I recently went through something similar with moving out (and despite the difference in circumstances) my heart goes out to you for being so emotionally tentive and vulnerable 🤍 I struggled with processing the whole move out situation (by not doing it at all- thinking it would reduce stress) and only began to do so after I had moved out. It's a strange feeling, yet very nostalgic and everything in between. I can't wait to see more from you once you're settled and ready 🥺💗

TOTAL EMPATHY AND SYMPATHY. I JUST MOVED IN SAME TIME FRAME, PAST WEEK. SO MANY BOXES OF STATIONERY ITEMS AND SYSTEMS.
I'm 33 years old and I've moved 7 times in my life! Some were not for the best reasons but, overall, they all were for the best and gave me so much good memories!!! in the end, a new adventure is about to start!!! ❤️

Moving gets easier the more times you do, but something I've found invaluable is doing the purge _as you're packing_ rather than after. It's easier to say goodbye to things you know you don't have a use for and that it no longer brings you joy (not even the memories) but you still feel an emotional attachment to when you're packing, because then you're making a conscious decision going "thank you" to the item and the space it was in before letting them go on their next journey. It also means when you reach and settle into your new place, it lessens the nostalgia for the old place, because there's less items to remind you of it.
watching ur video makes me imagine if one day i move out from my house.. i cannot imagine the amount of stuff i need to packing.. im regretting for purchasing too much things. i need to adapt minimalist lifestyle.

After 12 moves in 9 years (thank you military) and moving into a more minimalist lifestyle, I figured out a great system to declutter your stuff. I'm sure quite a bit is common sense, but it really works and is especially easy to do when moving into a new place, so hopefully it can help you.
What you do, is pick a room to start with and then make up your boxes: DONATE, TRASH, MAYBE, MEMORY-STORAGE. Unpack as you go, taking 10-20 seconds per item and either put it in a box or find it a home right away. As the boxes fill up, empty them, get them out of the house and don't go through them again or you might change your mind. Set the MAYBE boxes off to the side and move through the rest of the house unpacking. At the very end, go through the MAYBE box again. If it doesn't have a home, it needs to go. I use a 2-20-20 system for things in the maybe box. If I haven't used it in 2 months and can replace it in 20 mins for $20 then I just ditch it.
Now, the MEMORY box, is for nostalgic purposes. I have a box that is 30x14x10in that I use for memories. I have stuff like my kid's first onesies, my baby rings, journals where I've written about event memories, my grandparent's dog tags, and flash drives with old photos. I have a rule that if I'm not willing to display it [in the living room!!] right now, and it won't fit in the memory box, then it goes. I used to have so many knickknacks I'd inherited that I just didn't like but they were old and belonged to 'obscure relative X' or 'close relative Y' and so I felt the need to keep them. It was such a waste. I specify the living room, because that's prime real estate. If it isn't deserving of the good room, then it isn't deserving at all. It will just get pushed off to a different room and become clutter.
It was super helpful. Sure, it took longer to unpack, but when we left the military and bought our first house, I was able to cut our stuff down by 60%. We had just accumulated so much stuff and had never sorted things when Hubs and I moved in together. We had focused on furniture and possessions just became closet fodder. We even found six large boxes that had never been unpacked in like 6 years. They just got shoved into the spare closet in the second bedroom as we moved through our duty station. If we didn't need it in six years, did we even actually need it?! Very literally, the only thing in those Six boxes that we kept was the watch I had been looking for and given up on as lost or stolen. I don't wear a watch, but it was my grandma's, so I had wanted it. No clue why it wasn't in my jewelry box with my grandparent's weddings rings, like it should've been, but whatever. It's there now.
Anyway, good luck with your unpacking! I hope this is even a teeny bit useful for you.

This video takes me back to when I moved out of my parents house when I was 19 years old… and then 2 years later I moved again cause I wanted to move in with my boyfriend. We broke up 1 year later and now I love alone again. But I was pretty emotional when I left my first own apartment. And your video brought back those feelings. ✨

I’ve moved 18 times in the last 13 years including moving states 4 times. And have to move in the next few months to a wheelchair accessible house before my big operation
Enjoy your new home - it's hard to leave a place when you've been there a long time - the only thing that makes moving easier is to do it every year!!! Not a good choice though - take your time and settle in - I am looking forward to seeing what you do with the new place.
Hopee you'll be able to find another place where you can feel safe and "at home"!!

I wish I could love a video. Today BTS made the decision or at least shared the decision of enrolling in the military. I realized how much they impacted my life. I found BTS at around the same time I found you Amanda, 2 and a half-ish years ago. You impacted my life just as much. I'll miss seeing this place, but I am so proud of you. You're amazing.
the good thing is that you have so much footage of your memories and milestones in this place. I sometimes have a hard time remembering some places I lived in and would love to see them one more time, but have minimal photos. So good for you
I was moving this month and the whole video I couldn’t relate more… Lived here with my partner for 6 years, moved in with just 2 suitcases and a backpack.. And now it’s too small for us, we outgrew this space and during the pandemic I felt like I’m stuck in a tiny box. I hated my room. Packing was tough, I felt like it would never end, my back just hated me. “Never again” I thought looking at all the boxes. The whole time I was so emotionally drained by fear and obscurity from current situation in my country. Keeping my brain busy helped to stay sane though. And now that I’m almost done cleaning my old apartment my emotions kicked in. It’s our first place, what I know so well, where I spent my uni years, I almost don’t wanna leave, even though my new space is so much better... But now I’ll have more space, big couch and one more fun month of unpacking and organizing 😅 Sending love and patience to everyone moving ❤

My heart goes out to you as you make the transition from old to new. As someone who has moved 21 times in 40 years due to work I understand the excitement & loss that gets mixed together as a new journey begins. I have always been able to bring some my favorite belongings with me as well as some of the best memories!
As someone who’s shifted a lot as a kid, it’s a lot of fun but the worst part is getting things organised because either you’re going to forget something or something has the unfortunate tendency to appear after many years.
This looks hard but i know you will get through!

Understand that there are so many emotions going trough you in that moment. I´ve lived in my one room apartment for almost 12 years now. It´s much smaller then yours and I live here with my man and 80 house plants. We are so ready to move into something bigger but the reason why I stayed here for so long. I was 20 when I moved in and now I´m 32, is because growing up I loved 13 times with my mom. I never felt that anyplace were my home. When people ask where I grew up I don´t know what to say because we moved so much. Everything has it´s time and you will make wonderful memories in your new place 🤍
When I moved last year, I had 96 boxes. It was absolutely crazy.
I don't want to have to move any time soon...I have so much more stuff now
As someone who as moved like 15 times in 30 years, one - we just get used to it, two, we basically keep our possessions down to the bare minimum always so it's easier to move. People who move around a lot were minimalists before that was a trend. 😂

I can so much feel with you... i moved in August. I was living again with my dad in his house the last 2.5 years. He died last November and we had to sell the house... i am still crying sometimes, even if my new place is so much more comfortable as the old house ... hugs to you
