Hey Ron, use a white 1/8th inch automotive pinstripe between the red and gray on the tender, and it will put your fabulous paint job on another level. Great work!
Looks great!!! Keep up the custom paint schemes!!! Remember, practice makes perfect!!! Need to invest in an airbrush, it'll make the job a lot easier!!!
Ron... Are you kidding me! That thing looks Fantastic! You did a great job. I'm so impressed. This coming from a guy who can't draw a straight line with a ruler. It's beautiful, man.
Very well done, Ron. The fan motor might be saved by enlarging the wire hole, scraping the wire & use some conductive adhesive to join the wires, also give some support. Enlarge the wire hole by picking or a very fine knife. Good Luck!
Hooray! I'm a 33 percenter! Awesome paint scheme by the way! That smoke unit is outstanding as well! Hey Ron, make the next video 2 hours long, and we will put 33 percent to the test. 😂
As a dyed-in-the-wool 33%'er, I have to say that might be one of your finest restorations to date. You knocked it out of the park on that one. It was in hideous shape to start with and ended up being a work of art. Don't worry about the video lengths...we true fans don't mind. The end result was so good I didn't even mind not having a classic model of the week segment...well, still missed it but I understand. :)
It’s amazing what you can do to restore old trains. Nothing quite like taking something you’d hesitate to say if there was something that didn’t happen to it and make it look like it’s showroom new. Excellent work!
What a terrific job Ron! Always a treat to watch you work - especially on the ones that 95% of us would toss in the trash without a second thought. Just GREAT!!!
Thanks for all your hatd work, Ron. I love the red paint scheme. She looks and runs so amazingly great. And your white details really set her off. Love your channel.
Excellent job. These things were built like tanks back in the day. With a little time and know-how you can easily repair them. You just gained a new subscriber!
always a great pleasure to watch your videos, especially when you call on a SuperLub (Sooooper Loooob !!) Very Nice Job , Friendships from France, Phil
@@classicmodeltrains No matter the distances, when railway passions are shared, and I am also a collector of US railway equipment, Athearn, Roundhouse Rivarossi, Bachmann and others like Lionel, LGB and more , all my regards my friend
Wow, another one knocked out of the park. I have a brass United models 4-10-2 that was in water for a long time. It took a month for it's restoration. I love the color scheme you went with, just a great classic look, another one saved.
I really like that you are so dedicated in making old trains run again, as well, as the schematic and information that it takes to further our understanding/relationship with our Train Hobby.
Thank you Ron, I watched the whole video. Like many of your viewers I had a Lionel basic black oval that I enjoyed in my youth. Your missus is very attractive sitting on that fence post, gives me a smile. Happy birthday to her and your mom and any others out there in train land. Stay safe
That's funny, cause I watched the Vice Grip Garage too. Almost forgot to comment, train club member stopped by and of course I had to have him watch your work.
This video is a great Christmas present for me: fun, challenging, educational, inspirational. Terrific job all around Ron, and the end result is top notch. THANK YOU!
Really nice Ron! ONCE I got really lucky with a motor wire broken off from the bottom (inside) of the winding by using a wooden toothpick to carefully pick at and move the windings that covered over it until I was able to reach in and solder a piece of magnet (motor) wire to the broken end. Carefully is the magic word. And a bunch of LUCK has to be there too! Thanks for your videos!
That’s incredible!! Love the paint job on it!! I have a Lionel 2001 Hudson that I got from a friend who had never ran it before. It was in a set with the everything intact!
Hi Ron, good to see you. I finally got thru this video, started watching Monday then called away. Watching a bit at a time all week, been busy here also. Wow, you did it again. Great save. I'm sure you will fix the horn in the tender. It sure smokes, going down the rails good. Nice paint scheme, good colors. Happy birthday to your wife and mother from another Sagittarius, 1212/62 here.. 😁. Go 33%ers. Cheers from here buddy, G 👏👍🇨🇦
Greetings G, thanks for your kind words. Ive never seen a Lionel smoke so good. that upgraded smoker heater was well worth the 10 bucks. Merry C-mas to you and yours as well :-)
I have to say Ron, most folks would have never given this a shot. You sir, are a miracle worker! That loco is absolutely STUNNING!!! If I ran O Scale (Gauge), I would be tempted to make an offer!! Another loco saved from the landfill by Ron!!!
Great job Ron. Stop being so hard on yourself. What you did is a lot of work in a short time . Absolutely love your channel. I’m an o gauger but never meet a train I didn’t like! A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the model of the week 🎂.
Well Hello Ron! Now that was amazing. That engine looked pretty well roached. It didn’t even turn when you started. Loved every bit of that restoration. Too bad about your ultrasonic cleaner. Happy birthday day to your classic model Peggy!
Thanks for doing and using all the parts and techniques to strip and restore one of these. This video represents everything I wanted to do, so now i know it’s possible. Last time i pulled and reset a wheel, i bent the axle. Oops.
Amazing job Ron bringing the 2056 back from its watery grave. Gotta say Lionel engineering, for its time, made these Locomotives tough as nails no matter what awful condition they may be in you can still give them life. Nice paint job as well. As we say here in Wisconsin "Just Giver" and congrats!!

Great job! I've got a Lionel 2025 that I repainted in a Southern Crescent paint scheme several years ago. Still looks good and it's running around my Christmas tree again this year.🚂
Beautiful job, Ron! You should be proud of what you accomplished with that locomotive and tender. A very enjoyable video!
Thanks Lee! It was a lot of fun.
very awesome results and very inspirational video....... Saved another !
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Hey Ron, use a white 1/8th inch automotive pinstripe between the red and gray on the tender, and it will put your fabulous paint job on another level. Great work!
I agree, I brought that up in the video
That’s the best looking Lionel I’ve ever seen. Seriously.
Very kind of you Sir!

Merry Christmas and thanks for everything. I am a Sagittarius, too. Some say we are blunt but I like to think we are truthful.
Blunt and to the point for sure ;-)

Thank you! That's the goal!
