After 4500 pellets through my .25 Impact it equates to around $245.00. Shooting 22 match ammo through my target rifle will cost me around ten times that for the same shot count. The local dive shop charges me $10.00 per fill on my fill tank and I get about 720 shots per fill. Yup $2100 is not pocket change, but over the long run it’s some of the cheapest shooting I have ever done!
@@realblakrawb There is no doubt, having gun smithed and shot competitively, I have never had anything that shoots as accurately and consistently right out of the box, having one of the early MK1 Impacts shooting pellets and an M3 launching slugs, once tuned they are scary accurate. To get any powder burner to shoot anywhere close to these Impacts requires at least some sort of blue printing and bedding the action to the stock, unless you are dropping some pretty big bucks on a chassis system and then a whole bunch of time doing load development or like with 22’s, lot testing ammo to hopefully find something that it really likes! Now you have to hope you can find enough of that lot to keep you shooting straight for a decent length of time.
Fifteen or so years ago I dabbled in air rifle shooting. The first thing I learned is that air gunners are Serious. Really, Really, Serious. Learning to track shot count, pressure curves, trajectory above and below crosshairs at various ranges. There are some truly gifted shooters in the air rifle world.
Matt is such a huge treasure trove of airgun knowledge. I have to thank him for actually getting me on the pcp track. Watching his pesting videos a year and a half ago lit the fire. I now have 6 PCP’s to include a beauty of an M3 in .25 cal. Always a treat to see him shooting with others. Keep up the great work you guys. 👍🏻👍🏻😎
Air gun addict here. Been shooting firearms all my life, just started getting into air guns in the past half dozen years, and Matt’s UA-cam channel is one reason for that. Matt is the bomb in the air gun universe. He is personally responsible for some of the recent developments in air gun technology, working with FX. The technology has exploded. Luving it all.
I first got into airguns 10 years ago. Back then, a 1" group at 50 was mind-blowing and high powered .22 PCP's were pushing 18 grain pellets at 850fps. Times have changed.
For me the biggest change to PCP’s was the introduction of the slug vs Diabolo pellets . I think everyone agrees it has stretched the distance significantly for both target and game hunting . The problem I have is an inventory of Diabolo pellets I will never use up in my lifetime . One thing I would add . Matt Dubber is without a doubt one of the most experienced Airgun shooters in the world and has contributed so much to air-gunning . If an award could be handed out for this category he would be at the top of my list .
Matt Dubber is a great guy. Love my FX Impact MK II in .c30 caliber, and my Impact M3 in .22 caliber, and that is my slug gun. You are great guy also 22 Plinkster. Great seeing you at RMAC Matt. Be safe going back home.
Two of my favorite gun guys in a video together! It doesn’t get much better than than! Now we need a video of the two of you in the Oxwagon series on Matts channel, that would be gold!
Back in the day, so to speak, if I could get 2MoA from my old 10/22, would have been stunned. Couldn't even see the bulls-eye at 100yds. Regularly hit squirrels at 50yds and was happy with that. Well was a teen and had open sights and that was close to 50yrs ago. Still, suspect ammo is part of that accuracy factor.
I've been watching Matt's videos from south Africa for years..he really knows his air guns..I can't afford the higher end pcps so I've gone with the hatsan. 25 flashpup..it's an awesome rifle and can be filled easily with a hand pump.
I think it would have been interesting to see some powder burned between you both. Maybe some rimfire/air comparisons. It was fun seeing Matt on your channel, thanks for the video!
Great video Guys. I live in the same area as Clark's custom guns and have shot their. 22 rifles for 20 plus years. I got an M3 about a year ago and absolutely love it. Since I've had it I haven't shot the .22 once. The FX is so much fun to shoot and way cheaper to plug paper with.
Oh, about 7 years ago now, Matt and another feller by the name of Ted Bear were absolutely the influence that caused me to part with a small fortune on a total of 5 PCPs and related equipment. I even shot in a couple of the Extreme Benchrest competitions in Phoenix. Tons of enjoyment out of these toys but they ain't cheap!

Super fun to shoot. I even went as far as buying a bullet swag press and dies and make my own slugs. I can get real nerdy with tuning/adjusting/experimenting.
Would you mind sharing what press and dies you got? I've considered it but figured at this point between NSA and the Patriot javelins I could buy higher quality than I could produce for more money.
Hi 22plinker. I've heard of you. Today your video popped up, so I watched. I see now that you are trying to push airguns in to the powder world. Good for you.
Great video 22 plinkster and Matt very informative I've got the FX Maverick 22 caliber and love it very quite backyard friendly I would have loved to get Impact M3 but at the time nobody had stock on them.
I bought a gamo swarm whisper in .22. I have only put around 50 rounds through it. I haven't shot targets yet but I was shooting a water bottle at about 20 yards to sight it in and it's consistent. I was also shooting a cardboard box just to sight it in because it's a brand new gun. Air guns are really fun.
Awesome rig! Everybody has their vice.. Honor a mans rig regardless of caliber, appearance, performance, and cost. If its what a person is into,,,let em grow with it and praise them for what they have. Thank you for showing that fine weapon!
Ammo especially in rimfire makes or can make a huge difference; I built a rifle and with high quality ammunition it can shoot a sub 1/2 MOA group at 100 yards but that same rifle can open up to 1-6” groups with box/brick ammunition. I also have a 1950s tube fed 22 LR that can shoot a 1 inch group with that with decent ammo and it’s been handed down since it was bought new because it’s such an accurate rifle; and that’s been taken out hunting and beaten up a lot and still shoots great.
LOL. Matt has a good heart rate. Very visible on video when holding on target. Something we all suffer with. Just thought it was cool to see it here on video. CHEERS
Not all of them. Some are slim and lightweight. They can produce accuracy and consistency at lower power levels than rimfires. They are simply different tools for different jobs. One is not necessarily inferior to the other.
It's not true that FX listen to customers. They are all about serving the famous UA-camrs, but for us mere mortals, it's terrible service and low quality products! Here's a real response from FX Support after I purchased a faulty "Power Block" version of the Impact and the dealer refused to help: "The support will be closed for summer holidays 16:th of July to 15:th of August" This is 100% true!!!!
A dealer only sells the product for FX. You should blame the dealer if you felt they didn’t address your issue in a timely manner. Your comment is inaccurate ! No pun intended.
The background is sort of misleading. There have been people in the US shooting slugs in airguns long before Matt Dubber ever picked up an FX PCP. He used to shoot a 177 cal Air Arms PCP. Cedric, and a lot of Southern Cali airgunners were casting slugs and hitting prairie dogs and ground squirrels out past 200 yards a long time ago. I don't want to post a link on someone's site but Cedric shot a group less than an inch at 170 yards with a custom-built 375 cal Epoch. He also has a video of a 1.6-inch 3-shot group at 340 yards with the same gun..
Hahahaha a suppressor on an air rifle! Come to Australia! A suppressor is classed as a weapon! We also have to have a licence for these rifles. Australia needs 2A.
they are in the UK but if you have an FAC they arn't a problem to get added, everyone that has firearms here has moderators on their rifles, bolt and semi.. though semi's only up to and incl .22 LR & .22WMR
I have a fx impact m3 in 30 caliber and it’s a real shooter. I hardly ever shoot a 22 lr anymore. Only thing I wish is that Fx would start getting more barrels and tanks into the United States.

As silly as it seems in Canada you need a firearms license for any air gun that shoots over 400 feet per second. Once I have that I can buy any rifle I want though depending on the price of ammunition this air gun might still be a good option. Very nice shooting gun but somewhat pricey.
Well, I havent cleaned my t1x barrel for 10k rounds and still shoots around 1moa. It really doesnt matter how expensive your 22lr is, if you dont lot test it wont shoot for shit.
