Wow!!! I absolutely love your demos and presentations!!! It feels like I've indulged in eating several servings of ice cream my favorite dessert. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for doing this tutorial. It is one of the best I‘ve found, because you explain things while constructing a product. It is far better than just showing the tools and features. 👍🏼
Oh, I missed the LIVE. BOTH!! I've missed your tutorials! I adore that you put all the previous tutorials in the descriptions! Thanks so very very much for putting these on UA-cam! Watching from Iowa 120 minutes after the Live.
Fantastic presentation, Elaine! The Affinity suite is a wonderful set of applications that does everything I personally need from them. I have no need for Adobe and their subscription-based model, so Affinity is a great fit for me. I hope that Serif's business model is susteainable and their revenue is enough to support ongoing development. Has there been any word on v2.0 for any of the apps? Perhaps the pandemic stalled their release schedule?
The entire Affinity suite is simply FANTASTIC! The only major problem is that none of the components allow users to save files in the critical pdf/X-1a:2001 format, which is required by several US POD publishers. THAT is a deal-breaker, unfortunately, because independent publishers like Ingram reject all submissions that are not saved in this format. If only Affinity could make this happen :)
Maybe they need to change, my publisher accepts pdf and pdf/x-1a:2003, means they don’t lose business by being so strict. PDF 1.7 comes out brilliantly anyway.
Thanks Elaine! I learned a lot from this demonstration. Questions: In a story continued situation, does AP support the automatic insertion of "Continued on page x" at the bottom of text box A, and "Continued from page y" at the top of text box B? Or even named links, for example, my local newspaper has, on the bottom of the an article on page 1: "BOUDIN >> PAGE 5", then the continuation text box on page 5 has the title "Boudin" with "FROM PAGE 1" just under it. Thanks again. Kurt
QUESTION about some of the bleed area having a bit of a photo or white area and some of the bleed area with nothing. Can you create a rectangle over the entire page including the bleed as a pure white background and put that layer at the very bottom of the layer stack on the masters, so that there are no missing or different whites? I have had troubles with images and background different "whites".
They are Guides and can be added in 2 ways: 1) Drag and drop from the ruler onto the canvas or 2) Use the Guides Manager from View > Guides Manager - hit the add guide option and double click the current position value and enter the position you require. You can see this is action at 00:24:19 👍

Thanks!
Have you ever used affinity publisher for fixed text and images like in a children's book, or would you recommend another software?
Not yet! I previously used iBooks Author but since Apple are replacing that with Pages I will use Affinity Publisher at some point for that job
@@ElaineGiles I am getting ready to format for a children's picture book and would be delighted to see what you find!
