- The Smothers Brothers love each other - or do they - let's find out on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.
The Smothers Brothers
The Smothers Brothers, Tom and Dick, are one of the most iconic comedy duos in the history of television. Tom and Dick began performing as a duo in the late 1950s, playing in coffeehouses and clubs in San Francisco. Their act consisted of music, comedy, and witty banter, which quickly gained them a following.
The Smothers Brothers became a household name in the late 1960s with their variety show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. The show was groundbreaking in its approach to comedy, pushing the boundaries with political satire and social commentary. The show also featured up-and-coming musical acts, including The Doors and The Who, and introduced the world to comedians like Steve Martin and George Carlin.
The Smothers Brothers' irreverent style has made them a beloved and enduring force in American comedy.

Some people you just love from a deeper place inside you. Tommy Smothers is one of those people for me. Thanks for all the nonchalant, yet craftily focused, humor, Tommy. You were/are precious.
Well said.
Exactly.
I was born in 52 to a good, nice couple. I watched these guys. I was young. Thank you, vandrey, good words. When I watched them then, and now, they were good.
RIP, Tom! Absolutely love him, love The Smothers Brothers.
Tommy a life well lived…sent truth to power! 👍
Wildly smart. Just incredible wit.
Watched Tommy since 1966 at 10 years old, I was always there to every week, same time same night, Rip Tommy 🙏 😊
They were so right, and they stood up for what they believed-at great personal cost. Boundless admiration and respect. They were models, and ahead of their time.
Remembering Tommy Smothers RIP 🙏
And they took Tom's advice!! They declared a victory - "peace with honor" - and then pulled our troops out. And Vietnam fell to the north and McNamara and his war monger buddies didn't spill any more blood or sell any more napalm, and the "domino theory" was exposed as the hoax that it was. That war was an absolute disgrace, of course, and I commend Tom and DIck for taking a stand against it. RIP Tommy - you were the best!
You are missed. You can not be replaced.
damn that last observation, but hopefully Tommy knew that Kissinger went before him.
Brave words for the time
Tommy always made me laugh my ass off. I just did again.
I rarely missed an episode. I remember when Pete Seeger sang "Waist Deep in the Big Muddy" in 1968. The show was cancelled by William Paley in 1969, the year I graduated high school. A lot going on then.
Its humour! And back then, one of the few network shows that was willing to take a stand on civil rights and the Vietnam War. For this they got cancelled - an early example of what became "cancel culture"".
They were fired, not canceled.
Dick said, "you can spend time with my family, I'll go out and have a good dinner". BaHaHa
Rest Easy Tommy...❤
"I never knew macaroni & cheese lived!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
God I love those two.
Is it just me or @3:35 was Dick about to completely lose it in laughter? 😄 Seems as thou Tom was deliberately "baiting" him in the skit.
So much truth
The Christmas truce.
I miss Tommy.😢
Nixon must've been watching because that's exactly what he did with Viet Nam - Declare a victory and pulled our troops out.
💔😢

So Tommy's a vegan
I was at his ranch in 1992. He made killer ginger garlic broccoli--with grilled meat. His home was beautiful, and he was a good host who liked to play the piano and perform. He did drink rather hard, so his behavior could change, but he was a vibrant and charismatic person, clearly one of a kind.
@@HerAeolianHarpIn Sonoma? What a fortunate experience. I would have loved to have known him….
Kamala gets all her material from Tom .
