First person I’ve seen put a saw blade into the forge. Most blades are already forged and do not require the forging and annealing process. Beautiful knife in the end!
I think the main thing I like about Your knives is they're not museum pieces , or , safe Queens ! I've never seen anything You've made on UA-cam that I wouldn't be proud to own ,or , be afraid to actually use for it's intended purpose ! You are a talented Craftsman ( far & Few in between these days ... that thinks Their crap doesn't stink ) !
Channel name...Edward Knife Hands...make a little play on Edward Scissor Hands...nice blade The most fun part for me is the handle...love sculpting the wood...
This is the first one who used actually good saw blade and not the junk with welded teeth like a lot of others so called 'knifemakers'. This could be actually good knife with solid edge retention. The heat treatment looks too high temperature but camera and display can lie, I miss only some test of blade after hardening like chopping bones etc.
My thoughts exactly. I use these old style blades all the time. I strongly suggest annealing them right after cutting them out or drilling can be extremely difficult also makes it easier to grind.
Ob I really like the Holes all in the Tang. Will hold in the handles perfect and tough. Really good Technique also. Takes alot of handle pin guess work. Great gob buddy. Very noce skillz
Not crazy bout finger grooves. But the knife is beautiful. I love saw blade knives.. the just heat treat so easy.. they get super hard but you can still fix a warp before tempering . And you got the best drill bits in the world
I’ve been making knives for 16 years and I learned quickly that unless you are the particular hand those notches were designed for these four fingers grooves are super uncomfortable.. fine if you have measurements but we almost never do
This is absolutely true. Finger grooves is one of knife design's biggest and most obvious mistakes. They make a knife nearly unusable. Measurements? No, they don't save it. This is not how the human body works. We all need to change the position of our bodies from time to time, the position of our fingers, and so on.
Well done my friend.I finally see a four finger grip.everyone goes and does it for three.I can't understand them.because it doesn't hold well in the hand with three fingers
Prior to quenching, would you normalize a blade cut from a circular saw blade? Assuming it is some form of tool steel other then that I don't know it's composition? Thanks.
From Japan. Thank you for the many informative videos! Let me ask you a question. How thick saw blade? I have a many 2mm old saw blade and would like to see it made in . Is it too thin?
I'd like to ask a question: I'm trying to make a knife from a sawblade too, but the steel is just too tough to be ground, how could you grind so much material? I tried to anneal the steel with the gas forge but the change was minor. Do you have any advice? Thanks for the video!
@@bondarkenergy I did it with the gas forge (not controlled temperature) a few times. Then I left it in the fireplace with hot coal for a day and a night until it cooled down slowly: still a minor change, the grinding belts have worn a lot without grinding too much. 😓
@@bondarkenergy I can't forge it because it's too thin. I probably could have tried to hammer it just to see if it would change its structure, that's right! Thanks for your answers!
Угол заточки потерян, на резе бумаги видно, что заточка была клочками, а не целиком кромка точилась. По изготовлению вопросов нет, все отлично. На заточке бы руку набить и будет все супер, успехов!
Compare to redymade stainless steel knife in market such knifes are far better and good. I use to make knifes. Knifes made from saw blade is good quality can last for years.. Imp is hardening and oil tempering.
I love the finish, what was in the green bottle that gave it that? how long did it take? did it have something to do with shaking it? or being a saw blade?

Do you sell such knives?
Don't steel weaken when cut or damaged? Something to do about stress or fatigue or something? Maybe that's why... Or is that just for aluminum?...
The magnet trick is genius but also ao obvious at the same time definitely be useing that trick

Beautiful work. I personally don't like finger grooves on handles, but if it's custom made for your hand then I guess they make sense
Thank)
Those finger grooves is one of the biggest and most elementary misconceptions in knife design. Then really make it totally inconvenient.
Bravissimo! Veramente un ottimo lavoro! Anche lo stile del coltello è bellissimo! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
