders bars, they look great.
Dang l am a day late 🥵....l used to love going to the bone yard looking for old bike parts...To old to do that anymore....But Matt got Bike Treasure Wow....Thanks Matt....Shoe🇺🇸
Matt, you're like a kid in the candy store, and you just can't fake the excitement and enthusiasm you display over any thing to do with these treasure bikes. I'm sure you have Harley Davidson motor oil runnin' through your veins. God Bless and stay safe.
My father was an alchy, so no school bags for me. I grabbed one of my father's old leather saddle bags he used to use on his early 50's Matchless, added a rope, threw it over my shoulder and I had a better school bag than any of the other kids.
Ahhh there’s that ‘50 pan I was fortunate enough to get a “sneak peak” of during our visit. Matt, it also happened to be the very same day the couple stopped by on their jet ski bikes😎👍
great video ... much great stuff - been following for years "whats in the barn" the 1907 - 08 vintage races (when you blew the front tire near the finish line) this show really reminded me of your dad "that excitement ,that energy" you have an incredible abundance of knowledge to pass on to others - thank you
Matt I reckon between yourself and the guys from antique archaeology you'd be laughing when it comes to getting 100% original bike parts and antique or vintage bikes. You look like the kid in the candy shop with the excitement on all the parts you picked up lol. Have fun mate!
Nice friggin' score, Matt! Holy shit, you got some incredible stuff, and that bike is crazy! Thanks for allowing us to live vicariously through you; this is dream stuff! Thanks, dude! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
Great Finds! I can feel your excitement and I'm several hours south of you! The red bike is very cool, and worth a go! Excited to see future builds... Blessings from Georgia ⚔️🇺🇸⚔️ 🤜🤛
tomorrow morning i will be at the post office as soon as it opens to get my wheels trough time t-shirt... took almost three weeks to get to Italy, but who cares... can't wait!!! Much love and appreciation from Italy to Matt, Chris and all the staff at WTT, thank You for sharing all this with us...
Only motorcyçles can have a adult man tha excited especially with the musem so your like a kid in a candy store and you still go crazy you and yoir dad are both legends doing amazing things
Great video. We’re there last August and Matt you were so awesome to us. You started up a few bikes and some of your old cars. It was a great visit. Thank you for being so friendly and willing to explain different things to us. My wife and i along with our friends appreciated it.
I’m not much of a motorcycle guy. I don’t ride (yet) but your channel has inspired me! I love history. I love museums and what you are doing is just amazing!
man, even if Matt wasn't Dale's son, I can't think of a better person to carry on the legacy of this amazing museum.
Amen brother !
I totally agree
Totally agree with that 👍
No one else has the heart for it like Matt does now dales gone
Matt you are a national treasure. Love your enthusiasm. Hope to shake your hand someday. God Bless. The Flanders bars are sweet.
Once upon a time all those bikes there had a loving owner who worshiped it and used it as it was intended to. It was their only bike and was an important part of their lives. I truly hope that all the bikes there get to enjoy that again.
1948, first year of the Panhead, last year running the Springer forks. One year only!
That red 48 pan is just a year older than me and we bought have a little life left in us. I sure we could spend it together.
We have a 46 Indian Chief my late grandpa loaned my dad the money to buy when we lived in Mississippi in 1993-5 when I was 7-9.. it was only $500, a complete rust bucket missing the seat and fenders and the engine and trans had been full of water and locked up.. Even if you ain't a bike fan, just the excitement and energy in these videos will make you one.
Yeah I live in Wauseon Ohio the fairgrounds is over by the turnpike there’s actually a restaurant over there that’s got pretty good food I didn’t make it to the swap meet this year I was out of town but it is a fun time to go
I can just see you smiling driving down the road looking at the bags hahahahaha
Drinking game. Take a shot every time Matt says ''incredibly rare!''

P.S. Those Knucklehead high pipes would sound absolutely mind blowing without mufflers. Just straight and glorious.
Matt, you should put those '39 bags on the '22 knuck raffle bike.
I'll need some way to carry my luggage when I ride it out of there....LOL
Put the Flanders handle bars on that knuckle head. Badass lookin.
The only thing about Harley that interests me , is the panhead . My first Harley was a 56 pan . I guess I never should have sold it . Lol . Now I m trying to find another one , I sure do like that red one you got there .
Yes to the Flanders bars on that bike..

Early Ford… meaning 1932-1948. Sorry for the date confusion I started attending swap meets in 1964.
Was there and a good meet, glad you found a guy with gas.
Matt would you ever consider doing a video for someone that is new to the old bikes (like myself), on what to look for if shopping for say a flathead or knuckle? 😬👍

Nice find Matt, hard to come by parts there you got a good 👁️ EYE Matt✔️👍😎
You remind me of a five year old kid on Christmas morning, feelings and excitement we don't have any more as adults, you are so blessed.

Great video matt yes the flanders bars will look superb on that 38
The enthusiasm is over the top, just like his dad.
Just for everyone's info, the mt Garfield hill climb is August 6th. Muskegon Mi. There's stuff from there on the hill in the museum.
Tanks are 1930-31 vl, also the stepped hub started in 1935 actually on the RL model.
Matt, just a great pile. I met you and your late great dad Dale at that meet several times. I remember your Dad told me I have the best looking Knucklehead on the judging field. It was a '39 model E ( only 214 units produced) It's also my birthday. I'd say run those Flanders bars, they look great.
good finds, folks may hate on "tiawan tedd" but they keep a lot of old bikes running and on the road with stuff no one else even makes.
Original Flanders!!

Thanks Brad! We appreciate your support!
Also, I had to LITERALLY talk myself out of this year's raffle, because that bike was SO GORGEOUS, I am not going to let it happen in the next one.
Ahhh there’s that ‘50 pan I was fortunate enough to get a “sneak peak” of during our visit. Matt, it also happened to be the very same day the couple stopped by on their jet ski bikes😎👍

Good to see you Joe!!
This is so much fun. The craftsmanship that's gone into all of this is what we have to get back to as a Nation. Motor on, Matt!
So much excitement, you'll sleep like a rock tonight, old buddy.
