UA-cam comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we've tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of UA-cam comment sections, in our experience.
We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are "officially" associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don't actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

The hosts explain some massive flaw in Andrew's reasoning.
Andrew: I understand.
Then proceeds to demonstrate that he doesn't understand one single thing
The first line in Genesis that was later removed by an editor...
"You're not going to believe this".
If Noah really existed, his words to god would be: "We gonna need a bigger boat."
Came across a cartoon of Noah with the partly constructed ark in the background with his thought bubble containing "I can't believe no one else has a boat".
That boat really was full of SHIT.....plus the world was repopulated with Noah's family typical INCEST Bible story. 🙄
SO WHAT'S THE POINT

@@camcam8995 I got over my fear of my eventual nonexistence after death with a "thought experiment" while I was still a torturer worshiper, and before my biology education cemented that humans are simply animals with complex brains:
I asked myself "What would happen if we're just like the animals and we don't have souls?"
It took some thinking, but I came to the understanding that I wouldn't notice that I'm not in heaven and all ready to worship yahweh for all eternity, because my consciousness wouldn't be… anywhere.
In that way: Seven year old me was much more brave than any lifelong torturer worshiper.
"According to creation scientists" is not really making a good argument, FYI.
In fact, using the argument "According to creation scientists..." immediately discredits what is being stated, precisely we already know how creationists get everything about the science they're discussing wrong, through misreprentations, distortions, outright falsehoods, and often a sheer inability to comprehend basic logic in regard to the glaringly fallacious nature of so much of their argumentation.
@@steveg1961 This guy actually lives within five miles of me. I'll bet he's one of the slower members of the human race I'm likely to run into if I go to Walmart.
@@annk.8750 But sometimes I run into creationists who are quite intelligent. Their problem is that they're not smart, in regard to having bought into a circular reasoning belief system that what they believe MUST be "true" because "That's what God said" - so therefore any and all of the science that shows anything different must be wrong in some way. (That's the circular reasoning going on there.)
By the way, I happen to work at a Walmart currently. ;-)
An oxymoron at its best
It's estimated that, if the Noah story were real, the Egyptian pyramids were constructed about 100 years after that event. So where did all those thousands of workers, who worked on building the pyramids, come from?. After all, wasn't everyone wiped out during the flood apart from Noahs family.
Stop it! Giving christians facts is like giving rocks to babies for food.
Tracie: "Where is your demonstration that a god exists?"
Andrew: "I don;t understand."
... The oceans would have already been filled with water... Where did all the EXTRA water go?
It evaporated, duh.
It sank to the center of the hollow earth. Natch!

Flat Earther: Some of the extra water fell off the edges of the Earth. Some of the extra water has been collected by NASA and is being used to drown my brethren in secret.
None of those believers can answer any simple questions. Having so much fun listening.
Didn't the ocean have water in them all along? Regardless of the volume of the oceans, the concept of a global flood is still ridiculous
Yeah exactly. The "where did the water go?" doesn't lead to "into the ocean" because it was supposed to already BE an ocean.
But it's in the bible! Fart sound
@@gowdsake7103 water tunnels....
None of this proves the existence of god.
What bugs me is that nobody thinks of the fish and what would have happened to them during and after a global flood. Any type of water, including rain water that makes up a global flood would completely alter the water parameters of any body of water. All fish survive in a specific set of parameters (temperature, ammonia, nitrate, nitrate, PH, GH, KH, mineral levels, salinity for saltwater and brackish fish, etc). A global flood would cause every single parameter to swing so drastically that it would kill so many species of fish, if not all of them. Yet the fish are perfectly fine, and we’re fine during that timeframe.
This person admits all of these things dont prove a god exists yet hangs it off a worldview.
Accepting conclusions before you have positive evidence pointing to them isnt a worldview. Its a falacious state of reasoning.
Faith is not a virtue
im sure that back in bible days, someone lived to be like 60 years old, and many people died young, so people would say oh man that guy has been alive since my grandfather was alive and then it ballooned to 900 years. very much as the big fish story people tell.
The "big fish story" being that whopper about Jonah?
Nah, people have had continuously increased life expectancy from the very beginning. Back in the Bible’s time, people definitely didn’t averagely live to 60
Troy Barnes iiiii
thats why, there was that one person who lived longer than everyone else. and to everyone as they told the story of this one person, it turned to 900 years....
There have been theories that the Genesis accounts were mistranslated and an extra 0 was added to those ages. So instead of living to 900 years, they might have lived to 90.
poor andrew, severely damaged by indoctrination, thinks he can explain things using his favorite book of fairytales
Or by eating paint chips, dropped as a baby, kicked in the head by a mule, any of these are legitimate causes.
@@seanjones2456 No he was just indoctrinated like a hundred million others.
Like millions of christians
If there was a global flood, wouldn't all the oceans have been full during the flood? Where was the extra room in the oceans to contain all the other water? This argument is, as usual, brainless.
Geez...Everyone knows that god put the oceans on a diet and they all went to Jenny Craig and made room for the flood water. Don't you know anything?
That is a good point.
Yes, that argument just doesn't hold water .... ;)
For millions of years, there were lots of grunts, which gradually evolved into words.
At the beginning there were no words, no spoken words and certainly no written words.
Words such as 'let', 'there', 'be' and 'light', are all words invented by humans.
The Word(s) of God is/are actually the word(s) of humans. Very recent word(s).
My question about the "flood" is how did our atmosphere hold that much water BEFORE it started raining? Presumably it wasn't going back while it rained.
The god opened the windows in the firmament, the windows that separated the waters above from the waters below. Sheesh, don't you know anything? 🤪
God left his bath running and forgot to turn it off
"Proving Noah's flood is difficult, but I'm trying".
Clearly he's not. The amount of proof that completely destroys the notion Noah's flood happened is overwhelming.
The guy is wrong in his first 30 seconds. He says that the fact that nobody after the flood lived to be more than 120 years old proves that the Bible is right. But Genesis 11 lists all the generations between Shem and Abraham born after the flood, and every one of them lived to be at least 120, all but one lived to be at least 200, a couple of them lived to be over 400, and Abraham himself lived to be 175.
That sounds exhausting to live that long
I love you, Tracie! and the way you let them go on after the 1st argument then shorten the rope.
Callie, you're sharp as a tack! Hope we see you more! :D
Whenever one of these Genesis literalists call in, I feel just like Sean Connery's character in "The Untouchables", when they were at the police academy trying to find un-bribed recruits, etc. and they got to Andy Garcia's character, "Oh, please, don't waste my time with that boolshit!"
How frustrating was that call?!? 😂
I liked how the second half of the call was the two hosts asking questions, and nothing but crickets from the caller.
VERY !!!!!!!!! ...............
No more than the vast majority of calls on this show.
VERY frustrating ......................
Not nearly as frustrating as a lot of calls, this guy is at least semi nice and listened, it seems to me that he is just a guy who hasn't thought much about what he is saying or believes
The most amount of rainfall was in Maryland. Bless him, lives in a shack.
The bible says that god created the day and the night, and THEN he created the Sun to reign over the day and the Moon to reign over the night. So the light thing was probably just because the author needed a reason for the day/night cycle to exist, even without the Sun XD
So, there was a global flood, where did they get fresh water after the 40 days?, surely all the water would've been salt water.
I think the term is "brine" when salt and fresh water mix, but I could be wrong and it doesn't change your point.
Really going to miss Tracie
That was just painful
Complete the freaking sentence. "So what does that prove?"
We know the sun moves across the sky each day.
There must be somebody moving it.
That must be a god.
Therefore a god exists.
Rain for 40 days and 40 nights? Thats normal in Scotland!!!! ....and we don't need boats....skin is waterproof!!
Hello I'm here and it's raining !
No one in history has ever said "I understand" so often and so blatantly not understood.
If the world was completly flooded from the lowest point to the highest point would be covered in water. There would be nowhere for the water to go.

was 122 years, 164 days old ... Sorry Andrew...
Wow, that's bananas
The Pacific ocean didn't exist before the flood? Was the planet a desert before the global flood?
Well, the Bible says the exact opposite: the world was only water all the way back in gen 1:2, even before ‘let there be light’. And then came dry land on the third day. So yeah, the caller is completely backwards.

It's so annoying! So many videos promise proof of a god, and *none* of them deliver.
The Aboriginal Australians go back 70,000 years and are still alive in Australia.
As frustrating the call was, Andrew was a really respectful caller
If you believe in a god , you can believe anything.
Why aren’t they pointing out his arguments are logically fallacious? Layers and layers of appeals to ignorance and circular arguments.
Cause he wouldn't understand?
I can prove Genesis, I saw them in concert.
"The water went into the oceans". But weren't the oceans flooded as well? Where did that water go? C'mon people, think this stuff through.
Thumbnail Callie got that classic anime pushing-glasses-up-the-bridge pose 👌
But the bible said !
If the Bible told you to beat your slaves would you? One of my favorite line for christians.
"Where did the water go? It went into the oceans." OK, but Genesis says that the flood waters covered the highest mountains by (IIRC) thirty cubits. Assuming the highest mountain was then as now Mt. Everest, that's still a lot of water that needs to be accounted for.
Mariannas Trench, not Mariner's.
BTW, X-rays and radio waves are not "light." And if you read Genesis literally, God created light before he created the sun, stars, or any other source of light.
The beginning of Genesis? Like creating plants before sunlight. Ok, proof Genesis and take some plants into complete darkness and watch them grow...
Everytime that dude quotes the Bible, they should troll hin by citing Hindu creation myth. That might get the point across .
I agree, the fact that the first two chapters don't agree is very solid evidence against Yahweh as described in the Bible.
I actually just heard this broken prohecy just two days ago, amazing it happened to have been on the show without me hearing it lol
If a man lives past 120 years will this caller give up his belief? I doubt it.
Caller really only proved one thing with his call. Maybe two if you count the fact he fails to comprehend the word evidence.
Maybe, just tossing this out there, maybe those 900 year old people were actually cat people, and their ages were gauged in cat years.
Just wait pal, people are going to be living for a very long time very soon. Some of the people born today may never die.
The "circle" of the earth in the Bible verse is NOT saying the earth is round like a ball. The Hebrew word for "circle" is literally a CIRCLE, which is flat. The verse is referring to the earth as a flat circular object, like a pancake.
is callie a female?
Thinking the same and I'm not sure!
Follow up questions to where did the water go are where did it come from and how, exactly, did it more to and from the oceans. If your answer is god magic then just go with that and stop trying to make sense of non-sense by alleging you have evidence.
My argument: the Pacific ocean is like really huge
I'm very disappointed.
He said he was going to prove Genesis.
He didn't say anything about Lot's wife.
@Fragarach
Not all of her, one assumes.
How about the Lot's daughters story! Whoa! Don't read that at sunday bible school.
If the entire world was flooded, that would include the oceans, to a depth above normal sea level to submerge the land. How then would there be room for all the water flooding the continents to flow to the oceans, if the oceans were flooded to the same height?
This dude is a prank right?
Some please hold me
Abraham and Jacob lived far past 120 years, according to the same book, Genesis 🤦♂️

i guess this man has not read his bible, at the time of the tower of Babel, it has people living passed 500 years old.
This is the account of Shem’s family line.
Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father[d] of Arphaxad. 11 And after he became the father of Arphaxad, Shem lived 500 years and had other sons and daughters.
12 When Arphaxad had lived 35 years, he became the father of Shelah. 13 And after he became the father of Shelah, Arphaxad lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.[e]
14 When Shelah had lived 30 years, he became the father of Eber. 15 And after he became the father of Eber, Shelah lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.

It's about time the Christians / Muslims fought back and made a show called, say, "the religious experience" and take calls from atheists, that would be fun.
There are very few flood myths in Africa as with Australia not all native peoples had a flood stories.
So you're an atheist now right? Maybe it was glib but still priceless. This guy had stuff to think about after this call. Almost got me misty.
Cue Eye Roll - 8 seconds in.
The water could not go into the oceans, because the oceans were already there, so if the water would went into the oceans, the world would be still covered with water.
A boat 440 ft, x 150ft x75ft. It's very small. Compare that to the titanic and the titanic couldn't carry 7.77 million species of flora and fauna plus stores feed and water.
Standardize your standards for evidence and you'll be amazed at the reality your peers experience.
Gosh this guy knows nothing about science! Old faithful is sign of the Flood? How the hell did you come up with that?
So much ugh! in that phone call.
Tracie was not having it. Lol
one question if there was a global flood then out of all the myths of the flood why is the bible the true one?
The fact that he could gloss over a womans age shows he doesn't want to get it right he wants to be right.
This discussion really highlights the chasm between critical thinking and dogmatic thinking. The caller cannot even fathom a world where people don’t need to argue about the events in the Bible because there is a more fundamental problem. Great way to frame the issue!

but the oceans were there before the flood and the flood raised the level of the oceans to cover the land, then the water couldn't have gone back into the ocean the land must have raised to come out of the water.
