In my day; being a weeb wasn't something to be proud of.
The fact that people today are so open about it explains the massive drop in quality storytelling. Because artists now write for weebs, not anime fans.

Otaku is the person obsessed with anime, otaku =/= weeb, but people now use them as interchangeable terms
